LMFAO - http://fulltiltisrigged.com/
Why stupid' I'm not suggesting the sites are rigged. I'm just saying that if you read forums where we all say, 'Yay. Me big winner!' even when we're not, then the action on the sites looks very different from what we're claiming. That's all.

LMFAO - http://fulltiltisrigged.com/
Weirdly, amid the ranty madness, he makes one valid point: Those of us who are losing players don't like to admit we are, and that we're therefore funding a small minority of skilled winners. So the impression on the forums can indeed belie the reality of the sites.

Geocaching
Almost identical- the firstI ever tried is 150m from my office. (The cache is 'Dreaming Spires'). In the end I asked the guy who set it and once I knew... I'd been almost on top of it, and it was an ammo box for dog's sake. How could I miss it'

Sites with Web Interface/Applet
Apart from Party's 'Instant Play', do any of the other sites have a web-based interface/applet' I'm still getting around the linux issue, and most of the newer clients won't run on WINE.

Re:whitty phrases that open your mind as a poker player
On a podcast someone --maybe Phil Gordon'-- said words to the effect of, "Being a poker pro's not such fun now - a poker pro's job now is to hold on to Phil Ivey's money as long as possible."

Re:Is switch to cash as diff as ppl say?
Now I read my own reasoning again, yes. This is a bit like my recent, 'Should I have folded KK'' post over on HH. Okay, will win millions. Then I can afford to play SnG again.

Is switch to cash as diff as ppl say?
I'm thinking of switching to cash games (well, internet ring games - you know what I mean), but every post I've seen says it's really hard. Is it really' And can I make it easier' Some background: I've had loads of help here with my SnGs. I'm still a weak player, but could just be making a little profit at micro SnGs. Not enough to live on, but enough to know I'm winning The Poker. After years of losing, that matters to me, however slim the profit. Trouble is, for family reasons, I frequently have to just stop a game and leave. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes ...

Poker on Linux
Anyone currently playing major rooms on Linux' At the moment I have a Windows boot available only to play poker. The whole house/business network is otherwise Linux and Unix. The info I've seen online is older now. Do any of you use WINE or a VM, or do any of the major rooms have Linux clients'

Re:Are poker rooms stealing from us?
On Regulation Um... Some of the rooms are in our territorial waters and licensed here in the UK. (Examples - Alderney, Isle of Man). Well, by authorities officially sanctioned in the UK, anyway. I doubt there's a tougher gaming control regime anywhere. For example, a lot of L.V wouldn't be able to operate here. But the OP's point mainly falls down on one thing - there's no evidence. And given the millions of hands in a sample from just a few grinders, statistical evidence of theft would appear barn-door obvious.

Outliers vs constitutionaly bad at poker
I work with learners, and learn for a living. I’ve also been losing. And it’s got me thinking: can someone who’s otherwise intelligent, well-disciplined and a good learner be in some way incapable of playing good poker' Is there a set of traits that some, otherwise capable, people just can’t learn' Or given good instruction and feedback, and a high enough volume with appropriate reflection sessions, should anyone be able to play at an ever-improving level' Well, not ever-improving, but until hitting some notional ‘best normal level’ with only the natural talents breaking through. If there ...

I'm no pro, so I don't need a wage. But I enjoy my poker - I just want it to at least fund itself. So even small profit is okay. (And a world away the pay-to-play I've been doing up to recently!)

Changing Games to DoN - Advice?
Since I started to take my game seriously-ish, I've been playing STTs at micro stakes. I had a great start, and a lesson from Jennifear which helped a lot, then a horrible downswing that wrecked my confidence and ate my BR. It started as within-variance, but I soon knew I was doing something wrong. Long story short - on analysis I was calling too loose and adapting badly to the table. Both fixable. But I was also losing lots of money having to abandon games unexpectedly, something I have to do due to certain family comitments. I'd underestimeted how often it was happening and how ...
