Re:Shady Ruling = Hate Live Poker
As a former dealer/TD blah blah myself, I have pretty much agreed with every post you've ever had (as far as rulings go) but I have to disagree (humbly) with you here. By the book, if Sam had physically put $31 into the middle of the table before saying "call", I would agree that it stays and he then has the option to fold or call the rest. Also by the book, the verbal "call" commits Sam to the full amount regardless of whether he has even touched his chips yet. That being said, as already mentioned, decisions are always to be weighed out so that the best ruling is ...

Jamesdean13 has passed away
Many of you on here won't remember who that is, or even known at any point. He was a regular mid stakes MTTer on Party back in the day and moved over to Stars after PP went away. He was more or less absent for the past 18 or so months due to his illness (T-Cell Prolymphocytic Leukemia). He past away peacefully last night after a long struggle with the disease, stem cell transplant, chemo etc etc. I just thought I'd share that for anyone that may remember him.

Re:Home Game question
It's been a LOOOOONG time since I've played jack or better/trips to win. However, iirc, you don't have to show the trips to win (assuming everyone folds to your bet) but you do have to show your jacks or better that you opened with. /2c

thanks, tool. It was a simple yes/no question...no story involved whatsoever. Apes, feel free to delete the entire thread for all I care. My question was answered.

Re:Live Sattellite hand - debate over how to play it...
LOL....np man. I agree 100000% Turns out UTG limped with 44 (absolutely horrible), UTG +1 RR with TT (also absohorrid). My friend shoved. Unfortunately SB woke up with KK and after about a full minute of debate (he knew my friend was tight) reluctantly called. UTG and UTG +1 both folded (more terribad). Board shot blanks (actually a 4 on the turn but irrelevant b/c UTG played his hand as bad as humanly possible) and KK held. That was part of the friends "reasoning" for flatting, was because he heard the story after the fact, and knew SB had KK. Results oriented FTL. Thanks all

I agree - but that's why the thread is here. Trying to learn/get thoughts from others to see why other options might be valid. edit: that was for optika's reply but I can't seem to get his quote in here....sigh

Re:Live Sattellite hand - debate over how to play it...
partly this, yes. Also, his line of thinking is totally results oriented. I'm not giving the results of the hand in the question so far for that exact reason. Hindsight is 20/20 - yet blinds some people (the friend) from contsructive discussions.

Re:Live Sattellite hand - debate over how to play it...
Ahh, yes. Good questions. New level (600/1200/100) had just started within the last 5 minutes, and levels are 30 minutes long. Average stack is ~13K (based on 5k starting stack, 450 initial runners and guesstimate of 50 alternates getting in) for the entire tourney, she was 3rd big stack on her table, but close in stack size with 3-4 others. Of the people yet to act, she had all of them covered (except SB) - but barely. Any callers will severely cripple her. Also, she has said that her table had been playing out in such that they all loved to limp and most always folded to raise with rarely ...

Live Sattellite hand - debate over how to play it...edit/results
Winstar Casino on the OK/TX border. $440 sat. to the ME which has a 3M guarantee. 450 entered (plus unknown # of alternates). At least 100 will get seats and there is ~186 left when this hand comes up that a friend was in. 600/1200/100 (ten handed) UTG limps (~5k behind) UTG +1 raises to 3600 (also ~5k behind) fold fold Hero AsKs, stack of 18K remaining 5 that havent acted all have 20-25K stacks. There are obviously 4 options. Fold. Flat. Raise (but not shove). Shove. Most of our discussion amongst several of people has all been after knowing the results of the hand and 1 person in ...

Re:FTP (micro stakes) rake question
Adam, I understand how rake works. But like I said above, I just found it horrid that the max rake could theoretically be 1-1.5x the buy in for the table. Forgive me though, I'm overthinking it in hopes to pass the time at this ridiculous seminar.

Yep, my search skills definitely failed. Still seems horrid to have a rake for a single hand that can theoretically be 1.5x the max buy in for the table. Anyhow...thanks for the link

FTP (micro stakes) rake question
So I am sitting in my continuing education seminar and decide to play 1c/2c Omaha to kill time. I split a multiway pot with another player and noticed I still lost money (granted, only 1c total) so I went to look for FTPs rake info page. Either my search skills failed, or they don't have info on it. They raked 18c on a 1c/2c game. I find it odd that they'd rake 9x the bb. Is it just me' It's not the money (obviously) - it's the % of rake v stakes that blew me away. Does FTP have a rake section on their site' I need something to read while the gal in the front of the room ...

Stirring up the pot' gfy, troll. Last I knew, this is a poker forum. I was curious if anyone had any thoughts as to whether they could see advantages or disadvantages over a particular day. That's why I care. That's why I asked. I was hoping to get some thoughts. To those that replied so far (with non asshat intentions) I say thanks. Why do people find it necessary to fuck up any possibility of discussion on here on every topic possible' If it's a stupid topic - fine. Simply STFU and let the thread die...and take yourself with it.

Sigh. Ok. Let me rephrase and take out all unnecessary verbage and hypothetical reasons/assumptions. Would you rather play Day 1A with ~1000 people, or Day 1D with ~2500 - and why' I'm just looking for insight and reasonings.

Re:Would you rather play day 1A with 1100 ppl, or 1D with 2500?
I was referring to as the tables broke and the chipstacks developed. There's more breaking with more people so later in the day, you have a better chance of getting (potentially) bigger chip stacks at your table. Sorry for the lack of clarity.

Would you rather play day 1A with 1100 ppl, or 1D with 2500?
This is NOT to stir up more static over the shitstorm of the capped 1D. I was about to ask this yday before all that erupted, but figured the timing would be super horrid (probably still is, but w/e). Would you rather play one of the Day 1s with ~1000 players, thus having less mines in the field to avoid, but also having less bad players to bust out giving you less chance at acquiring chips - or would you rather have it the other way around' (more mines to dodge but more accessible chips)

Re:Penalized for Checking the Nuts at the WSOP Day 1 d
I was a TD for the 06 WSOP and it was (and still is) a rule that checking the nuts when last to act is not allowed. I MIGHT still even have the rulebook at home somewhere - I'll see if I can find it. Is it a good rule' I'm not qualified to answer that. There is, however, one rule that stands out above all as a TD: Floor has the right to make any calls as needed to ensure the fairness of the game. Truthfully, based on what I've read, what should have been done was to have the ruling go higher up the ladder (if anyone wanted her to NOT get the penalty)...all the way to Jack, if ...

Re:Moral Dilemma
Cards play. He tabled all 4 face up. What you do from there is up to your standards, really. Using the same hands, but changing the scenario a bit: Imagine your friend had the villains hand, the villain had your hand, it was a massive pot and you were still the ONLY person to notice the mistake. Would you say something' Whatever your answer to that is, SHOULD be the answer to your scenario. Obviously you can argue douchebag factors, idiot factors etc etc, but in the end: cards play. /.02
