Maybe the biggest hole in my game – I never know what to do with AK here
This is an automatic 3bet pre. The villian is LAG so you are waaaay ahead of his opening range obv. This will make the hand easier to play down the line. By flatting you allow him to remain in the betting lead, so it really doesn't matter what he has, he will have the upper hand and be able to apply pressure to you when u miss. I would make it ~800, putting you in the position to apply pressure to him (make him have to hit to continue instead of vice versa).

Backing and Staking Discussion
I read through the thread and didn't see any questions like this, if i'm wrong let me know. I am being backd and it is fairly new, since mid Sep. We are both new to the whole thing but we came up with a very reasonable deal. Thing is for some reason we agreed to do a profit split just once a month on the 15th. I spent some time in MU but recently made it into the black lately. We split since its been so long since i had been paid, but we agreed to continue with our plan to split on the 15th of every month. Was just wondering if this is common practice or am i kinda getting the shit end of the ...

How accurate is onlinepokerrankings?
I recently started keeping an excel spreadsheet with detailed records to avoid confusion w my backer. I keep track of every mtt, record each rebuy, as well as each bounty collected and cashes. October is the only full month i have on the spreadsheet so far, but when I compare the totals to what is shown on OPR, there is a difference despite the small sample size. They both show the same amount of games played and cashes, but my prizes were actually 2.6% higher than shown on OPR (assuming bc of bounties); ABI was actually 8% higher than shown as well (assuming rebuys the reason); Actual ROI ...

How accurate is onlinepokerrankings?
Exactly, the only thing that isn't 100% accurate on OPR is your profit and your ABI bc of the rebuys. Not sure, but I think poker tracker is inaccurate too for the same reason...that may be wrong tho.

Job or Professional Poker?
I'm pushin 30 and poker has been my main source of income since I graduated college 4 yrs ago. If I had it to do all over again I would have started a career right out of college and play poker only on the like Saturdays and Sundays. By now I could have put a shitload of money away, invested, had a nice down payment for a bigger house (wife wants a 3rd kid soon). Instead I had to use my poker winnings to pay the everyday expenses that life brings. Get started in a career and give yourself some stability and security, then use poker as a way to live better than your coworkers imo.

AQo on the bubble with 27bb vs LAG UTG open ??
ok...imo flatting would be the worse thing you could do here bc for 1 ur oop w likely the best hand and the villian controls the betting. u will put yourself in a very tough spot post flop. Also you must constantly be accumulating chips in tournaments. The bubble should be a reason you SHOULD be playing back at an aggro villian bc he is likely opening even wider than he normally does. I like inducing a 4 bet jam by worse better than reshoving

For players with wife and kids
I am not opposed to joining the workforce and am fully prepared to if that's what I have to do, I have a college degree that should help me get my foot in the door somewhere. I always have and always will have an entrepreneurial spirit and poker is NOT what I want to do the rest of my life. I hope to always be in business for myself tho, it's what makes me happy. Just so happens, given the current economic climate and the fact that not many new businesses are thriving, that poker is my main and most likely source of revenue atm. O yea and just FYI, I spend mostly every moment away from the ...

this this is it completely. its nice to see the same situation compared to someone trying to run their own business out of a home office. the same conflicts arise. i think i'm gonna try to get myself a small office as soon as i can justify it financially ie. as soon as i take somethin down. plus its a write-off at the end of the year anyway, so its prob +ev if it helps me focus more

SB vomit spot WWYD
Muck it...this guy is likely to stack off in other spots too, this one seems a little iffy. But now you know that he will get all in vs a 3bet w a deep stack if he thinks he has the best hand, so wait til you're mink and pick up his whole stack...JJ just seems a little light to win a 200 bb pot imo

For players with wife and kids
I might not have been to clear on my schedule in the OP, so it does prob sound like I don't ever spend time with my family. I am a family man in every sense of the term. I only work 4 days a week, M-W and F. Tuesdays we take the kids to dinner and they are both in gymnastics until they are old enough for organized sports. The weekends are all for family, for instance last saturday we went to the zoo with my sister and nephew and the kids. Every Sunday my entire extended family gets together and eats and hangs out all day. So I am fortunate to have been able to be a part of their young lives ...

For players with wife and kids
If you play full time and have a family at home, how do you guys handle keeping your work time and family time separate. My office is at the house because it is not feesable at this time for me to pay $200-$300 a month for an office outside of the home. My kids are in daycare, so when my session starts @ 1:00, I have the house to myself and I am able to focus on nothing but poker. My wife gets home with the 2 kids (age 4 and 1.5) around 5:00. The kids, in their innocence, just want to be around dad, so they don't understand and get upset when my wife tries to tell them that I'm working and ...

MSMTT $75 40k hand vs thinking reg
Preflop, flop and turn all look pretty standard...I'm don't think i like your line on the river tho. His line up to that point looks like possibly AQ or 88-QQ, 66, or some type of a draw, 98s, 54s, or FD. Thin value bet is fine since he likely doesn't have much and this offers him a chance to bluff raise u. But why stick in another raise on the river'' Seems like you are losing tons of value because I don't see worse hands calling you unless he just loses his mind with AQ, or unless u just have a super strong read on this guy. My take on his hand is that he either missed his FD and reads your ...
