Mathematical odds OP, I just woke up so my math brain isn't working. LOL@all the posters saying it is pointless. This forum is full of people willing to flip for thousands yet here's someone who wants to make a bet using information to give him an advantage and you all jump on him. Shame on you all! Consolidated Moved from PD Thread I always shove AA/KK in micros early, exactly because of this (everyone puts you on AK or 99). Way more +EV I've found than any other way to play them. I don't think calling is bad at all, but I see your logic entirely. Ask yourself if the odds of you doubling up through normal play are higher than they are by calling and gambling here, if yes, then a fold is justified. Posted in: Bad Beats |

Wondernig thoughts on tip sizing at live 200nl For those (few) advocates of not tipping - if everyone did as you suggested the casinos would need to raise the rake to pay the dealers a fair wage. So go on being a selfish nit yourself, but don't for a moment think you're smart or kind. To answer the OP's question - I concur with most of what has been said here. Tip $1 for pots over $30 (at 1/2) or $50 (at 2/4+). $2-$3 for huge pots. If the tips are NOT pooled then feel free to be more generous with good dealers and less so with bad ones. If you win a jackpot then tip 5% but never over a Benjamin (or two if poker dealers are your charity ... Posted in: Live Poker |

Hiking and backpacking I miss the Whites. I grew up just outside of Concord and get back every year or so. If you're going to the PNW then I definitely recommend the Olympics. There are some really sweet hikes that start in the temperate rainforest and climb up through the clouds to snow-covered ridges (the Cat Walk!). Also, if you've managed Mt. Washington with little trouble then you aren't too far off from tackling Rainier. I swear by my Western Mountaineering bag, Sierra Designs tent, and Dana Designs pack (are they even around anymore though'). Posted in: Off Topic |

You could own one Major sports league record. lol @ any of you trying to prove your point with such a small statistical sample size. How many games does a team win to get through the playoffs in any of the major sports' Not that many. If you tried to use a comparatively small sample size to make a point about poker you'd be rightfully flamed. How many teams have won a championship in each of the major sports in the past 30 years has little to nothing to do with how difficult it is to win the trophy in that sport. RIP Earl Scruggs. Godfather of the banjo Earl Scruggs died today at age 88. I don't know if there are any other banjo pickers here but this is a sad, sad day. I was lucky enough to see him last fall at Hardly Strictly in SF, and even then in his last year he was still king. I dreamed someday of playing with him, alas... Posted in: Off Topic |
