tempered apologies i only have a few hundred posts on this board or w/e, but some of you may know me as I have been rather combative throughout the past couple years. for that i apologize. quick story. id always played a decent volume online between cash/sngs/tourney and profited maybe a bit every yr. I moved to DC and came to play in an underground 2/5 game throughout my time there. the game would get pretty big, half the table would have 1000 bb's in front of them on a good night. lots of crazy, rich, asians. I won and lost over 10K in any night there, it was insane, yet intellectually, in terms of the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:WTF spot vs. Raszi early in warmup i assume you mean you just don't think you can get 3 streets of value from him here. i think many players miss value with this type of thinking but i dunno. if u bet hands like this the whole way and ppl see that eventually ur range in these spots is merged to the point where they have to call u lighter, enabling you to get value on all streets in spots similar to this. i dunno about this specific spot i guess just b/c of his calling range pre and the board, but i just hate that c/c flop or turn with mid-strength hands line that some trny players rationalize with the pot control/trny ... Re:WTF spot vs. Raszi early in warmup u obv beat nothing in his value range but ur smallish bet on the riv seems pretty transparent in that it looks like a thin value/blocking bet, which many cash regs at least will often bluff shove over with like aq that theyre turning into a bluff. although he prolly doesnt call pre with a hand like that. either way, fold. as for ur line, id just bet all 3 streets and fold to a raise by him at any point Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How many of you think grinding MTTs is a waste? no-dont make that much- dont think any 26yo working for someone else does- but he's prolly backed- and if hes not then hes making way more than the avg ranked p5'r. also, when u consider that a normal salary goes up each year, and b/c the games will continue to get tougher, a poker players salary theoretically will go down each year (if it doesnt eventually go away altogether) the lifetime earning expectation isn't even close just trying to give another perspective b/c theres posts in this thread seriously advocating mtts over college/grad school and thats just a terrible fking ... Re:How many of you think grinding MTTs is a waste? sigh. standard p5's response. not bitter, don't suck, but am younger and make more money than u and most other ranked players on this site at one of those terrible "real" jobs, so i guess i just have a different perspective even if ur winning $ at mtt's it doesnt mean its not a "waste" - theres this thing called opportunity cost and if ur smart enough to be crushing mtt's ur prolly smart enough that if you invested ur time in other areas (school, etc...) it would pay far more tangible and intangible benefits in the long run Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How many of you think grinding MTTs is a waste? hahaha, no offense matt u seem like a good guy but if you've read this thread you are effectively encouraging kids to choose mtt's over school. just bc you've "overcome variance" and won 2 bracelets doesnt mean you are even close to representative of how it will turn out for most - many of whom are probably as good or better than u at this game - so you really shouldn't be "spouting" that kind of stuff. you giving kids these delusions of grandeur is akin to kanye west naming his cds "college dropout" and effectively telling inner city kids to fuck ... Re:what happened to Shaun Deeb? haha i love it. someone with my miniscule scores getting 2 pages of flaming. that of course indicates a completely preposterous post right' wrong, it means that theres a shitload of truth to my posts and you ppl know it, but still desperately try to justify why you will eventually end up where u want to be. some obv will, but most wont (even among the ranked guys) and thats the cold hard truth. keep grinding out that rent money though, its noble work you guys are doing Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:what happened to Shaun Deeb? no obv not i just said that ppl who work jobs dont do that. my point is that being a poker player wont let u retire at 35 (from poker) either, as many seem to think it will. and that many will be forced to continue to grind as a career, due to a lack of other options Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:what happened to Shaun Deeb? all i would respond to is that i think ppl who play poker and make say 100k/yr always say this, that they will use the $ they make for other investments, real estate, etc... that is a total copout and wishful thinking for their futures imo. ppl with "real" jobs making much more than $100k/yr dont just work for 10 years and then "make good investments, get into real estate, etc..." and just stop working lol. money does make money true, but you cant live off of just investing ur money in real estate and other investments unless u have a shitload of it. and tbh the amount of ... Re:what happened to Shaun Deeb? this. i have 2 friends who are backed by former ranked players on this site, both of these guys have 60+k in PROFIT this year between live and online, and their "life rolls" are both under 5k, despite the fact they live very modest lifestyles. also, wtf are these guys going to be doing when theyre 30' 40' grinding mtts still' playing hs cash and balling out of control' lol. ppl dont realize that the high stakes cash ballers all started back when the games were soooo much weaker. its effectively impossible to build a life roll big enough to properly play in the big cash games ... Re:***WSOP Main Event thread*** anyone who thinks cadas 4bet shove with 22 is worse than saout's 3b overshove with 88 is wrong. im guessing cadas play was more profitable than saouts long term. also in the hu, when u are playing an overly aggressive spewy player hu (which is exactly what darvin was), you need to wait for very good spots in order to optimally exploit your HUGE edge, b/c those spots will inevitably come. the aq and j9 v. j9 were marginal at spots at best, and any good hu player would make the same folds. cadas only bad play was the aj call v. the oldest looking 32 yr old ever. its a shame most ppl wont ... Re:Durrr and Isildur1 HU for rollz nah he ended up beating cts for like 500k in a session after he initially lost 200K in an earlier session. now up like 2.2 mil or so on durrrr, which is a ton even to durrrr i believe - mainly b/c its hard to find the action to win that back quickly Posted in: Poker Community |

Re:Durrr and Isildur1 HU for rollz i disagree. i think edges are enhanced in long hu sessions like this. if you are owning one person u are just one level ahead of them, and that different from an identifiably mathematical "edge" that a six max, fr, or tourney grinder has.
