Once US players can play legally again, how many of you will actually go back to FTP? If they return player funds, segregate player funds, and legally obtain a license in the US, then I would play there again. IMO they had the best software, tournament selection, tournament structure, and rakeback/rewards available (at least for a mid stakes part time grinder). Posted in: Poker Sites |

Should I give him credit for flopping a set? You don't necessarily need to bet that much on the flop, but I think it is fine. As played he can still have worse pocket pairs or maybe air so I think it is an easy call. I would want a strong read that the guy is a nit before considering folding. You are also getting good pot odds here. Even if he has the king 60% of the time here you should still call. Make up your mind whether you will call a shove before you make your flop bet. If a bet this size puts you in a tough spot, then consider a different line (smaller or larger bet, or check/call, or check/raise), especially in pots where ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Full Tilt cashflow problems confirmed! $60 million in uncleared deposits Assuming this is 60M in uncleared deposits, I would hope that FTPs assets could cover the loss... otherwise what a shady business decision to allow this. For those of you who were freerolling FTP, did FTP at least limit the amount you could withdraw so that your account had at least the amount of your uncleared funds' In other words if you had 5K in uncleared deposits and 10K in your account, did FTP allow you to withdrawal as much as you want, or did they force you to leave at least 5K' Posted in: Poker Sites |

Encouraging, Rep Barton's support for online poker!! Sounds promising. This may be one of the only chances for regulation in the next few years, so I'm crossing my fingers. Keep up the good work PPA! It sounds like this bill isn't proposing state or US only sites, awesome! Posted in: Poker Community |

Thoughts on PokerView? I think it is a good idea, but makes more sense for private leagues like pokerstars home games. Posted in: Poker Sites |

Pot Odds question - deep in hyper-turbo MTT This can't be right because you are getting better than 2-1 on your investment, and getting 2-1 you would only need 33% equity. I think it would be 48K/(120K+48K) =.286, so you only need 28.6% equity if he calls 100%. So based on your pokerstove results I think folding is a big cEV mistake. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

proper way to play cashouts on ftp? I can't think of a scenario where cashing out would be +EV, unless you have some other priorities or the rent is past due. Being 2/70, you might only make the final table like 25% of the time, but you are still better off in the long run by taking your chances and hoping to final table. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

standard if I can't cope with 10+ tabling rush mtts? I handle up to about 16 tables of standard MTTs fine too, but I wouldn't want to do more than 4 rush tables by themselves. There are too many decisions and you don't want to be time banking down in rush tournaments. Blind levels are quick so you need to make the most of them by acting quickly. So imo don't even mix rush with non-rush and play way less than 8. Posted in: Poker Community |

Questions about Holdem Manager 1) The HUD is very useful if you multi-table. The reports and graphs are also nice and can help you spot leaks in your game. 2) Money is money, for $90 it's worth it if you are serious about poker. 3) Free upgrades and you can install on up to 2 PC's at once. so i just binked a new FTP ME tournament but... Agree. If you are a winning player it will certainly still be +EV for each entry unless the field is small or you have a crazy amount of entries. As an example I'd guess if you had a 30% ROI in a big ME tourney, I'd say your ROI for each entry might look like this due to possible merge: 1st Entry: +30% 2nd Entry: +29.9% 3rd Entry: +29.7% 4th Entry: +29.4% This is just a guess and it's probably less of a difference than this. Remember these field sizes will be huge with other people Multi-entering as well, making the merge less likely. So I think people are making too big of a deal ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Hand in 5050 vs a Solid Reg Don't think a solid reg is flatting the turn very often with 2 pair or better. So nh easy call. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Today's FTP Update An alternative to the merge would be to kill the players smallest stack and pay them out the chip-chop value of the stack (or ICM value or whatever). Then auto-adjust the remaining payouts. Seems a bit more fair to me. Or maybe let the player choose when the time comes. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Today's FTP Update I agree with this. Then you could also have jackpot bonuses. For example win a jackpot for getting all 4 stacks to the top 50, 3 stacks to the top 30, 2 stacks to the final table, etc. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Practical Financial Advice for Poker Players (long) Excellent advice apology! I would like to add, if you do have a credit card with rewards and are capable of paying it off every month, then it makes sense to use it for everything that you can. Also set up automatic payments for any recurring bills. This will build credit, maximize your rewards, save tons of time, prevent you from ever having to pay a late fee, and save you money on checks/stamps. If anyone with good credit is looking for a great rewards credit card, I recommend Chase Ink Cash. It has 1-3% rewards on everything which you can easily apply as a statement credit. You ... Copy/Paste the first post you ever made on P5's. April 19th, 2006: "I'd say you have to push, I feel your pain by the way, I just finished 6th of 43 in a 50+5 on bodog with 5 paid. I seem to bubble all the time, which is probably why I'm way down in MTT. It's probably because I dont' just sit around like half the people at that time, I play to win. It just always seems to backfire and so far it has cost me a lot of money. One big win could change that, but who knows if that will ever happen. I've never won a tournament with over 30 players, and I've played hundreds.... kind of sad. Oh well, I may hate the bubble, but I don't fear it" Posted in: Poker Discussion |

$3R rush - Flop bottom set Flop raise is probably optimal, but you do have position so I don't really mind the flat since you can bet the turn if they check through. As played raise turn to ~85K and call a shove or get it in on the river if they flat. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Gross spot on flop with AA near bubble in FTP $26 I probably fold if I'm playing well. He looks hella-strong here. I don't think he is semi-bluffing very often since you have shown a ton of strength by c-betting that board with a player all-in. And his value range which you beat is only like AJ/KJ/QJ. AJ combos are slim too since you have two aces. And he might just flat any of those 3 hands. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
