HU Super sng's on Full tilt, luck or skill? They are skill... It will be hard to manage anything higher than a 4% ROI at best in them but obviously you can put in tons of volume in them. Most winning players range somewhere from the 1-3% ROI in them but push that edge with tons of volume that yield great results. They can be extremely sick at times and like many mentioned knowing push/fold is extremely valuable in this BUT it is far from the only skill in them. There are other dynamics that separate the good players from the best in these. If you can't manage tilt/swings they are obviously not for you. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:the backing in high stakes mtt is pathetic Really interesting thread...I think you bring up some great points Nolan and I completely agree with you... Im not a cash game player, oddly enough i play heads up sit n gos and MTTs mostly just on Sundays... I think a big point that Nolan is getting at is the intentions of most players who are getting backed is not the for right reasons and in actuality are holding themselves back by doing so.. Ryanwelch, your situation makes sense and you could play fulltime on your own but are married, bills etc, dont want the stress of your pokeroll dipping into your life roll.. Re:Do You Play Poker For a Living? Interesting post. I have been playing poker as my main source of income for about 3.5-4 years. After a couple years although financially poker was more than paying the bills, personally I wasn't loving the unhealthy routine I had so I got into day trading as well. I've been daytrading for about a year and 8months and its been a roughhhh grind and Im yet to truly make a dollar. Granted I started at an unfortunate time to day trade as I was learning when the market was crashing which was an amazing day trading market and now have been sitting and waiting for things to pick up for over a ... Re:PLO Cash Game Question: Can I fold? THIS! SHOVE IT UP HIS ASS AND SMOKE A FATTY.. haha yessssss But seriously, this is a call but i dont think its always a call like OP said. Given you have info on him being tight/solid hasnt got out of line you make a gross gross fold. Without that knowledge, at this level its a call. But i find it hard to believe a solid player at these stakes is check/raise bluffing without the nuts more then 22% of the time.... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:plz give me ur opinion on this LOLOLOL THISTHISTHIS.. UhhMee speaks the truth... What I'm most surprised by is that so many think this is a SNAP CALL... Ill here the call part of this argument and respectfully disagree BUT the 'snap call', 'easiest call in the world' argument is mind boggling. I think we are clearly overrating the amount of A10, A4, 56, set combos that people make THIS play with. Even if you can convince me they do it a little more % of the time than I'd imagine, the amount of times your out of the tourney (with 150BB's in an unraised pot) verse the expected value of your ... Re:This is a very interesting post...to say the least This is pretty rediculous IMO... I believe there is 0% chance Welch said "def" with the true intention of if he won sending 25%... He didn't win and then think "hmm F*** RJules, im not paying him." He said "Def" without ever thinking RJULES was being serious.. Ive had similar encounters before and I can't say ive even checked to see if that person ended up winning because I knew that my comment was just a friendly joke and would never expect someone to send me X% for winning a tourney that i courteously told them they were sitting out of... Re:Tough Spot w/ AA Beginning of FTP $1k EXACTLY... Frank, what was the point of posting this hand if you lash out at every idea of playing it differently than you did... If you want opinions about the hand, take the advice like a man.. Seems like you played it perfectly according to your logic so no need for advice right' Your overthinking the whole hand and i find it hard to believe there's some support of checking the flop.. You told the world you have AA/KK maybe QQ or AK suited preflop so there is 0 deception, 'pot control' factor on the flop.. If its QQ, GG... If its not, youve made it harder to extract max value ... Re:SIT N GO spot... Curious of peoples thoughts LOL Adam Grear/Vaginas.... I appreciate the responses and think you keyed on my main reason for thinking i must fold is HOW short he is. Im basically guaranteed money and to bubble in this spot is quite disasterous... I just think i used to look at this spot a little less openminded than i do and it is a little closer than a lot of people would think... But thhe thought of bubbling here makes me puke... I need to win the tourney a VERYYYYYYYYYY high percentage of the time after i double for it to be profitable verse the amount of times i bubble and that just isnt the case... SIT N GO spot... Curious of peoples thoughts This is a spot that i used to consider an easy fold as the insurance of making the money is more valuable than taking AJ verse any2... However If i double up here does it get me a victory enough to possibly warrant a call OR does the risk of losing here as a 63% to an overwhelming favorite and bubbling in 4th with no money make it an easy fold... By folding an guaranteeing 3rd place money a very high percentage of the time am i also limiting myself to basically just 3rd place money at best very often by folding. This