Re:What are the advantages of SnGs over MTTs?
SNGs take far less time. If your friends call you to do something, you can just stop loading games & be done within an hour. In an MTT, you simply can't do this, and basically have to committ your day to playing. There's less variance in SNGs. If you're good, you should rarely even have losing months (probably not more than 1 per year). Rakeback for SNGs also helps during those bad runs. SNG players put in more volume, so they earn more in rakeback. Being able to predict your monthly & yearly income more accurately is nice, & less stressful. As for why you would play ...

If you're going to signup under the Cake network I recommend just signing up through cake. The VIP program isn't great but they're working on it & you get 33% rakeback. The play there is ridiculously soft. There's some good info about Cake on my blog at

Re(4): Quest to supernova Elite... by clarkatroid on 1/13/2008 06:07 of the many goals in life, the quest to be a supernova elite is about the most stupid You're absolutely correct. Wanting about $30K in free tournament packages & $100-$200K in VPPs for the following year is just absurd. Who would want that' Jeez you people are stupid. If your sarcasm detector isn't rapidly beeping at this time you should take it in to get repaired.

I think it's a bad idea. You're going to lose $10 (rake) per game on average at the $10 level. I don't see it worth it unless it's the end of the year & it's your only way of getting there. I would wait. GL, -Hub

Jhub was the first guy who actually chatted in the chatbox respectfully and on a regular basis being friendly (except when i bad beat him, which was often) Nice to see you've made it so far! Yeah I remember you. We played a ton of $38s together and other levels. Thanks & gl.

If any of you guys wanna check it out I was also on a radio show in the twin cities last week: #williejay It's under the Willie & Jay Show 7:00 My segment starts about 2 minutes into it & probably lasts about 10 minutes. I did make 1 mistake that I noticed. I said I played 49 weeks last year but I meant 39. Oh well.

by Trent55 on 1/6/2008 23:31 jhub, how many sng's do u play per day on average' and do whatever the fuck u want with ur life imo Nowadays I average around 16 SNGs per hour. My days vary a lot. Sometimes I'll play 5 hrs & sometimes I'll play 15. Last year I played 39 weeks & average about 39 hrs/week over a 52 week period. This year I hope to play around 45 weeks and will probably average around 40-50 hrs/week. However, I usually end up playing less than I hope for at the beginning of the year. I don't play as much on weekends and my total weekly hours are often ...

no I talked to 2 advisors from my school. One of them actually told me to stick with poker and if I ever need my degree to go back when I need it. College isn't going anywhere people. Credits don't expire. It's come to the point where finishing my last semester could cost me close to 6 figures (opportunity cost: time lost from not playing poker) for a semester that technically only costs about $3,500. What the article did not say is when I talked it over with my parents my dad actually told me he thought it through and came to the same conclusion as me: go for poker now & if I ever need ...

I'll probably eventually mix them in but never as my primary game. I just hate that you don't have the option to quit if something comes up. It also annoys the hell out of me to play well & get deep only to take a monster beat & get screwed after countless hours of play.

Re(5): Added level in turbo sngs on Stars WTF?!?!?
that's not it chief. I know how to play post-flop poker as do a lot of people who don't want this level. 150/300 isn't gonna have much post-flop poker anyway. It's still gonna be push/fold most of the time. It's about volume. People aren't going to be able to get in as many games. That means less $ per hr, less VPPs, harder to get supernova elite & milestones, etc... There's a reason people play more turbos and it's not because they hate playing post-flop and just want to push. It's because the speed of them maximizes hourly rate.

I'm with you bud. I hate this. It may sound like a small effect but for someone who puts in a ton of volume it sucks. You pretty much explained it. Less games, less VPPs, less milestone bonuses, etc... AIDS

Re(1): PXF at the PokerBowl
I agree that the structure was ridiculously fast, and I'm a turbo SNG player so that's saying something. I also think they need to be more organized. It always started later than the scheduled starting time. They need to promote it more too. First off, whenever I told someone I was playing in it they had never heard of it. Second, I didn't see one single poker bowl sign inside the Palms until I was actually in the Key West room. Our team had 3 of our players at the final table of our conference (me, Jordan Morgan, & Alex Jacob) and were the clear favorite going into the final table of ...

Re(1): Candidate for worst bubble call ever
Today I was on a 6 man bubble. Blinds were 100/200. Shorty was on the button with 65 chips. I was in the SB with around 4700 & shoved assuming my opponent didn't have down sydrome. My opponent snap called with 66 w/ around 4100 chips. He won the coin flip. Seriously, shorty has a little over 1/4th of a BB & he snap calls with a hand that's usually a coin flip for over 20 f'n BBs. Wow. Just wow.

US Poker Bowl
I just officially joined a US Poker Bowl Team. Bigjoe asked me to be on the team because I think he has some sort of ownership in the team. Anyways, the team is jordan morgan, nordberg, alex jacob, shaundeeb, thay3r, and me. Our team is the San Diego Playersin the California conference. I think we're the favorite to win the conference. For those who don't know it's a 25 team tournament with kind of a SNG structure. A lot of top online and live pros are gonna be in it. It's in Vegas October 20th-23rd and will be televised on Fox in early 08. Here's the website: /

Lol that won't be happeneing anytime soon. You can possibly increase the chance I play less of them though by emailing support and asking them to add 6 man turbos in the $320 range. I play every $325 that goes off but I think turbos would fill a lot quicker. It's absurd that stars hasn't added these yet. GL at the tables, -Hub
