Re(4): 45 man turbo advice This is breathtakingly bad advice. The bubble is not important in 45 mans (except insofar as you can exploit your opponents who think it is). This is not a 9 man with a shallow pay structure nad a big jump from 4th to 3rd. It's a 45 man with a low payout for 7th and a very high payout for first. You must play for a top 3 placing. You have an M of 2 here and a golden opportunity to double up. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): SPACEGRAVY'S SNG PROP BET... Was wondering where Spacegravy had gone. Pleased he's jumped the 27s and gone straight to the 60s. People are assuming 250 tables a day, i.e 10 sets of 25 in 9 hours. Do the 60s really fill up fast enough to make that possible' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Poker Chip Sets Two weeks after I cleared the requirement PSO are still "verifying with poker room". It's a great deal (assuming they eventually get round to "verifying"), but don't do it if you're in a hurry. The Nevada Jack chips are vastly superior to those you can get at the Pokerstars store. Re(5): At what point does an SNG become an MTT to you? Good question. In 18 you should definately being playing to cash. In a 45 you should definately be playing to win or at least top 3. Not sure about 27s Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): The continuation bet... help! Main factors are reads on the other guy and flop texture. IN the hand you posted, villain may well be limp calling pre-flop with a med pocket pair which has hit a set or is an overpair to the board. Your c-bet is less than half pot, which looks a bit scared and will encourage good players to come over the top of you, particularly with a draw (and there are lots of potential drawing hands against this board) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Jennifear and her most recent post...what a joke! Jen comes across as a really nice person and its great that she makes such a big effort to pass on her thoughts. I really liked the way she made an effort to make reads on each player and apply them. Nevertheless, I thought the reads were often way way too tight and her application of them was often very poor. What would really have added value (and this is what good SNGers do as a matter of course after each session) would be to put the hands and her ranges through SNGPT to test her assumptions. Pudge did this and showed how badly she missed the mark on these. Her calling ranges against the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): What do you do here with TT? Do you have any read on GLman' How far into the tournie are you' What is your table image. If asking for advice on a tough hand you should always try to include as much info as possible. Unless I have a read on Glman that he is doing this with a pretty wide range, I would fold this. What you need to do here is put GLman on a range of hands for making this move and then work out if you are ahead of him. Unless he is a real donk, given your early position range I can't see him doing this with anything less than JJ+, AQ+. It might be different if you had raised from the button or cut off. Re(4): SnG Grind!! You'll have to spend a decent proportion of your time studying (especially ICM) if you want to beat the $55s let alone the $215s. I honestly don't think it helps yourslef to see this as a grind or a potential living. You'll play much better if you think of it as a fun hobby which you want to get better at so you enjoy it more and which produces aq nice little side income. Dreaming about being a pro is fine, aspiring to be one nay cause you to lose focus in your main career. Obv, I know nothing about you so if this is way wide of the mark, apologies. Re(2): This is why I can't move up limits ..... Good post, not at all moronic. IN fairness to $5 players, by the time you get to this blind level you are more likely to find people making moves. The more I think about this hand the more I like folding, though as noted above it's very dependent on reads on villain and sb. Without a read, we can't put villian on a range and so we don't know whether we have an edge or not. Generally speaking though, mid pairs are trouble hands for anyone who doesn't have great hand-reading skills. Withough good set-mining odds, I tend to muck them. I don't know if I agree that you should be giving up any ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): This is why I can't move up limits ..... Reads are essential in spots like this. What kind of a player is villain - does he steal much from lp' is 3xbb his standard raise' Does he c-bet all the time. Also what stage of the tournie are we in' I assume we are in the money but how deep' I personally don't like the call pre-flop with this hand. We don't have implied odds on a set and almost any flop is tough for us to play even with position. If the sb re-raises we have to fold. Depending on my reads on villain (and on sb), I either fold or re-raise him. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(6): What a terrible terrible terrible terrible call that we can all learn from YW Helen. I shoudl point out that the 2+2 thread I linked to was in the early days of ICM. There are more tools out there now to help specifically SNGWiz, SNG Power Tools and Bubble Trainer. SNGWiz has a free 30 day trial. The trouble with ICM is that it's kinda dull and to get perfect you need to spend quite a lot of time on it. It's hard for a recreational player with just an hour or two to devote to poker a day to have the dicipline to spend it running through hand histories to check if he made the right decision. Re(1): Question on Articles - What Do You Want?? Hey Graps I entirely understand how frustrating it must be to put effort into an article and get no feedback. I thought it was a reasonable article, but not much use to me personally. I 4+ table and simply don't have the time to check SS stats - the only time I'll do so is if I see someone at all of my tables and want to get a read. Off the top of my head, here are a few things I'd be really interested in: 1. The thought process you go through when putting someone on a hand, perhaps with reference to PAHUD stats. 2. Tips on how to study the game more effectively, ideally using ICM study ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(6): What a terrible terrible terrible terrible call In this specific situation you push any two cards. But generally on the bubble, ICM requires that you adjust for calling ranges (indeed this is the key skill in ICM). ICM is just as effective at a £1 SNG as it is at a £1K SNG. Re(6): What a terrible terrible terrible terrible call Meh, I see worse calls than this in the $16s all the time. The fact is that people will (and should) adjust their calling ranges if the big stack is pushing every hand. Another fact is that bad players will overadjust if they feel bullied. Incidentally UCLA, in case you weren't aware, you are mentioned in a thread at 2+2 as the best $6.50 player out there. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): How do you win at high limit SNGs? I think that at the higest levels, it's become a game of who can adjust to calling and pushing ranges quickest. Quite a few of the top SNG players have switched to cash, so it may be that the games are a bit easier. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
