I refuse to believe poker players have ever been worse than they are today. Pre 2006 they were awful. Beyond awful. Here's the best example I can think of to explain. I once finished 2nd in a $10 one table SNG at Party. Why is that so special' Because I passed out in my chair with 6 people still left in it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Has limp calling run amok? There's no doubt limp calling is rampant. At the low stakes I play, also see a lot of what I'd call WTF calls. Guys limp A6 off UTG with a 15-20 BB stack, and then call off all or most of it when somebody shoves. Players that bad are how average/mediocre players like me can have a positive ROI so I encourage that kind of thing. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Satty Strategy? Once you get to teh bubble, identifying who you can shove on and who you can't is critical. Other medium stacks at the table are your best bet usually. These are guys/gals who are probably already in position to win a seat, but not if they do anything crazy. Don't shove light in to shorter stacks, because they may be willing to call a wider range in hopes of getting back in to the game. Every satty I play, pretty low stakes, always has a couple of uber stacks who can't seem to stop playing, whether out of boredom or something else. They are great to have around when you hit a big hand ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

U.S. players not allowed to deposit with Visa or Mastercard anymore??? Wow. Set your politics aside for a moment and go study some recent US history. The UIGEA did NOT have "broad support" on both sides of the aisle. It was a little FU to poker players and sites that was added to a Homeland Security bill at the last minute by Sen. Bill Frist. At the time, no way in hell any pol who cared about his job was going to vote "NO" on that bill. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is this the new thing in the lower stakes? The big variable at the micro donkey levels is that you see a lot of idiots who will limp ATC UTG and then make what I call WTF calls. If your villian is 50/5 you can profitably shove a lot of hands in to him from late position if you're down under 15 BB. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Tips for play with a stack between 15 - 30 bb? This. In certain situations, it's completely appropriate to raise/fold a 30 BB stack. Under almost no circumstances is it a good idea to raise/fold a 15 BB stack. At 15 BB, you're looking for spots to re-steal, as it's an ideal stack size for that. If you're opening, a lot of what I read says you do need to tighten up a little to things you don't mind getting it all in with if you're re-raised. Something like 66+, A10+. Re:1st trip to vegas, 6 days!!!!???? The Flamingo sucks balls. Try MGM or Venetian. Venetian has one of the best nightly tournaments on the Strip. It also, unlike a lot of its competitors, still serves top shelf liquor to patrons in the poker room. That's right, you can sit down at a 1/2 table and fold for two hours and drink all the Macallan single malt scotch (or similar) that you can handle. And 95% of the waitresses are hot. Playboy hot. Do the research though. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:low stakes quality of play in the toilet? is protitable low stakes play dead????? Not the ones I play in. My range is $2 to $11 and I see plays EVERY DAY that make your eyes bleed. Microstakes donkeys will limp hands like A6 off UTG and call off their entire stack to a shove. I'm sitting at an MTT table right now ($2 buyin, 1500 stack to start) and blinds are already at 50/100. There are 4 guys at this table with VPiP numbers > 40. Think about the BS hands you have to be playing to get > 40. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How Do You Play JJ in this spot? JENNIFEAR Can you Help Me? Please/TY You've got the combination of an awkward stack size and a hand that can be tricky to play. JJ has been my kryptonite lately. 3x raise it and call a shove. But there's nothing wrong with shoving it with your stack size. A lot of times thinking players will assume you're doing this with something worse than JJ and call with a hand you have crushed. Don't be results oriented. You got it in the middle as a favorite. That's +EV. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Limit Holdem, paying off Cobra's guide to micro stakes limit HE. 1) You 3 bet the UTG raiser with KK, the donkey on your left flats. 5 players see the flop. Board is A X X. If anyone still in the hand shows any interest, your pocket kings are drawing to two outs. In other words, yes, the donkey flatted the 3 bet with A 7 off. 2) If the loose passive to your right check calls pre, the flop and the turn, and wakes up and bets when the 3rd spade hits on the river, he has a limped in with J4 spades and made his flush like 99% of the time. 3) At least 50% of the time when you have a good hand, top two pair, set, ... Re:playing ace rag..... In a donkament, the following rules generally apply. 1) SB flats your 3x raise (you hold AK). Flop A 8 2 rainbow. If SB check raise/shoves a high percentage of the time it's because, yes, they did call OOP with A 8 off. 2) Donkey in position flats your 3x raise (you hold AK) and then smooth calls bets on the same board as #1 most times means they have A 7 off and you are crushing them. In both cases if you hold KK, QQ etc. you can profitably fold post-flop because they do have the A about 99.9999% of the time. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Flatting with AA Not much you could do here. But flatting is bad. Reason I say there isn't much you could do here is that the donkey who flatted a 3x EP raise with 15 BB holding 55 probably wasn't folding if you re-shipped it pre-flop anyway. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Still ppl with downsyndrome playing poker w00t!!! Ummm. Maybe villain had a note on you that you try to beat up on small stacks with air and figured he was in decent shape against most of the BS hands you'd try this with. Like A 8 off. Oh, and making fun of down syndrome is almost as -EV as sticking in a third of your stack with trash. Posted in: Bad Beats |

Re:Help me fix My Leaks Please First hand raise is WAY too big. You're committing too much of your stack pre-flop. Once that coordinated flop comes with the J on it, you're already behind way too many hands guys will limp with at these levels to shove it. Does it suck out loud that guys are willing to stack off on a J high flop with QJ' Yes. But don't be the guy that makes it work for them. Be the guy with AJ, QQ, KK etc that has him crushed. The second hand belongs here. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Where can you find good 10/20 and 15/ 30 limit games in Vegas? Mirage, Bellagio and Wynn. That's pretty much the list. 4/8 is the biggest LHE going at Venetian every time I've been there lately. Everything else is NL. With the exception of when the BIG GAME is at the V. But I think that's 150/300. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

I miss the old days Does anyone else miss the old days, when folks would limp AA UTG so they could call a small stack shove' Nowadays, at least in the VERY small stakes donkaments that I play in, it's open limping for everyone! And I'm not talking about just early stages either. I'm talking guys (most at 60 VPIP or higher) open limping a 2000 stack from MP with blinds at 200/400. Who the f^ck does that' The last few I've played, after it's apparent that I have a couple of donkeys who plan to limp every other hand I've taken to spite shoving out of my BB with, well, ATC. I usually only ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How do you get over Donks busting you with runner runner??? Get drunk. Kick the dog. Yell horribly awful profanities at the top of your lungs. Graps is right. If guys are getting it in bad, over the course of your career you will come out ahead. It's just math. I sucked out on a guy the other day AQ > AK and he bitched and moaned so much about it in chat I had to reply... "Look, if I had a nickel for every time I've been on your side of that, I wouldn't be playing $4 dollar tournaments." The sites know what they're doing. They have to allow the guy who calls the 3x raise for 25% of his stack in the BB with J4 off to ... Posted in: Bad Beats |
