Re(2): Is this a normal backing deal??
My experience in live "pro" tourneys is limited.. My cash game and home game experience is a lot more..( see my profile )..The $500 buy-in last year was the first "pro" tourney I have ever bought into and I did fairly well. I wasnt intimidated at all and I felt comfortable. This year I wanted to do the three events I mentioned but was going to cramp my cash game by buying into all 3 myself so have my friend offer to split the buy-in's is helping me with cash flow. lilphil

Re(3): Is this a normal backing deal??
Yes, I'm putting up 50% of all buy-in's... Last year I only entered the $500 event and out of 843 people I finished 88th...Top 80 paid...DOH!!!! I'm going to play a few Act Sat's for the main event also, but with those I'm on my own. Thanks for your input guys. lilphil

Is this a normal backing deal??
I'm going to Foxwoods next week and I'm going to play in the $500, $1000, and $2000 events. A friend of mine wants to split the entry fees with me and if I cash in any , or all of the events, we'll split the profits 50-50. Is this how a normal tourney backing deal works'' I think its more than fair...Do you agree'' Any thoughts or comments' lilphil

Pocket 5's takes down a $2800 pot in 1-2 nl home game!!!!!!
I just had to share this hand because it was pocket 5's that won it. In our huge Sunday game last week ( 11 handed, over $12,000 on table in chips, about 2 am ).. I'm dealt 55 in SB...aggressive player UTG makes it $17 to go...5 callers and I call. Flop comes 10,5,7 rainbow...I check. utg bets 40...3 callers, I call. Turn 7 ( money card )...I check again...utg bets $150..amazingly gets the same 3 calls...I raise to $400 to see who has a 7....utg calls..and another loose player also calls..the other folds... River is a blank 4....Now I bet to put the utg player all in ( about $600 ...

Re(2): Hello all and some ?s bout Foxwoods
I played in these last year and I will be in both again this year. The starting chips for both are 1500 and the blinds are 50min levels in the 500 and 60 min in the 1000.. They start at 25-25, 25-50,50-100,100-200, 150-300 with 25 ante..and so on.... Good blind structure but I wish they would give you more chips to start.. I'll see you there..... lilphil

I played with James Woods in a Act 3 Satillitte in Foxwoods last year and he played ok..He played tight and seemed to know what he was doing....He sat two seats to my left.. I was impressed how nice of a guy he was..down to earth and very talkitive.. lilphil

I'll also be at Foxwoods. I'll be playing the 500+65 on the 2nd and the 1000+100 on the 5th, and a few Acts for the main events. Two Trees Inn has poker player room rates for $89 per night as long as you show a receipt for a tourney buy-in ( Acts dont count ). I would love to meet some other P'5ers there...email me jimel617@ lilphil

Re(3): Any PocketFiver's From North Carolina
Sepslugseven, I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and a lot of the action we get here comes from NC. There are a few pros that live in NC that come to the beach to play in the higher tourneys and cash games. Two weeks ago we had 4 tourneys ( one $1,000 buy in and three $500) and $50-$100 limit holdem cash games. Chris Bell ( ranked 46th on ) and Denis Ethier ( bracelet winner in the $2000 seven card stud hi-lo split in this years World Series) were among the players that came to the beach. The home games here are great ( read my profile ). It is worth a weekend trip from NC every so often to play. ...

Re(2): Steve Zolotow on HBO's Cathouse series??
I wonder why he would allow his face to appear on T.V. on a show like that. I would think anybody who appears on camera on any type of reality show ( escpecially one about hookers!! )....has to sign a waiver to allow themselves to appear on T.V. Maybe he assumed that he wouldnt be recognized...After all,it's not like poker players would have any interest in watching a show that had beautiful women walking around naked all the time......LOL.LOL.LOL lilphil

Steve Zolotow on HBO's Cathouse series??
Guys...I just finished watching episode #4 of HBO's Cathouse series..The show about the famous "Bunny Ranch" brothel in Nevada.. In the first minute or so I would swear that I see Steve Zolotow face in one brief clip!! How many people look like him. It's right after the clip of someone's fingers on an ATM, they switch to a man's face and that guy has got to be Stevie Z..... Somebody else please check HBO on Demand and tell me if they think it's him too. BTW..the show itself is pretty good too....LOL... lilphil

Re(1): please tell me i played this right, casino 2-5 nl hand
I would have pushed in pre-flop, but I have a feeling donkey-boy with the A7 would have called anyway. Not much you could do. Most bad players over value AX.... I played some2-5 nl at the Borgata and saw players calling re raises of up to $100 with any Ace pre-flop....go figure. That's my 2 cents... lilphil

Thanks for the responses......Very good point Mickelson82...Those two outers are MUCH more noticable now! The one other thing I thought of was , even though I may not notice it , I wonder if I'm playing a little different...What I mean is I subconsciously, I might be playing scared and not realizing it....I have to refocus and get back to my normal game... Response to TQ's " Taking the plunge" post.......
I " took the plunge " myself 2 months ago when I was laid of my job ( $50,000 per year sales ). For the past two years I have been playing in local home games ( see my bio ) supporting my income 2-3 nights a week. Before I was laid off I won $3900 on PP in two tourneys and I was winning on average $1000 per week profit in home games. When I was laid off I figured " no problem " , I'm doing so well playing cards I'll just play for a while and see if I can make it. I am not a good online player so I mainly focus on my local games ( some of which I run ), and trips to AC and ...

Question about sheets....
Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but..... Are sheets, beanie and Paul Nobles all the same person''' The reason I ask is beacause while playing an Act 3 sat in the WPF at Foxwoods a few months back a player I was sitting next to pointed out to me who Paul Nobles was saying that he was beanie from UB, and he looks like the guy in sheets' bio page. Again, please forgive my stupidity, but I just had to ask...... lilphil
