you could turn down every single black applicant. the EEOC wouldn't have any jurisdiction over a business with 5 employees. so it's like 100% viable. of course, that is what happens when you make laws. you also make loopholes.

if an employer doesn't think a smoker will be able to handle the work, he should be able to pass them over. not even the federal government can tell you who you have to hire. it isn't discrimination by law to be selective. if I owned a company that employed 5 people, I could turn down every black applicant and never need worry about an EEOC action. I would need to worry about what the court of public opinion thought about my business though.

TP, if you are telling people who they can't not hire, then you are telling them who they must hire. you see "can't" and "not" are both negatives, and like math, a double negative in language means a positive. tkeat, where in EEOC is a no smoking clause' not that I agree with the any of the other aspects of the EEOC. you are aware that not all businesses have to even follow the EEOC as well right'

this is also horrible advice because you are then compounding risk, especially if there was a balance at the time of job loss. a more conservative plan of a savings account/money market for emergencies is better. put away 3-6 months expenses depending on if you are single or married w/ kids. actually given the economy everyone might want to go heavy on the savings. CCs are really for suckers. and when there are debit cards w/ perks there isn't really an excuse to have them anymore. yes debit perks aren't as enticing, but CCs have had to raise the stakes to keep stealing stupid people's money.
