Re:Big Poker Oktober @ the bike. ?s...
I can tell you it is NOT for the dealers. I have a friend who works there and all "tips for the staff" go ONLY to the TDs and Assistant TDs and the dealers get ZIPPO. The only reason she puts up with it is because she is hoping to get moved to cash games where the dealers DO get to keep their tips. She told me if I want to tip a tourney dealer, I have to nab them outside the tourney room and give it to them privately.

ADVICE NEEDED ON RUNNING BAD
I'd appreciate some input on this problem. CLIFF NOTES AT BOTTOM I've been a winning player every year since I started playing (2005). I don't play much on line 'cause ever since UIGEA passed, I suck at on line poker and I know it . Up until 2008 I was a winning player by virute of tournament wins/cashes but was a losing cash game player. In 2008 I became not only a winning cash game player for that year, but overall...I think cause I finally found my game [9-18 Limit HE,20-40 Limit HE]. Ever since May, when I won the Commerce California State Poker Champioship HORSE event ...

Re:Turning Pro
You're an engineer' Don't do it. I'm a lawyer...not even close to the top of the heap, but I make 130K + mega benefits...and have time to play poker. After winning the Commerce HORSE event, and doing real well in 20-40 limit cash games, I have gone on the worst run of my avocation... The gift is I've been able to play lower and now virtually not at all for a month...and I still make 130K + benefits and have most of my roll...

Re:What happen to Tony Dunst Blog on Cardplayer?
I agree. New version sucks. And while they were at it, they couldn't update the choice of games on the Poker Tracker' Still no HORSE, No Stud H/L, but they have Lowball. Other than taking a time machine back to Gardena in 1988, I don't know of anyone who plays Lowball.

Re:I NEED HELP, WITH A RECENT BIG CASH----------
Pay your taxes obviously on ALL winnings...and then... hopefully you have set up the free software on for the Poker Analyst to keep track of all cash/tourney wins and losses SO YOU CAN OFFSET with any losses. Also, pay yourself and don't use all the money for your bankroll.

BRAG POST: CAL POKER CHAMPIONSHIP IN H.O.R.S.E.
I realize its not an on-line win, but I just had my second live large tourney win over the weekend and wanted to share the news. Last year in the California State Poker Championships, I made it deep but went out after 13 1/2 hours in the $335 H.O.R.S.E. tourney. This year they raised the buy-in to $545 and I took it down. Heads up I didn't realize who the other guy was, but my friends railing me did some research and found out it was a guy with two WSOP bracelets in razz and stud 8. Ironically those were the two games that saved me repeatedly throughout the tourney although I scooped ...

Re:Vegas casinos and LIVE RAZZ Cash games
Actually at the Series last year, we got a 10-20 limit HORSE game going at The Mirage a few times. Never seen Razz spread anywhere except the Commerce 300-600 -- just a wee bit outta my bamkroll. If you are there at the series during May 28-June 7 or during the razz world series event send me an email and we'll try to get a razz or HORSE game going. At Venetian, they had a 6-12 horse game once late at night; At Wynn I've seen a 20-40 HOE game [obv no razz]

Re:What would happen in 7-card Stud...
Actually it depends on the casino. Some use a community 7th street card; if any players drop out before 7th street and there are not enough cards, some shuffle the discards.

ADVICE NEEDED ON HORSE AND STUD H/L
I recently started playing on line after a LONG break; pretty much $24+2 HORSE and variations on FTP. So here is where I need help. My cash rate is [on an admittedly small sample] 70%. Even when I don't cash I'm on the bubble. Some of my recent scores are not posted because for example, I made FT on the FTP 2,000 Guarantee Stud H/L but there were 94 players so it did not qualify for PLB. Last night is a perfect example. I was chip leader in the HORSE 24+2 for an hour. When I get to Stud H/L, in the later rounds, I switch from playing three card lows, trying to make a low and then ...

Re:WHy cant I beat 3/6 LImit (20$ for the best suggestions!!
I only read the first three hands cause my attention span isn't that great. Hand 1 - Raise with K-Qo given your position. You may still get called by the 10-6 but that is the nature of limit and you want to make him pay to donk call you. Hand 2 - Played it fine. Hand 3 - Dump A-2 when there has already been a caller in front of you. My original advice before I realized this was online rather than live was that you really cannot beat the rake in 3-6 limit. But "never mind" since its online.

GRATITUDE: MY JOB WAS SPARED
I usually post in PD, and not OT, but I need to share some gratitude. I am an in-house lawyer with Safeco Insurance. I'm the guy that defends your business or you as a homeowner, when you get sued. In April, Safeco made a deal to be sold to Liberty Mutual. The CEO of Safeco, who worked there for 2 years and 6 months, walked away with 17 million dollars. I've worked there about the same amount of time. Liberty Mutual has its own house counsel operation, so we knew some of us would be absored -- but many would not. Today was like watching bad election night returns as office after ...

Re:What is your crappiest day in poker?
1) In September at the California State Poker Championship HORSE event, 186 entries. I am in the tourney for 13 1/2 hours and bust in 19th...they paid 16. I had 40,000 in chips with 22 to go [everyone essentially fairly shortstacked, but still]... 2) Since August roll has dropped from 14K to 9K practicing rigorous bankroll management...just on a bad run... 3) UIGUA...since it passed I haven't won a fucking thing on line.

Re:Where did structured holdem games go????
In Southern California, limit is alive and well. I agree limit is where to make one's living. If you've spent any time at the Mirage, then you know the poker manager's feelings on limit vs. no limit: 1) limit permits a lot more post-flop play. 2) no-limit is quite boring if you play it properly -- waiting and waiting for the right hand and then more waiting for someone to make a decision; 3) no limit is killing the poker economy; when Mr. Donkey plays limit, he makes a little, he loses more and he has the illusion that he is not so bad. He comes back to the poker room and plays ...

I agree with all of the above EXCEPT "Iceman" wasn't obnoxious. I heard Hevad Khan realized what a douche he looked like last year...it also didn't help he was a 22 year old in a 50 year old man's face and body. But the list goes on and on....remember Eric Molina' Decent people like Wasicka, Allan Cunningham, women like Maria Ho, Sabyl Cohen, etc. just do not generate viewer interest except for those of us who love poker.

Re:COLLEGE OR POKER? POKER OR COLLEGE??
College...I know most of you fear poker will go by the wayside...of course, they thought that in 1847... BTW making a 100K consistently in poker does not equal 100K at a job with a company because the benefits -- medical insurance, disability, dental, life insurance, paid vacation, paid sick days, 401K contributions, etc. add approximately 28% of your salary...

Re:Best Player & Worst to win WSOP ME and Runner UP
Absolutely Hal Fowler was the worst to win it. I think you are being unfair to McEvoy; remember it was a different era before the hyper-aggressiveness. Best: Stu Ungar Best runner up: Seidel Worst runner up: I plead ignorance on this one.
