U.S Dollar Actually the dollar is the worst of the fiat currencies. You guys are correct that all fiat currencies are devaluing on an absolute basis (relative to gold) but on a relative basis, the USD is sliding way faster than any other currencies in a race to the bottom. Japan is intentionally devaluing the YEN to attempt to prop up its exports. The G3 currencies are largely doomed as they are being forced to print more and more money to deal with cripple deficits and stagnant economic growth. Obama Fail 2...dude is on a roll At first I thought the OPs argument made some sense, however, it makes the implicit assumption that public health care will in some way be competing the private health care. If this assumption is true, then yes, a private FOR PROFIT company cannot compete with a government subsidized public entity that does not need to make a profit to survive. In some way we are to believe, as per the OPs argument, that this new public healthcare will be the same quality as private healthcare. Again, I think this is incorrect. Some, if not a majority, of it must be in investments of varying liquidities. WTF is wrong with my ear? MUPP or anyone else... Could be a perforation. It wouldn't be painful because there are no nerves in your tympanic membrane (eardrum). !! Puke spot with AA Final table of the 5r ==> Results Now In!! I'm probably jamming the turn here unless I want to try to check/induce bluff/all in. You have to bet because if you check the turn you have no idea what is going on the villian may just be taking a shot because you backed off after firing the c-bet. Your stack size is such that you can't really make any bet into that pot on the turn other than all-in. As played I shove on this guy he could have top pair you don't know and even if he has two pair you have a shot at catching up. OT help solve this argument. This is actually a much too complicaticated explanation, but it works, so I put it in. Intuitively, the probability of having the $1M changes as new information becomes available. As cases are selected and eliminated, we get new information and we can update our probabilities accordingly. What is the chance we draw an Ace from a recently shuffled deck' 4/52=1/13. Now lets say we draw TEN cards and none of them is an ace. What are the odds we draw an ace from the deck, is it still 1/13' No, we have additional information now and the probability is 4/42 = 2/21. OT help solve this argument. Brianyut: Your Matlab simulation is correct only if the logic which you used to build it is correct, however, your logic IS correct so your simulation is correct, too (I'm just saying it isn't the best tool to settle this argument because the results of the simulation are contingent on what probability models you used to construct it). I can provide another explanation as to why 50% is correct using Baye's Law. I will say that anything your are willing to limp/call shove with you should be open raising. End the Depression - Increase taxes to 90% The end of the depression was due to increased deficit spending by the government, which implies government spending increased more than income tax revenue. OP, you may be correct that taxes were raised, but this was NOT the reason the economy recovered. Increasing government spending by increased income taxes will do nothing for the economy because consumer spending is substituted for government spending in a zero-sum game with no "trickle down" effect (see fiscal policy and income multiplier).
