Am I the only one who loves M.E.T.s? Seems like the smart thing to do, would be to take all that guarantee money and split it into more tournaments w/ 1 entry per person. Say instead of 1 double duece we now have 2. Or instead of $26BI $64k guarantee we could have 4 $16k guarantees run at the same time or close to the same time. That would satisfy the need to multi table as well as give players better value. I wonder how many entries the MAers are going to have in this upcoming FTOPS. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Rounders 2 - Second poker boom? I can't imagine any way they could pull off a believable representation of these characters later in their lives, than to make it a comedy. I think if they try to go with a serious tone like the original it's going to either not be believable, or not have much story value to it. The only thing believable would just be funny IMO, so they should go w/ comedy. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

After reading this, I feel a little better about the iPoker bill not passing What useful purpose would this serve' It seems to me that with limited resources the PPA is better off negotiating the best deal they can and not fighting in vein for something they can't change. That time and energy would be much better spent on other issues like Illinois and Washington State pressing legal matters. I agree it sucks, but in life sometimes you have to give concessions and live with it. Pick your battles. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

how much money would you need to earn to Leave poker ? The ideal is to go where you make the most money. If you're making more money in your job, then play poker on the side. If you make more money playing poker, then play poker. If you're making more money trading stocks, and doing business deals, then play poker on the side. I see no reason to quit though. my 6yo loves poker Poker is a fun game, that otherwise losers at life can make money at. Chess is a fun game too. Teach him something worthwhile that he can build a career on. He will only hate you later if all you teach him is to be a pro poker player. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

The Best Poker Books Out There? Wish in one hand and shit in the other. Which one fills up first' Positive thinking is good yes, but to get positive results you need to take positive action. Wishing alone won't accomplish anything. Setting a goal, then taking action to achieve that goal will accomplish great things. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Fulltilt returned checks?????? Same here. Sent an email asking if I could do anything about it if there was some kind of problem. They answered with "contact us after the 15 business days and we will help you" If we know there's a problem can we just be honest about it instead of the smokescreen' Would like to come up with an alternate plan. Best 30" monitor He wants a 30" monitor not a TV. A monitor will have a much higher resolution and much better picture quality than a TV of similar size. That's why the cost so much. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Random FTP disconnects I've been having the problem today as well as intermittently in the past. I'm playing in Oregon right now, and am on Charter internet. Even if it's not FTPs fault directly, if they know how to solve this problem for their customers they should be taking steps to do so. It is happening to enough people now that it would be a good business move on their part to go public with this and help us resolve the issue. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Most Affordable multiple monitor setup This is what I'll be getting myself for x-mas. I already have a 22". I don't think I'll need multiple monitors after I buy this though. 1 should be sufficient for 10-12 tabling. It's not the most baller monitor $ can buy but it is a solid, reliable, affordable monitor for multi-tabling poker. It also has a good response time and high resolution for gaming if you're into that. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Would you take a deal heads up in an MTT to make it winner-take-all? It's basically the same thing as playing a $215,000 HU SnG. If you're bankrolled for that then go for it. If not then no. And if you think your net loss would only be $215 here, that's wrong. Your chips at this point in the tournament are worth way more than your initial buy-in. Your net loss would be $215,000, or the current value of your chips. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Starting Fresh. WWYD with $500? <-------- First post, longtime Read "The Poker Mindset" OP it is clear to most people ITT that you don't have the right mindset. Most importantly your goal shouldn't be to make money, it should be to make correct decisions. If you are playing to make money you are going to be very tilted and play bad when you lose money. You should go into every session indifferent to your results win or lose. You're focus should be on making the right decisions, not making money. Secondly, but equally important, you should not be playing for excitement, in fact you should have as little emotional attachment to your results as possible. ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Unneccesary spew or solid semi-double barrel? 10:1 is pretty good odds, but with the equity you have in the hand you need to get the money in on the flop. You have a lot less equity on the turn and are never getting called by worse. I'm surprised he called w/ 2 pair. As a bluff it's ok, but if you thought you were shoving for value, you're never getting value in this spot. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Drama: Andrew Robl flames Daniel Negreanu (doubt he cares) Thought it was incredibly ironic that DN has the gall to say Robl is being scummy or whatever for not straddling. This right after DN busts out the Loose Cannon who was playing for kids w/ autism and he didn't even offer to contribute some of his ill gotten gains to her charity. Well played Daniel Negreanu, raising the bar every time we see you on TV. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

4bet bluffs in 26$ MTT's I think a better strategy is tightening your opening range and 4 betting lighter for value against a spaz. That said there are players and situations in a $26 that 4bet bluffing is right, but it's rare. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Players with huge volume and huge cashes but marginal (at best) ROI Obviously at every level of poker, players from every skill level are represented. You can't expect to only find the two extreme ends of the spectrum. If the poker economy only consisted of high stakes beasts crushing the games and mega fish donating all their money, we wouldn't have a game for very long. You have to have the marginal winners and the marginal losers as well. I'm sure ego plays a part in a marginal winner playing the high stakes instead of dropping down to something they have a bigger edge in. Do we really want to encourage these above average players to play the mid stakes' ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Poker on TV No longer interesting... Why? Too much focus on BIG EXCITING standard coolers. Not enough focus or informed analysis on the more marginal complex hands. That's why watching cash games is so much more entertaining especially when they have a host that has some clue of what's happening in the hands. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
