Re:Bodog agrees to making BIG changes!!!
Last year, ownership of the site was transferred (before arguing, read the bodog presser issued on 4/23 of this year). Starting last fall, the site began heading downwards badly. In cash games, they have lost nearly 40% of their player traffic. Checks continue to bounce (assuming you have waited the appropriate 40-60-80 days or whatever). Emails to their "excellent" support team are always and routinely met with outright lies about what they are doing. The software gets worse with every new revision and bugs from years ago remain in the software and believe me it isn't because ...

Re:Question for Bodog players...
This was posted on 2p2 awhile back When the action is on you and there has been no bets and you timeout, your hand should not be folded but instead you should default to a CHECK. A bug still exists when you first sit in a game and have Auto Muck checked and you win a hand, your hand is not instantly mucked. You have to uncheck and recheck the box in order for the behaviour to work correctly When you go all-in and lose, you should not have to sit out a hand. You should be given the opportunity to rebuy or preferably to have it automatically rebuy if you desire. Shortstackers should have to ...

Re:Sowers must have a doppelganger
Letting other people play on accounts in tourneys is OK now'''' What about all of the selling of accounts at final tables' Don't be an enabler for this stuff; surely all of the unethical crap of the last 2 years shows exactly what is wrong with this.

Re:Sowers must have a doppelganger
Hand Histories do not save from Bodog tourneys, but anyone can find the completed tourney and see the entrants. My comment really has nothing to do with Sowers; congrats to him on his WSOP. Its more about Bodog; lately there has been a lot of nonsense at the site and the owners do not seem to care aside from paying occasional lipservice. A good example is multiple accounts; recently a lot of midstakes cash players have opened new accts in spouse/family member names in order to get Rakeback. Bodog says there is no rakeback but google is your friend. Some of these are plainly obv as a player ...

Re(4): Haha busted by Pokerstars for "using" a bot
Bot tech has progressed SO FAR beyond this level. The good news is that you can't just download and go; the level of play there is bad and you will lose. The botters making the real money are doing exactly what you would expect; keeping their programming to themselves. Its not trivial to program a strong winning bot, but do not be mislead in reading; impossible. Bots are also playing at much higher limits than most folks believe; including NL and winning. Good players tend to say things like "Bots can still be beaten" which of course misses the point. Winning bots do not make their profit ...

Re(8): Cheating in Poker
Here ya go I put the whole recipe down for all to see and think about. The truth is this is probably already occurring to some extent; like it or not. Whats needed is more discussion on how to get the rooms to take action. If you take the recipe and make it work, then feel free to send me a bag of Cheetos as thanks.

>> Just because you throw out a bunch of vague terms and make references that don't apply doesn't mean your detractors do not know what they are talking about. Detractors' I'm missing something. You claim abilities and knowledge but are saying what' That using currently available bot software and multiple anonymous entries could not create a simple dumping scheme using a push/fold strategy early on and dumping chips to reach a final table in a major tournament' If you don't think so, please apply that CS degree and let us know where the strategy fails.

Re(7): Cheating in Poker
LOL, yup. I'm actually thinking about putting the whole recipe out there on my blog as a means of stimulating some discussion and maybe getting the sites to take a few more steps to secure the game. The tech I speak of is not hard to acquire and exists today. There are hurdles, but not insurmountable hurdles. Whats worse is I think the current legal landscape has actually made it easier to accomplish. To introduce some irony, one of the core concepts for the coder would be to enable botware to play a style brilliantly laid out in a book called Kill Phil; a book written by Blair Rodman.

>> Botware' Dumping scheme' Beam me up Scotty. If the post doesn't make sense to you, then you are likely in the majority. However, if you are up to speed on the current state of bot development, understand the nature of how stacks funnel towards the final table, understand the meaning of terms like VMWare, anonymous proxy, MAC spoofing, then you understand there is a process which could be set up. Again, if you do not understand the above, you are in the majority and thats a bad thing.

Re(3): Cheating in Poker
If you remember the MIT blackjack teams, I predict sometime in the near future there will be a scandal or at least a revelation involving online tournaments, botware and a sophisticated dumping scheme leading to significant winnings. There is a significant hole in nature of the online game which a small team made up of a network engineer, an average coder, a decent player and $30-50k could almost ensure deep finishes in the Sunday majors. Its almost inconceivable to me that enterprising players at major technical colleges have not yet or are not currently implementing these strategies.

Re(1): The Power of Short Stack - A Sunday Million Story
i sat next to you for most of that time and have two observations. First STOP showing hands. You must have shown the table nearly every shove which wasn't called. This might have been a good strategy if you were planning on doing it with 72, but you were clearly trying to convince the table you had good cards when you shoved. Second, you might want to consider shoving 72 at some point.

Re(2): FYI, a little inside info on PPA activity...
I think I am ready to bail out on the PPA; they are either dysfunctional or illegitimate. Either way, its not good for us. I'll be working up an article for my blog in a couple of days. One note in your post Chris, poker is illegal in many states; both online and live. Some enforce the law though most don't put a lot of energy into it. So, even if there is a carve-out for poker, there is still a state hurdle to get over.

Gank, I think you miss the point a little and I bet its a background thing. BRSavage is in management in real life. I have run a company which generated over 10M in revs in real life. Folks like us tend to be a little more results oriented and perhaps a bit more forward thinking. I am certain there are a ton of players here who run companies which make a lot more. You wrote: "as much money as we pay in rake very month, $20 or $100 is next to nothing," Cool, but that isn't going to legalize poker. Re(2): PPA posts financials for everyone to see...
To be fair, This was the 2005 info and of course in 2005, none of us were up in arms about online gaming legislation. The PPA focus at that point was legalizing live poker throughout the states. Lets wait and see how they did in 2006 with the focus changed and a year under their belt. I'm not willing to bring a hammer down on them yet, but if 06 looks like 05, then obv they should be avoided unless they address the concerns. The real question now is are they going to delay filing until the end of the year again'

Sir, >> but it is very disheartening to receive such accusations of a fraud and scam I am certain it must be, but surely you recognize this is the result of your own organizational communications and alacrity in responding to basic queries' Until the recent change, the PPA website was very basic and non-informative. kksuited >> Maybe there are reasons you don't know about that make it better for the PPA to not disclose certain things.....ever thought of that' No, I truly never thought of that. Nor would I. The last thing an online poker lobby needs is the hint of any shadiness whatsoever. If they are fearful of revealing money sources because those sources are actually illegal overseas gambling operations, then the org is doomed. No matter what occurs here, the process has to be clean and played within the confines of the law. The whole idea is to legitimize the game, not find a way for guys ...

Re(9): Statement from Michael Bolcerek of the PPA
Nobody is crapping on anybody. Legitimate questions have been raised and not answered. All that is being requested is transparency along with proper communications with membership. And going from 120k members to 240k is not going to raise any eyebrows in DC. And foreign money cannot be used in campaign contributions. Money is going to be needed in large amounts and from legitimate US sources. One thing seems clear, the poker magazines seem to be the designated communications arm of the organization, though it is unclear why.

>> they don't need your money. They need numbers. I have to disagree. The numbers growth is inconsequential at this point. Political lobby groups need money and lots of it. Fundraising is and needs to be the sole mission. In that process, they need to clearly and in many ways communicate to the membership and donors what exactly they are doing. The PPA has been dismal at communication and does not now seem to be striving to change that.
