Re(6): JC Tran killing them
I think it was JC that I was told several years ago at the WSOP, Ivey approached him and said he'd put him in all of the WSOP events.... JC said no thanks, I only play for myself. That's pretty big balls by JC. This was before he was killing it as bad as he is now. Ivey wants to be your stake horse and you say no thanks' He knows he's the real deal I guess.

Re(1): Online Gambling Spot on CNBC
It's good news that people like CNBC are talking about the issue. They're obviously doing it for the effect it has on gaming company stock.....but any publicity for the issue is good publicity. The more people that know about the issue the better. The Barney Frank issue has a major hill to climb.....but it's certainly progress.

yes, CP won't have to worry about anyone copying their updates. If CP has any updates, then there copied because they'll only be one company allowed to do updates, and it's not CP. Nice little hole they've dug themselves :) Definitely a Christmas card from me to Mr. Belski this year. Nice move sir.

Re(2): Big WSOP News
yeah, there won't be any sweetheart deals this year. No sell outs here at Bluff. No one cares how the "Bluff Family" is doing in a tournament, so we won't be highlighting that. For the live coverage, all the details on that aren't worked out yet, but if ESPN is covering the tournament, we won't be able to have a broadcast on the web. They have the rights to the "table play" in those events. The good news is ESPN is only covering 9 or 10 events of the 55 total events. So, we won't be broadcasting the main event, the HORSE event and a few others, but there are plenty of other tournaments ...

Re(2): Big WSOP News
Cardplayer did not have a choice in the matter. CP is a just an ad rag who sells their cover or whatever someone will pay for. Harrahs wanted a media company. Cardplayer has the summer off, not so bad for them I guess. As for positives out of this, I think you will be able to see all the final tables that ESPN doesn't cover, live over the internet. So if Rizen, Below, etc make any of the prelim final tables (other than the 9 or so ESPN will cover) you will get to see it live.

Re(2): 2007 18+ major poker tournaments and events
I think the WSOP Europe event will have a $10mil+ prize pool. Many of the big pros on 2+2 have already mentioned being 100% in for a $20,000 tournament in London. That should be a big event. That event will be on TV as well as live over the internet.

Re(3): WSOP chip starts doubled.. but so did the Main event blinds..
the best thing about all this is the prelim events. They took out the first level (25/25), but doubled the chips. That's good.

Re(3): Online WSOP Packages In Question
This isn't a rumor, it's a fact already stated by Harrahs. There are a few work arounds that the sites are still looking at I believe. My guess is the sites are going to try to do whatever they can to register players. There are supposedly going to be "10k chips" for the WSOP that the sites my be able to use. I'm not sure what's going to happen here. I think UB has already said the heck with it and is just putting the money each players account. that's not very smart in my opinion.

Re(4): Double starting chips at WSOP!!
I was on this conference call and it was my understanding that the double chip stacks was for the small prelim events only. I.e. the $1,000, $1,500, etc. I'm about 90% sure the ME will be the same. Probably HORSE too. I think they are only trying to change the events where you start with a low amount of chips.

Re(3): Full Tilt WSOP seats
I don't think they've decided yet Crazy. As far as I know they are still planning on somehow buying players into the event. I think UB has already said the hell with it and are just giving people their money. I think FTP is trying to avoid doing that.

yeah, if you're taking an average of all people......meaning college grads, GED people, high school drop outs, basic retards, etc. yeah, that average is probably $30k. Is that really where you want to be included' What do you think the average would be if you got rid of the losers'

Re(4): If you make $200 a day....
Stabby- I agree with you 100%. I know you and AB have been going back and forth and I think people on this board should listen to you and your experience. Not that I disagree with AB completely, but I think a lot of decisions made by people are made off bad information. I guess a lot of this depends on where you live and what kind of life style you want. $50k a year is not much money at all. I live in Atlanta, so things are a little more expensive. You can't have a house, a wife and a couple kids on $50k, that's for damn sure. I think a lot of the misinformation comes from perspective. A ...

Re(2): Quit school for poker? Good or Bad idea
I think its a bad idea. Don't make any decision because you don't know what you're going to be doing after college. Most people in college don't have a clue what they'll be doing in 5 years. Get a degree and figure it out later. Suck it up and get it done. Don't slack off each semester. You need to have some type of degree, even to work at a poker magazine like Bluff. There may be certain rare exceptions, but if you're not a hard enough worker to finish college, you're not a hard enough worker to work at Bluff......just as an example. If you don't get a degree, you'll hear that a lot for ...

