Simple Common Preflop Spot. AK early in tournament OOP Chardrian, if you go all the way through my reply i included QQ+ in that polarized range. @ PGA - i have no problem with flatting AK pre if player is confident in post flop play. I just felt with this guys frustrations, it might make it easier for him post flop this way. As for flatting everything here, is this for pot control OOP or just deception' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Simple Common Preflop Spot. AK early in tournament OOP from the blinds your 3-bet range is probably 33-JJ, KJs+, AJs+,KQ, AQ. With that in mind when you open that first flop it looks defensive more than strong. You don't really see sets open here, they usually c/c or c/r. Because we have taken QQ+ out of your range with the 3-bet we now think you have a broadway hand that's missed the flop or a small pair that isn't a set and maybe TT or JJ so we raise and if you 5bet shove get out your way. Same thing on 2nd hand. With your range the ace has hit so we the villain can shut it down. My suggestion is to see how you do with polarizing your range ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Spot vs uaredead in the nightly 40k I get that if we go ahead and reraise here we tighten the shove range of those 3 stacks behind us, but if we are never folding to those shoves anyway, why not put in the raise here'' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Am I ever not Jamming here? Don't like the jam here... with a raise from UTG+1 and then a flat before you.. Jamming seems a little too volitile imo.. call me nitty but i go for fold... if you flat the only flop that you can be confident in will contain a jack... GL Posted in: Poker Discussion |

AA in the BB with a small stack all in and two callers If there had been only one caller, then your shove would be more believable as an iso. But against more than one caller it looks more like exactly what you had, because you are showing that you like your hand enough to risk your tourny while still deep stacked but you dont want to face a lot of opponents. I think the shove is fine as you are increasing your stack by 50% when you win here, which is most of the time. But your play doesn't read as iso shove IMO. GL Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Sunday million, fairly deep, AQo w/ 19bb stack i think this is one of those "omg i am stupid to be doing this" folds... but i think you have to fold.. i've got the UTG shoving the top 20% of hands which may still be tight this is: 66+,A4s+,K8s+,Q9s+,J9s+,T9s,A9o+,KTo+,QTo+,JTo then the 1rst call can probably call with about 15% of hands, this is: 77+,A7s+,K9s+,QTs+,JTs,ATo+,KTo+,QJo the 2nd call is the one id be worried about. i give him a range of top 5% which is: 99+,AJs+,KQs,AKo,KQo because this 2nd caller smmybchup has put in a little over 20% of his stack i don't think he can be folding this late. if your shove ... Re:How do you like my play? Turn bet OK? i don't really like the open shove on the river. with them only calling on th previous streets it looks like they are probably on a draw as sets or 2 pair would have reraised earlier in this hand.. with that said the 7c ONLY completes the gutshot straight. with that being an unlikely holding, (even though that's exactly what he had its still not a usual holding here) i check. the missed flush draws will usually put in a raise because they figure thats the only way they can win the hand at that point, so you check they bluff, you call... your open shove here shouldnt get paid off by ... Re:What to do here? the only time ive heard people really advocate folding one of the BIG 2 pre, is in the very early rounds when you are superdeep of a mega tourny like the main event.. the arguments made are made by the pros who feel they can out play most of the players in such a tourny and dont want to risk losing to AK or to a lucky player vs. their AA when they will probably out play that player for their chips later... as for online play i have never heard of anyone advocating you fold holding KK here if you lose to AA or AK chalk it up to the cooler gods, throw something (hopefully something cheap) out ... Re:How to get value here? no way, who would call a 1/3 pot bet and not a 1/2 to 3/4 pot bet... NO ONE!!!.. thus you are leaving chips on the table... im assuming you are wanting to make this tiny bet in hopes of getting a reraise so you can shove but all hands with reraise strength would have bet after the check on the flop because of the draw heavy board.. no no no this is not the route to take GL Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Full Tilt $26 18k - Whats your play with Flush and gutter draw on flop why you raise: 1) to build a pot with the best hand 2) to make opponents fold better hands right here we may not have the best hand but rather a good shot at making the best hand... i find it hard to believe that we are going to drive out any hand better than ours on this board... so if we are going to get committed, which is a must in this hand, then go ahead and get maximum value for the hand.. if he's going to call 1950 hes going to call All IN here.. Re:Full Tilt $26 18k - Whats your play with Flush and gutter draw on flop after his flop bet the pot is 1380 which reps. 41% of your stack of 3355 so taking the pot down right now would be nice.. as for how you stand... im giviing him a range of JJ-66,22,AJs-ATs,suited connectors 89-KQ, one gap suited connectors T8-KJ, KTs, and AJo... AA,KK,QQ, and AK reraise pre so doubt he has one of those... your check on the flop signals weakness so he can raise on a scary board with all of these... against this range you are 59% to 41% if you flat and a brick comes off like 3c, you then become underdog so go ahead and shove the flop.. Re:did i play this ok? CSU, Lord said it all but i am going to have to argue one point.. you do want to making this raise pre.. you have a stack of 100+ bbs so you are definitely able to make moves right now.. raising with these type of suited connectors will hide when you have big hands in these early positions because your raise would be the same, thus you will get your big hands paid off more.. in this hand after he has shown strength all the way you have to fold to his bet on the turn GL Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:This is prob pretty standard but.. Jezz, he pretty much could have any pair 22- JJ , A8 - AJ, & suited Aces, odds are against AK, AQ, QQ+ because you would see a reraise preflop.. these hands want to get to heads up and simply flatting your raise leaves the door open for multiple callers like you had in your hand.. so of this range you are ahead of 22-44, 66-1010, and any ace that's not AJ or A5.. as you are ahead of 80% of his range here, i would like to call his raise and take a turn, i don't want to reraise here because im not wanting to build a huge pot this early in the tourney with only one pair.. ...
