A must read!!! DOJ suggests that unlike sports betting, poker is not a game of skill
The US government has once again overstepped it's bounds. They are not here to regulate every part of our lives, particularly the part where we spend the money we earn. So stupid on so many levels. Since it's a game of luck I guess we should do a test and allow the DOJ to take his entire salary and retirement and put it up in a cash game against 8 of the worlds best cash game specialists so we can truly see how much luck plays a factor. The US is a joke any more when it comes to stuff like this.

Should I quit my day job ?
I can't imagine you needing 100 buyins playing 2/5 live against your random drunk tourists. I don't think I've ever gone on more than a 4 Buyin swing playing 1/2 or 2/5 and I've been playing 2-3 times a week for about 10 years now. I think it's entirely more enjoyable to have a solid job and play poker on the side rather than playing full time but to each his own. Good luck either way.

Insta call. The guy obviously has an over pair or a pair with a SD and he's "protecting". I can't ever see him taking this line with a straight.. I guess he could have a set but I still call given the action.

AK off in live 2-5 game...
I watch a lot of players reload time and time again because they can't fold AK when the action is screaming that they're crushed. I agree that math wise, this is a call all day long, however there is a time and a place to lay it down so if you have the read it's hard to fault you... I call quite often here but given the information I don't have an issue with folding....

Andres, I get what your saying but we aren't a democracy, we're a republic. The common folks words are heard but the real power is all in the hands of the folks put in office unfortunately and this country has been screwed up for a long time because of it.

I was leery of this. I had an issue with them taking $50 out of my withdraw so I wrote them and asked why this had happened. They came back and told me that they didn't take the money out that it was a 3rd party processor and they had no control over it. Then I responded that what they were doing sounded like money laundering and that I didn't want anymore transactions to be funded to my account that way just in case. Turns out that they were doing something shady unfortunately. As an aside, I feel sympathetic to all the great online players out there because they shouldn't be doing this. ...

If I were the dad I'd be memorizing hand histories and keeping my underaged son out of the media spot light and in no way shape or form authorize any investigator to talk to him. The dad holds all the cards here. He needs to just play them right and hope for a little run good.

how many straight/royal flushes have you gotten? How long have you been playing?
I have been playing 15 years now and never hit a Royal but I have lost to two in the crappiest fashion imagineable. I lost to a Royal with a straight flush in a 2/5 cash game (obv home game no freaking bad beat jack pot) had 8s9s raised the button, got 3 bet, flatted. Flop comes 10sQsJs and I get paid off (oh wait). And the other was playing 1/2 a couple years ago at the Beau Rivage. I have AA flop comes AKK two diamonds. Get it all in on a 10d turn and lose to QJdd obv.. Bad beat jack pot was at like 95k but you had to have quad 5's or better get beat or something crazy like that. Those are ...

Seriously, the answer is to identify them and never bluff at them--only value bet. Juice pots with your premiums and make them pay for every street if they want to draw... When you flop a decent hand extract max value. Not really much more than that to it is there'

I don't think so. Just have to count. That's why I wanted them to add me to the scoring list they made, just to track my progress. I'll be joining next month even though I won't be able to grind since Spring Break and Mardi Gras is coming up and I'll have the boat in the water during all my free time.

The truth is that a lot of people got better from reading this site and now they don't want to give back because they are afraid of the game becoming more tough than it already is. It's understandable but still pretty crappy.

I don't care about HUDS really, I just thought it was a good debate. I play live and only play online for fun/spending money. But I do think HUDs should be banned and will express my opinon on why (whether accepted or not). Also, the sports equipment analogy is pretty far off but I see how you could confuse it. If you give me a top of the line pool stick I'm never going to beat the best pool players in the world even if they use a bar stick. Poll: Your thoughts on poker discussion as a forum
If you read back through the archives at all the top players coming up, chimed in and actually discussed hands, timing tells, betting patterns, etc.. Now it's all one standard move and done. There is no expansion, they'res no theory there's just commonly accepted opinions and everyone else's input is basically frowned upon so to me it's lost it's shine.

First thing, Comparing poker to tennis or any other "sport" is retarded. Secondly, No one has any issue with folks being able to go back and review their hand histories or watching "video" to get information on their opponents or getting a friend or coach to analyze their play. What people have an issue with is a computer program that provides you with all that information on the spot, in real time . And I never said a word about Gags being better or worse than me. This is one of the worst posts I've read when it comes to defending HUDs. Really, a new baseball glove' Does that help you catch better' Or make you a better player' No it's a piece of hardware you use to play the game. Need help with three 180man hands.
1. Obv fold 2. Shoveski 3. I see this a lot and it's always the tip top of their range and is definitely crushing 10 10 a good portion of the time. It's hard to lay down TT here but it's not impossible and I do it somewhat often. If the guy shoves, I call all day and try to win a flip or hope he has a smaller pp but with his stack size right here he's raising for value because he's obv never folding. Pretty blatant betting tell that you'll see quite often at all levels..
