Re(5): U.S. to keep Internet gambling ban: USTR Dude, I'm in the military, and let me just be nice and say you are completely ignorant of how the military works. You don't lose all your freedoms, and the training definitely doesn't magically turn a dirtbag into a model citizen. Just stick to topics you know about in the future. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Very general question That's really funny. I mean, they call them "bad beats" because you are supposed to win the hand in qustion most of the time, right' But over the course of a "tournament," you have to avoid them if you want to win, which never happens. In fact, if you want to win a large, online "tournament," you had better plan on sucking out at least once, if not more. So then, the question becomes, "are 'tournaments' nothing more than lotteries'" Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Very general question Okay thanks for the goodwill. I have been to Iraq myself, as well as Afghanistan. I didn't know P5s required such formal prose. Luckily I am a Masters candidate, so I can oblige in the future. However, for right now, I'd like to hear from some "tournament" experts about my post. Thanks. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Very general question Okay, I quit playing donkaments awhile back because I hated the thought of playing good poker for three or four hours and getting nothing in return due to a bad beat, extended cold streak, cooler, or lost coinflip. So I went over to cash games and I've done pretty well and enjoyed it a lot more. I am not a hyper aggressive player, so donkaments just didn't suit me I guess. Anyhow, I feel like I was just missing a key concept from donkaments that kept me from being really good. I played a small buyin event on Stars today just for the hell of it and I decided to just be balls out aggressive (it ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Are these go broke hands? If you don't push here, you'll regret it when you let AK catch on fourth or fifth street. Personally, I like the play you made. Losing JJ to KK is poker. Getting all weak in the knees with JJ and letting AK or AQ hang around is stupid poker. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): what to do? To me what's important is not the raiser, but the caller who smooth called over 1/3 of his stack. To me that screams monster looking for action. If you push, the raiser probably folds, but the caller will definitely call here and you're most likely way behind. I'd fold and let these two duke it out. Maybe somebody will bust out and you'll be one closer to the scrilla. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): best poker book ? Harrington on Holdem is the best I've read so far. I must add one that helped me tremendously, and don' t laugh...Ed Miller's "Getting Started in Holdem." I read this after reading SSH and it allowed me to understand the basics of the game so I could really apply SSH strategies. But lately, I have been shooting for more MTT success, and Harrington's book (haven't yet read volume 2) is really straight forward and makes sense. Read it. "Psychology of Poker" by Dr. Alan Schoonmaker is a pretty interesting read as well. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): looking for opinions. I like your play. You have to take your shot somewhere. Like you said, if you don't you'll eventually get gobbled up by the blinds and be forced to push some much lesser hand, and most of the time you win here. You played to win, and there is nothing wrong with that. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): UltimateBet Sng's That's how it is for me too. I've won a grip of SnG's on UB, but it does seem like there is always a couple of players who have some skills. Something else I've noticed is that there always seems to be one player who is getting outrageous cards. Today a guy not only had AA twice, but he had it up against KK both times, which is just about optimal. This guy was a major donk, but even he couldn't screw that up. I think that better players might be attracted to UB's structure with 1500 chips to start and blinds going up every ten minutes. It lends itself to a tight, somewhat aggressive strategy, ... Re(1): Site to build a bankroll with sit n go's. I play on UB right now and I've heard that the SnG players there are tougher than average, although I haven't encountered any sharks at the levels I play. Their structure is more set up for the skilled cardplayer. You start with 1500 chips and blinds go up every 10 minutes. They do offer turbos with blinds going up every five minutes and ultra turbos with blinds going up every 2 and a half minutes. Also, I signed up thru the link on and got a 50% signup bonus. You can check the link on this site, as I'm sure they offer a similar deal. You shouldn't have a problem at the $5+.50 levels ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

I'm that guy I busted out three players on two consecutive hands in a UB SnG this morning. Both times my pocket pairs got all-in preflop against higher pocket pairs and flopped trips that held up. After the first I got called an idiot and after the second, which got it down to three, one of the remaining players said something along the lines of "good old UB." To make it ever better for my donk image, very next hand my pocket 3's trip up on the flop. Three hands in a row making trips off pocket pairs!!! What are the odds of that' Anyways, I guess I can no longer complain about bad beats for awhile, since ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

Lil Help??? I'm your average small stakes player and I find TAgg to work very well there. But I'm going to be moving up soon and I'm looking for some info about LAgg play. It will particularly benefit me in later stages of MTT where my TAgg style always ends up taking me from top 20 around the bubble to barely ITM when the sharks start pushing me around. I've read a couple of books but no one who writes books really employs much LAgg, or so it seems. Can anybody out there who uses this style hook me up with some advice or tell me where I should look for some' Thanks that jiveturkey Posted in: Poker Discussion |