is where i think a call may happen to be close to +ev. Or do i still have ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Flop spot vs Jordan Kickz Rock i think your jumping to conclusions a little with his image, your image, how he views your image. I think if you Lead 520 and he shoved a fold is definitely possible as he puts u on overpair and not being able to fold.. but with your check i dont think he necessarily puts u on overpair therefore i dont know if check/folding makes any sense as your just assuming he knows you have overpair therefore he would only bet like that with a set to induce your shove. I think IF you check that flop and he bets 520 a fold makes no sense. Chalk it up to a cooler at that point but i dont think you ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:PLO turn spot Interesting spot, I think there are a lot of valid points being thrown around. I do think a smallish bet in the range of 60-85 does the job here. If we are continuing to represtent our line as previously said than we obv wouldnt pot here as i dont think the optimal play with AAA66 here is pot and its not a believeable play. If we have any chance of making a 6 fold a double barrell is the only way with a smallish turn bet and a pot river. Obviously were not just betting to get a 6 to fold but also to make the big wrap pay us off if he wants to play. But i dont think a pot or a big bet does ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:1K Monday interesting spot...What would you do... Very good points and i think we are on the same page here. Its undefined and hard to say raise is right or call is right clearly they are right at different and times and dont think either is necessarily great or terrible just a close spot.. My main reason for calling was i felt villian was good enough to fold most hands where i get value so a raise was essentially getting i had beat to fold and hands i was losing to call.. I still could be wrong but that was my best read at the time. Obviously its situational but wondering what the +ev play is against the 'avg opponent' in the 1K ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:1K Monday interesting spot...What would you do... Interesting points by everyone. A little surprising as i leaned towards not really getting any value shoving and the times i stack off outweighs those thin value spots. I see what you're talking about no point in calling if you can't get value on river but i think thats not true as stated earlier the Q diamonds was the worst possible diamond and if it came 5 diamonds i think its an easy raise and i do get value. Not to mention im not calling against AJ knowing i need a diamond im calling with the draw and many times i have best hand right there but think a raise is just bad. I see why ... Re:optimal way to play this? This is a good point. As others stated, if you check raise flop than hand is bluff unless you really think 99-JJ is in his range and if so then shove pre was appropriate. Therefore at that point check call is best play for value as odds of his range are AK or lower PP and if its AA or KK you're dead anyways. But, as other have said, fold is best play pre unless we know hes maniac. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:optimal way to play this? Kind of sick... I truly think if you call preflop then you basically should play on these boards. Otherwise QQ is basically 22 here as we are essentilly set mining. However, im not sure what is best here as we are balancing no reads other than that there is of shit and awful play in the big sundays making your play fine here OR his line is at worst AK/JJ making a fold pre the safest best play. These 2 ideas are tough and am curious what most people think. Obviously if i have any knowledge/stats of villian not being good i play and anything else i muck pre. IMO Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Hand in PLO $50 rebuy on Stars...to shove or just call the turn? You all are rediculous its funny. First off Id go out on a limb and guess that most of you havent played more then 10 omaha tourneys. The same way my previous sentence isnt that relevant is the same way that the orginal poster did not ask a single question about the preflop action. Yah Billy Kopp should've just folded 53 diamonds and he would have still been in the world series, that is the reason he played it bad. Whether the call preflop is awful or great is not the issue and i think it is funny how you people think the call is "AWFUL" but like I said that isnt the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

I would bet most of the people hating on Kopp would not have made it past day 3 if they got dealt the same exact cards and were in the same exact situations. Re:Losing touch with what style too play Hmm i definitely agree with the points you guys are making but i don't know if you consider his range and the potential loss of value by shoving possibly outweighing "the importance of winning the pot right there for 7k." I don't know if I agree that a fold for +7K or he calls and its a flip or he has a lower flush draw IS better than flatting based on the amount of times his line is a bluff and the fact that we are in position here. I think the situation is a bit too generalized and against certain opponents one of the plays is definitely right and one play is definitely ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
