Re(3): serious question/discussion......Online Poker rigged?
Here are the stone cold facts! Poker and gambling is rigged. Whenever you lose money, the gambling gods will throw the degenerates a bone to keep them in the game. No matter how much money the fish lose in the long run, the gambling gods have a myriad of tools and PSYCHOLOGICAL PLOYS to keep the fish hoping. Online or in real life, the 'gods of gambling and poker' are at work constantly manipulating the game or so it always seems...

Re(3): Muddywaters set to flush
sophiea, I understand where your question is coming from, but I think it's moot when applied to an online cash game within your bankroll. On the other hand, I've seen something along these lines in live limit cash games. In limit, when the action becomes headup, there is no limit to the number of raises. I've seen top set vs flush draw and both players raise each other until one of them is all-in. I've also seen a player with the nuts on the turn, stop raising after about 10+ raises because he 'knew' his opponent was on a flush & straight draw and 'felt' he had put enough into the pot ...

Re(5): dual monitor w/ geforce fx5700
I'm fairly certain that your video card does not have dual monitor support. To know for sure, need to know exactly which brand card you have. You've only given your chipset. You've described a single VGA and DVI output. I don't think you can use both at the same time. I think there are cards with FX5700 with dual DVI outputs that support dual monitors. Generally speaking, to set up dual monitors, you need 2 monitors and 2 video cards or 1 video card that supports dual monitors. The latter is usually the easier way to do it.

What you're discussing won't help you multitable in any way. What exactly do you mean by 'connecting your laptop to your desktop'' Connecting your laptop to your desktop monitor in place of your desktop computer isn't going to help you.

Re(4): How do you beat this game ?
Bottom line is what betbrett said. Ignore the size of the blind because it's meaningless in this game especially if there is no buy-in cap. You need a lot more money to sit down at this table.

Re(12): ZeeJustin to speak tonight
Let me add one quick analogy. If you had a math final exam with 10 questions and cheated on 1 of them, what would be the penalty' 1) Grade the final and give no points for the question you cheated on 2) Give an F for the entire exam 3) Give an F for the entire course 4) Be expelled from school There should be zero tolerance for cheating online. If many of you new kids think or thought things such as multi-accounting is not 'cheating', well this was your wake up call and now you know, so no more excuses from now on. That is the only area where I give ZJ some leeway because many of the ...

Re(2): Three (3) poker salary questions
These are actually good questions, but I don't think anyone knows the real answer. 1) At the highest limits, a lot of the players are full-time professionals. Mid to higher limits has mostly part-time players. 2) This is hard to answer because there are quite a few players who manage to go on runs where they win $100K or more in less than a year. Many of these people manage to lose some of it back so their net winnings for the year ends up being less than $100K. You will often hear people extrapolate their annual winnings based on their current 'pace'. For example, you manage to win $10K 4 ...

Re(2): Dear Action Jeff
I think some people are confusing EV for a specific hand to EV for the entire tourney. There are ways to calculate both. Any time you have +EV relative to the entire tourney, that is always the correct play. There is always incomplete information, so for a mathematical analysis you always have to make various assumptions in your calculations. There are many things where people simply differ in opinion, but when it comes to things regarding math there is usually a right answer. Sometimes when people disagree, one side is simply wrong.

Re(5): variance? fact or myth
My point is that if you are anywhere near breaking even, you aren't really running bad. Anyone who thinks they are running bad while breaking even hasn't experienced true 'variance'.

Re(3): variance? fact or myth
Any day you turn a profit is not really a horrible day. A bad day is a day where you lose lots of money no matter what you do. A bad run is when you lose lots of money for many days at a time. That is variance... But if you are always losing because of 'variance', then it could be something else. (not directing this to betbrett or anyone else in particular).

You guys are reading into his comment too much. He knows SNG's are a form of poker and it's a form he is very good at. He's just saying that it's not 'real poker' in the traditional sense and I completely agree.

Re(2): Well looks like im done.
SNG ACE, don't listen to all of these other people. The reality is that the vast majority of players are long term losers. I'm not saying that you will be, but there are so many other things to consider. Your profile says that you are a student. This is the time to study while having fun and partying. You only get one chance to go to college and I think if you continue playing poker all the time, you will regret it and feel you wasted your chance. Study hard, graduate and keep as many of your options open as possible.

Re(1): Normal Variance? - LHE
7% over 1500 hands at a 10 handed table sounds 'normal', but I don't think that's a good indication of how good or bad you are running. Bad runs can go on for weeks or months even. Anyone who has played long enough will go on bad runs that seem statistically impossible. You will feel like the gods are trying to punish you and you are the unluckiest person in the world. At times you will feel like crying and ask yourself 'why is this happening to me'' Everytime you have a hand, you expect to lose on the river and you do.
