Re:I guess Annette's Ban had an effect. i guarantee that if it were almost any other player that got caught nobody would complain, but because it was Annette (2nd offense by the way) the fan club comes out and cries foul. the fact is that there was a rule broken, it's not even arguable, and it was broken for a second time. not to mention i don't see how people can complain about a rule that is primarily focused on stopping collusion. when two people agree to go all-in preflop they are normally counting on no other callers and one of the two getting doubled up for free, how that is not seen as a problem is beyond me. Re:Live Tourney ur assumption that most live pros are broke is very off-base, just to clear that up. the internet has spawned a lot more "pros" than live because of the sheer volume. playing both online and live i respect many players in both arena's, and i think both environments are different. i think your disrespect towards live players is baseless. but, i agree the creator of this post is a donk, his play was retarded. Re:Live Tourney zd, u played this totally wrong, you gotta push pre and if you get called and lose oh well, you cannot under any circumstances let yourself be the one that has to call a raise. you have to win your share of coin flips to win a tourney. by limping here you open yourself up to a lot of different ways to lose. if you had pushed as your first action the A J off probably folds and you take down the blinds and live to fight in another situation. Re:Live Tourney for you to flame live players as being inferior to net players is a f'ing joke. there are very talented live players and very talented net players. if you put the two groups together in a tourney each group will excel in it's pure environment, meaning if you have a live tourney and have 50 live players and 50 net players you will in all likelihood see the live players fair better, just as would happen in a net tourney the net players would fair better than the live players. the two games are totally different. very few people can excel in both. my only problem is when one side has to ... Re:Thoughts on my play and his call..... i don't mind this call just on the pure fact that your push showed a vulnerable hand. the guy probably figured he was getting a race or possibly better if he thought you were pushing with a really weak pair. i'm not an advocate of pushing pre-flop with AK, AQ, etc as it is better to see a flop and go from there in my opinion. Strategy Question A friend and I were discussing poker strategy and through our conversation we ended up talking about how to play a flush draw with a middle pair against one player. I'll give you an example, recently I was playing a live sng and it was in level two and i had about 2200 chips (starting stack was 2000), I get K 8 of diamonds on the big blind, one player i mid position min raised. The player had been fairly active so his range was fairly big, everyone folded around to me, I called the additional 100 and the flop comes out Ad Ks 3d, so I have middle pair and the flush draw. Re:Worst play I may have ever seen... the action of the hand went like this, first to act (fold), 2nd guy raises to $15k (was seen as tight), next guy folds, I raise all in for $35k (was playing tight aggressive all night), the player with the Q2 was playing crap all tourney, he wasn't drinking, decided that he had the best hand or is just an asshole (i go with the latter). Worst play I may have ever seen... So, I'm playing a live tourney at the Showboat in AC on Saturday, we are down to final 12 and I have a decent stack, about $35k after losing about $15k in a pot a few hands before. I pick up JJ on the button. Guy in front of me has about $25k left, blinds are $3k/$6k and he raises to $15k. I put him on a big range due to his stack size, didn't think he had a huge hand but he needed to make a move with the blinds as big as they were. Re:Going to Atlantic City in next few weeks, what good MTT's are available and any nightlife? your best bet is borgata for everything. they have great tourneys, wednesday morning guarantee gets a good crowd usually 350-400 so first is typically $12k or so. usually get decent players, unlike some of the other casino's like showboat that have donkaments. borgata also has sng's all day now at different levels, i tend to play these often and normally cash. they changed the payout from 1st and 2nd to 1-3 which sucks but rumor has it they will be switching back. i am normally down there every weekend for a day or night when the easy money walks through the doors. borgata has 2 ...
