Is this cheating ?? Is this ok ??
I really don't understand the intensity of the debate on this stuff. Who really cares if two friends want to sit together and talk while one of them plays online poker' 99.9% of the time neither one is world class, and most of the time neither of them is even good at all. Online poker isn't live poker, I don't know why we keep trying to govern it with the principle of one player to a hand. Everone needs to just understand that an online opponent might be more than one person, that's just all there is to it. And as was said, we should also allow everyone to change names whenever they want. ...

Ongame guarantees in freefall?
What's up at ongame right now' Over the last week or so the guarantees in their tournaments have been lowered 3 or 4 times and seem to be in freefall. Most tourneys are suddenly at half the value they were before. I never paid much attention before, but I think most guarantees were being met until they started lowering them. Maybe occasionally there might have been an overlay, but I believe it was rare.... I guess I could be wrong though, it's not something I've kept track of. The concerning thing is the guarantees are suddenly not being met with enough players no matter how low they go, ...

Full Tilt's SNGs Structure
I think you need to work on adjusting on the bubble, and also your 3 handed and heads up game. Here's a couple of things you might be able to work on right away. 1. On the bubble, when there is a very short stack at the table and you have a medium stack, you absolutely must not bust. Correct strategy is to wait him out. If a big stack moves in on you during this time, you can't call with even JJ or AK. Sometimes even QQ and KK aren't good enough if the situation is extreme. Of course you will win chips in the long run by calling, but you'll actually lose money because you'll bust 20% of the ...

Pokerroad slow?
Is it just my shitty computer, or is pokerroad really slow for anyone else' I don't usually have problems with any other site, but the videos either don't load, or they're super choppy. Plus the main page is retardedly slow just scrolling around and refreshing or whatever. I used to love the site, but right now it's got me on mega tilt.

Re:Am I correct ? Aimed toward profitable micro mtt players.
3 betting and 4 betting are the most over-rated things in poker since tells... Any idiot can take two cards and make a big raise, that's not advanced strategy. 3 and 4 betting is all about observation and timing, and it takes a ton of skill and discipline to know when to do it, and even more discipline to know when not to. The less you're paying attention and the more often you attempt these moves without the right conditions, the more likely you are to miss-step. As for whether to play tight or whether to make a bunch of moves... that's not really the right question to ask. ...

Re:Attitude Towards Poker
Almost everyone who plays poker gets burned out sometimes. When that happens, your game goes stale and poker is boring. You can't concentrate for any length of time and it drives you insane. Well, it's part of the grind. And I can tell you one thing from experience... you will definitely get over it. You'll get over it... and then it will happen again and you'll be burned out again. Then this will repeat. When you do anything a lot, it gets boring. Unless you are truly sick, you're going to get burned out from time to time. For now, relax. There are a few things you can ...

Re:Anybody else think Stars payouts are brutal?
It's effing retarded. Should be standard to payout 10% of players, and min-cash should be double the buy-in. Also, I think the top prizes should be a little less, and the money should be spread through the payouts slightly more. But, since the sites generate more rake if players lose slower... we get whatever they want.

Re:help with a hand...
I'd fold it. You have to put in 340K to win 419K, so you're getting about 1.25 to 1 on the call. That's just ok for this spot... against most players, you dump it. The only argument for calling is that he's been active. The problem is though, you haven't seen the hands at showdown, so you don't know if he's actually a certified maniac, or if he's just playing solid and making some hands. Given what you know of him, it's only a little more likely than normal that he could be making a move.... If anything, I think this is pretty close to a neutral EV spot. ...

Re:HSP newest episode
I can see why people wouldn't like Gabe's humor, but he's effing hilarious imo. I think it's a love him or hate him sort of thing. As far as analysis, how many guys out there can describe what's going through the head of ivey or dwan' Gabe obviously isn't at the world class level, but he's been around forever in poker, and he's not a bad player. I think he's as good or better than anyone else that does poker commentary.

Re:MTT 50$ (1+1)
I think you need to blend both options into your game. I'd probably 4 bet ship it almost every time in this spot, but occasionally I would mix in a call with aces under the right conditions. The problem with the call is when a guy has AK, 99, 10 10, JJ, stuff like that, and then an overcard flops or he whiffs on AK, you give him a chance to escape when he would have just gone all in pre. Even when he has QQ or KK and an ace flops you might lose him. In this hand, he's already 3 bet you after you raised utg, so he probably has something. If he's willing to put that bet in there, ...

Re:Congrats to ANNIE DUKE!! Well PLayed.
If nothing else, I think it's a good thing for poker. One of our biggest stars won the only tournament on major network tv. We all know she's not considered a world class heads up player, but to the general public she's about as big of a name as we've got... and it doesn't hurt that she's a female and a mom. Thought I'd start this thread off in a positive light, since there's sure to be some hate coming... Anyway, this is huge for Annie personally to have another moment in the spotlight on a major network, and it's good publicity for the game. Congrats ...

Re:Did I play KK right here??
As for pushing preflop, I would do that if I thought the limper was likely to call. If not, then I'd make a larger bet pre-flop than what you did. When you make such a small bet, it probably makes it correct for the limper to call and see the flop. Of course you want action with kings, but you have to give your opponents opportunities to make mistakes. If you make it 3-4bb's pre, then anyone who calls is making a mistake considering how short your stack is.

Re:how the casino/poker environment makes me feel
Ok, so what you're saying is that people look at you like you're the scum of town because you have long hair and still play N64... and when you go to a casino they think you're a high roller because you smoke weed and order 3 blue lagoon's. Now I'm no Sherlock Holmes here, but could the "high" feeling you have at the casino have something to do with the rocket you smoked before you came inside' And could the guy at the pawn shop think you need money because you're at a pawn shop... and because you're a greasy long-hair douche bag who's come to him to ...

Re:podcasts
I think "The Poker Beat" is the best podcast out there right now. "Poker Road Radio" is good, but since Ali Nejad is gone and Gavin isn't on as much it kinda sucks. Seebok needs other funny people around him to feed off, and I think Stapleton would be better if he didn't have to fill the role of host. I still listen though... And I like the B-team these days. Gobbo, Court, and Devo are pretty solid.

Re:How to play vs. Maniac
Straight out of Harrington on Holdem... There are two basic "moves" to use against a maniac. 1. The hammer. Sometimes you've gotta repop the guy with air and make him lay down his hand. 2. The rope a dope. Make a big hand and let him bluff his stack off to you. Against maniacs who are burning their money, you kind of have to make hands. If they're gonna go all the way with you, the only way to take the money is to beat them at showdown. You just have to be patient and wait for the right spot.

Re:How to play against a nit?
If he's a weak nit, just use a series of small bets to attack him. You're probably not going to take big pots off him, so you have to eat him one bite at a time. The weakness of a tight passive player is that they fold too much. So, you take advantage of that by making him fold too much... If he shows any weakness , just make the smallest bet possible to get him to fold. If he calls or raises, shut down. As for where you want him sitting, it kind of depends on whether he's a good nit or a bad one. If he's bad, it doesn't matter, you just play accordingly. If he's on ...

Re:JJ on SNG Bubble vs the Maniac Twins
Ya, shove it in. They might fold, you can't say for sure. They're tilted maniacs, but it sounds like they're going after eachother. When your buddy ships, they might just both fold in order to stay alive and keep the battle going. If they do both call, you offered them a chance to make a mistake and they made it. After that, the cards fall how they do. If you KNEW that they would both call, maybe it's correct to fold it. For example, if they were already all in (which is the same thing as knowing they will be in the future other than the hand ranges are different), then I ...
