Re:Phil Ivey is at it again
the last couple years ivey supposedly has gotten bored and asked out of his prop bets. of course this year there are more bigger buy in mixed events so im sure its alot easier to be motivated when your only facing 200 players instead of 1500 - 2000 in hold'em events. its pretty easy to no longer be motivated if you get deep a few times in a huge field event and than finished short of the FT.

Re:US Attorney's Office in NY Behind Poker Processor Investigation
please if anything was done it was not done by the new york attorney general (it would have been a federal action - gambling911 corrected their article - which is not necessarily the truth to begin with.) so probably the wrong person to contact as its a federal issue.

Re:US Attorney's Office in NY Behind Poker Processor Investigation
should be noted that this story is not confirmed anywhere and not a 100 percent reliable source. im not saying the story is false. just saying there is some percentage chance this is not the true story. would be nice if someone in the know could confirm or deny this story in some way.

Re:Congrats to big Z (pics obv)
hard to say. i always think of zyndrunas when i hear big z since he has been called that for like 15 years. on the other hand zambrano is more dominating in his sport. but zydrunas is what he is. a big man who shoots well, cant move, but can grab boards and block a few shots cause he is 7'3". id like to see some of his game film when he was younger though because i remember him having a good low post game before all the foot injuries.

Re:Zack greinke
seriously alot of people don't understand baseball is not football or playoff basketball. every pitcher has a bad game or two or three over the course of a season. its a freaking long year. pretty much at some point there is a talk about how much the yankees are struggling and they come back and win the division (except for last year) on the other hand for all the grienke lovers let him put up 3 or 4 before we declare his greatness (see mark prior, dwight gooden, kerry wood, etc etc). i dont deny he has great stuff and great potential but its mainly injuries that bring these pitchers ...

Re:If you were heads up with Ivey for a Bracelet....
hard to say think the offer should be 750 or 1 mil though. thing is poker fame and any flame is pretty fleeting. plus there really is not much sponsorship or fame from winning one 2500 2-7 event. on the other hand most people deep down are pretty competitive. also it violates the WSOP rules. but i don't think its a cut and dry decision for everyone. but the offer really needs to be about 1 mil.

Re:What date did the "Great American Dream" become a nightmare ?
you think pro sports was better before the 1970s (from an economic perspective)'' salaries were artificially held down because there was no free agency. hence, the owners pocketed excessive profits. at least nowadays its probably a break even prospect for the owners (on an operating basis - as the players get such a big percentage of revenue alot of owners struggle to break even.) obviously, this is offset by the prestige of owning the team and the value of the team if they sold it as soared in the past 20 years. so i don't think the owners are hurting but alot of them are in for the fun ...

Re:Worst play you've seen in Vegas, tourney or cash
generally when these dumb plays happens someone tells the fish how bad they played which they should not do. most people just come to play for fun. as soon as everyone learns to play well all yo equity is gonna be gone.

really just get stars to send you a free pizza when you play over 8 hrs and problem solved as missing one hand an hour no big deal. or just get delivery yourself. pretty much have to do the food delivery thing on sundays other than that no synch breaks no problems.

all in results are just one component of poker luck. 754 hands is a small sample size. worry about stuff like this is is generally pointless.

Re:*** Day 3 of the WSOP $40K NLHE Update/Sweat Thread***
say what you will this was a bad bet. no knock on bonomo its just that no one is going to be double average to win this event. 140 to one for the best player should be a stretch (but some live pros are not very good and a few people still have money to play)

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
4x was his standard. and he 4xed alot from the cutoff. you get to + chip EV by assuming a fold either pre or post about 85 to 90 percent of the time which i really don't feel is unrealistic. anything beyond top 5 percent of hands is stuff like 77 AJ and worse

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
i run the numbers in my head all nite and morn with sleepage in between and i think it comes out to a marginally + chip play. but it obviously also increases my chance of busting fourth. obviously if my assumption on his range is wrong it gets worse. the tighter his raising range the worse my play was. i don't think it is a horrible play what hurts it here more is stack sizeage. as his initial bet was very large (which was his standard) which caused my bets to be very large. so overall, whatever. if your at a table with bad players there are probably going to be much better + ev ...

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
there is no difference between shoving A7 pre and stop and going it it is effectively the same thing. i dont know why you cant see that. if he knew i was going to jam any flop than its the same exact thing as jamming pre. obv you can say jamming A7 pre is bad fair enough.

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
understood. but these days a stop and go is the same thing as a preflop shove imo. obviously stop and go can still work on some occasions against bad opponents.

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
i think fold is fine cause he is an opponent where im not going to know where i stand in the hand and i can probably catch him at a later spot. alot of times with a readable opponent flatting and playing the flop seems fine. bah overall though when i run the numbers i dont think my play was horrible cause as long as my assumption on his range is correct he is folding a real big percentage of the time. obviously, i need a bit of work on flop skills and reg tourney skillz.

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
you dont understand. if you have seen any kind of poker you have seen this play. stop and go its pretty standard these days. so say my opponent had AK AQ AJ on this flop i get him to fold where as pre he does not fold. there is really no downside to flatting pre than jamming. its the same thing as going all in pre. with more fold equity in cases where you have marginal hands.

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
we're like 38 bbs deep his 4x is standard which starts the problems. i suppose a small reraise behind and small flop bet would be fairly effective in figuring out where we are in this hand i dont think he would try a bluff after this. obv. i leave myself in 3rd just ahead of the other two stacks this way. i can probably still manage a second or third. obv also this is a better play in a 180 person turbo sit and go where you just need to mass chips as fast as possible.

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
i told you above. i flat called with the intention of shoving any flop. its the same thing as a shove. you probably pick up more fold equity. since im an SNG donk and im gonna end up getting 2 : 1 to call pre im calling pre anyway. running the numbers its probably like neutral chip EV because he's probably folding pre a really high percentage.

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
how would you have played this different' im not comfortable playing flops with the guy cause he is kind of spewy post flop. i.e. i cant bluff him post flop. so meh i dont know. i figure i have a similar range hand as him and can get him to fold. i don't know i could have just let him steal a few cause the shortstacks were going to hand me chips. bah.

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
i pwn pretty hard. but i mostly play 180 man turbos. would have probably won TLB title for week with a win in this. hence everytime i get deep in tourneys now (cause i stopped playing for a long time i revert to turbo SNG play at some point)

Re:Dream Crushed and Shattered at Final Table
its effectively a shove preflop if you know your jamming the flop... so its basically a preflop shove. its a 1400 person tourney so prize jumps are big so the raiser is going to only call when your crushed considering there were two short stacks. obv if you can outplay the guy on the flop might be a spot to play a flop instead.
