Re:FTOPS ME winner....... In hindsight its a call i agree - but at the time it confused me to the point that I overthought it and in the end the timebank was running out. I tend to hit fold there. At 100/200 and up I would have called I think. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:FTOPS ME winner....... Played on the same table as this guy for a while last night and he made what I thought was a really strange play when he overbet shoved the button when I was sitting on 66 in the big blind. Completely threw me, I tanked while i checked him out on OPR and a live stats site and was obviously calling if he was a complete numpty - which I expected the stats to show he was - only to find he had just taken down the FTOPS ME and cashed in the WSOP as well. I just decided it might be some sort of tricksy play with a monster and decided it wasnt worth the gamble at 80/160 and me having started quite ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Stars £2M - Ugh, hate calling for my life this early. It is always right here though isnt it? I'm getting 6/4 when he four bet shoves on me and I must be a lot better than that in this spot' Suggest a range for villain here for me please so that I can stop beating myself up! Re:NON-US P5ERS - Giveaway NOW A FREEROLL!! I've been trying to reply to your pm to me Adam but to no avail as I keep getting an error message saying the system is experiencing problems. So in the end I didnt get the issue resolved and also missed the freeroll so not very happy To confirm my email on mansion is the same as the one I have registered on here, I received nothing from them. I downloaded and deposited using your link and was still not allowed to register for the freeroll - my screen name on Mansion is jim5439 (NOTE not the jim 5432 i normally use - must have mistyped it!) Re:HU in Stars £100+9 Any way I don't stack off here? I should have explained why I didn't do that... I had been well ahead all the way HU and had been patiently waiting for the right opportunity to stack him and take it down. That arrived with 10 high flop and me holding QT....he had KK ! From that point on he had about a 60/40 advantage in chips and he started playing really aggressively, I was getting open raised and re-raised every hand so I had switched tack to limping the small blind a few times to try and get in cheap and he had been obliging by checking his big blind. I think if I had have raised here pre- he would probably have ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

HU in Stars £100+9 Any way I don't stack off here? I have to call river don't I' i was just hoping he had raised flop with a low 6 or a pair of some sort to make the second full house on the river - but to be honest I thought that raise on a paired flop generally means they've got the singleton most times. Re:Bubble squeeze play - was this +EV or massive spew? Thx dyzalot - think we've been at same table a few times - you got any notes on me lol' Think I may have telegraphed what I do with AQ late now anyway! I'll throw another question in the pot now - was the call with 99 bad on his part' I don't like it but not sure. I'm probably only calling QQ+ there (and I may have flatted original raise with that there in his position in the hope someone would do exactly what I did) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Bubble squeeze play - was this +EV or massive spew? recently I'm seeing more and more of the raises you describe being outed for being marginal hands looking to rep super strength and a trend towards the "triple bluff" over betting to look strong now as a counter to that. the game seems to be getting more like "if he knows that I know that he knows that I know etc..." ! but yes, take the point - I suppose I just thought that I don't really want to be called or shoved on and if I'm committed I might as well get them all in and make it look like its a massive call for his life on the bubble. I had to get it past ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bubble squeeze play - was this +EV or massive spew? OK - 33 left, 27 will cash. I'm comfortable with average stack. utg+2 raises 3x, mp flats and I see an opportunity to squeeze with AQs. I shove, raiser folds, mp tanks for ages and calls with 99. I lose. My thinking here is that I stand to increase my stack by a third without a fight, I have big fold equity close to the bubble and even if called I'm only a dog against AA-QQ, AK. No particular reads on other two players. Did I do the right thing' I still think I did, because medium pairs must fold there a lot of the time surely, but I hate going out like that when I lose a big pot I ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is this the standard to maximize/go broke here I think I tanked briefly cos I was playing about 6 at once!! Or I may have been OPR checking you - I know I did at some stage on that hand :) Interesting with comments about people showing down 99 etc there. If I hadn't been slightly wary of JJ I would consider over-betting there to try and rep TT-99 or something. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is this the standard to maximize/go broke here I was a bit surprised you played it like that early in the game tbh - I thought I pretty much was screaming AA. when you tanked on flop thought you maybe had JJ and were figuring best way to play - when you shoved on me I was getting ready to chuck laptop across room! ul though - if its any consolation I lost count of the times I had AA cracked by under pairs last night. Think it was a new personal record! And if its any more consolation I finished.....46th! (bubble 45 obv lol!) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Party 18k Last 4 players...calling leaders shove here? Had been leading but started leaking chips when guy on my left shoved on my steals 5 times on the trot and I couldnt call, then this hand... So what should I do here' My logic was....initially flat calling his 36k raise definitely not on there. you're likely to miss and then you're stuck when he bets at you. I'm always happy to take down the pot with a resteal in this position and if he calls then you take it from there. When he shoves, well - the difficulty is that he can do this with a reasonably wide range as he knows my restealing range 4 handed is widish too and his shove ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): FTOPS $2500 - Playing AA - thoughts please Really appreciate all the comments guys/gals. Maybe I didnt play it too bad after all. Agree now I probably should have shoved flop but happy that having flatted it then I did the right thing on the turn. Only other thing I may have considered was making it 4/5bb to go pre. Maybe... Anyways this is how it played out...I got left pretty short - couldn't find a hand and in the end ran into AA in the blind when I did finally get to open shove to try and double back. Ironic huh! Re(1): FTOPS $2500 - Playing AA - thoughts please thx for replies. I thought immediately afterwards thatI should have 3bet the flop to see where I was at but having thought about it I came to same conclusion as Beck AA that stack sizes mean if he shoves I'm almost compelled to call. Which leads me to wonder what to do when stack sizes and blind levels, which at the start of the hand seem relatively unthreatening, suddenly restrict your options to play post flop and leave you between a rock and a hard place as above. It seems to me that I am almost forced to shove his flop bet/fold or call/check/fold to a bet. Or am I totally off beam ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

FTOPS $2500 - Playing AA - thoughts please OK, so I'm reasonably ranked and profitable long term on MTTs buying in direct up to $150. Yesterday managed to supersatellite in to the $2500 buying for just $20 and was travelling along quite nicely building stack up to about 7000 - got a badbeat back down to 5300 and then picked up AA.... I would really appreciate some comments and thoughts on 1. what you put this guy on here 2. do you fold/call/reraise/shove and why' I will post rest of hand after I have a few replies natch... Re(1): Take the Easy Cash or Go For The Glory? Villain's a pretty solid player - bit surprised at his play here raising Ax utg into a full table with lots of stacks of a size i might expect a shove from - bubble or not. If I was hero here with QQ I'd be wishing I'd picked it up in later position once utg raises ahead but v happy to see him flip A5 Anyways - you're in for 26 and the QQ gives you a decent shot at a good cash.