Re(6): Thoughts on potential P-stars policy for WSOP
I think you're right beanie. It's going to come down to how much does Pokerstars want to pay to get people to play in the WSOP. They can provide incentives, but how much' Give away a plasma TV' Maybe, but at some point it costs P-stars too much money and isn't worth it.

Re(3): Thoughts on potential P-stars policy for WSOP
Harrahs hasn't allowed registration from pokersites for the last several years. Third party marketing companies have done the registration process for pokerstars and others in the past. Harrahs has mentioned, and it looks like they are going to proceed with only allowing third party registration from "approved" satellite facilities. Basically meaning, the companies who've registered player for the online sites in the past won't be able to do it this year.

Re(2): Thoughts on potential P-stars policy for WSOP
It's almost March 2007 jerichoholic. Maybe I should catch you up. Nothing I'm talking about would be in the damn FAQ.....I'm talking about policy not posted yet by Pokerstars. Harrah's apparently is going to make it very difficult for the sites to register players. UB has already said they are just going to give their players the $10k and they can register themselves. Pokerstars is most likely not going to be able to register players, so they need to come up with a way to "encourage" player to still play the ME since many will just take the 10k and not play. Please edit your post, you ...

Thoughts on potential P-stars policy for WSOP
I haven't spoken to anyone at pokerstars that has told me this......it's just from an email from a support person at pokerstars. Not sure if p-stars will do this, but it's worth talking about... Pokerstars is considering putting in a policy that if you win a sat to the main event, you have to play in it or they can close your account. There's no question a ton of people would not play in the ME and just keep the 10k. There are also plenty of people who would just say forget my stars account, close it and I'll keep my 10k. I still want there to be a ton of people at the WSOP. I'd like to ...

Re(3): King of the Qualifiers (Brag/looking for feedback)
I don't think anyone is going to kill themselves trying to play a bunch of sats so they can win an extra $200. I'd figure out how much money you expect to give away, and roll that in to WSOP ME seats for a promotion that lasts until the middle of June or so. That way, you are selling the fact that everyone should play a bunch of sats and even if you don't win one of the ME seats, you can still get a ME seat by winning the most sats....make any sense' Someone could win 30 sats in the next 3 months, but not win one WSOP seat......but, if they finish in the top 5 (or whatever), they can still ...

Re(2): Advertising at the WSOP, and Pokerstars?
There's a lot of misinformation in here guys. First, the Nevada Gaming Commission is the one in the past who has told Harrahs they can not accept .com advertising. I'm pretty sure it's pressure from the Nevada Gaming Commission that is also putting pressure on Harrahs regarding .net Also, Pokerstars and others not being able to buy in players has been the rule for several years, this is nothing new. If the DOJ comes after ESPN, ESPN can just pay a fine and move on. If Harrahs goes completely against the Nevada Gaming Commission, they could lose their license.....over something that ...

Re(2): Harrahs to ban US poker advertising at 2007 WSOP?
Well, it's definitely not the right step we needed harrahs to take. It will be interesting what comes of this. Last year they made people cover up the .com on shirts, hats, etc.... I assume this year you'll have to cover up the .net And for what's it's worth.....I'm pretty sure the original post is 100% true. I'd assume this means no pokerstars booth with free beer and food either. It's looking more and more like the WSOP is going to be drastically different this year.

Re(4): WSOP Preliminary Event ($1500.00 buy in)
yeah, I agree AB. If $1,500 is a lot of money to you, you might be let down with the $1,500 events. You can still go to the WSOP. There are tons of sats to play and cash games. I recommend all poker players make the journey to the WSOP at some point, but you don't have to play in one of the events. If you do well in the sats or the cash games, then you can get in a $1,500 event and not be heart broken when you bust out in 15 mins.

Re(2): WSOP Preliminary Event ($1500.00 buy in)
I played last year. I thought the blinds started at 25-25 with 1,500 chips, but I could be wrong. The thing I couldn't believe was how weak the play was for such an event. I wondered where in the hell all these guys got $1,500. Obviously every table is different, but I can give you a few examples of how the play at my table went. I built up from 1,500 to about 3,300 without ever showing a card and only getting to the river once, and never even having a pair!! How did that happen' With play like this. I have AK in early position. I think the blinds were 25-50. I raise to like 125. I get ...
