Re(2): Lets Brainstorm... The main problem I see is that the industry is spread across the globe with no reason for any of the rooms to agree to comply to any review or arbitration. This is how I believe you can regulate a world wide group of idependent companies and players. An Industry accreditation standard that requires all players registered with the site to be a member of an Online Players Association (OPA). The association will hold registrations for all eligible online players who have provided verifiable proof of identity and will supply all players with a chipped membership card and USB smart card reader. ... My brief career as a poker mentor. My best friend has been staying with us for the weekend, we have known each other since we meet at school twenty years ago. We used to play cards together when we were young and later on in the pub and with friends in a home game. Our playing ability historically has always been pretty evenly matched. The last time he came to visit he wanted to play a bit of online poker; he has occasionally played on the internet mostly free rolls and low level S+G’s. So we sat down at the PC with me acting as observer and advisor and he plunged into a S+G; then he very quickly plunged back out again. He ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(5): $5 sng strategy I would also give serious consideration to the amount you are paying in tournament entry fees at the lower limits. For example Party Poker charge $1 to enter a $5 S+G. That represents 20% of your buy in which means you are going to have to be 20% better than the rest of the players at this level just to break even. I would suggest moving up to the 10$ limits as soon as possible where the fee is also $1 but only 10% of the buy in or find a site that charges 50 cents. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Changes to conventional poker wisdom for the modern internet game. An interesting hand occurred the other day and got me thinking. I was watching the missus play in the WSOP weekly final on party poker. If your not familiar with this competition; party run a couple of qualifiers a day and the top 50 get to play in a tournament on Saturday evening where the top 24 get WSOP entry. I think it was the 5th or 6th hand in and she got dealt pocket aces in early position. I watched in horror as she raised four times the BB (about 100) and picked up six callers in, Flop comes reasonably unthreatening Q 8 4 or something. Now the missus is first to act and the pot is ...
