0.5/1 PLO 6max gets you about 50 points per table per hour. So, 50 points, 9 tables, 40 hours, 52 weeks = 936,000 points. Then you get bonuses as your VIP status increases... I would think you might reach 3mill this way.

Fergwrx, I know a quite elegant argument you might try on your anti-gambling friends and family. I think Annie Duke or Howard Lederer came up with it, in some article I read ages ago. Poker is a game of skill because you can lose on purpose. In games like roulette, bingo or the lottery this statement does not hold true - hence they require no skill. .mbardsen

Daut was great, clearly a smart guy. It's interesting how Daut was saying how good the online players are, whereas Barry Greenstein is assuming they have little experience. 8ROM, If we assume JJ has a 150% ROI in the sunday majors then for each extra $200-buyin he is actually STEALING $300 from the prize pool. If he has 4-6 accounts in the tournament like he admits to in the 2+2 post, then that's about $1500 stolen from the prize pool! Considering he also does this for bigger tournaments, and over a period of 3 years, the total amount stolen from people following the rules is easily more than $100k, probably closer to a million. If that's not robbery, wtf is' .mbardsen

timeofneed, Your post is one of the dumbest things I have read in a long time. I do not understand how you can object to the idea of banning the cheaters. wtf! Do you honestly think it is correct that cheaters should not be punished for their actions' .mbardsen (oh, and I have been a winning player for ages and still think cheaters should be banned) PS. American cheaters are the only ones dumb enough to get caught ;) The RNG-crack that we have been using here in Scandinavia for a while is only written in Norwegian and Swedish. .mbardsen

Ok, it seems like a few people understood what I was trying to say in the OP. I especially like the reference to the concept of UTILITY. That's exactly what this is about. There are many p5ers, myself included, that have played online poker for a few years now and have made money from playing as a hobby. The initial fun and excitement, however, is starting to disappear. That's why you see more people getting into other games like omaha, razz etc. There was even a limit holdem article on the front page! I see a lot of posts where people say things like "all that matters is that you maximize $/hr" or "the only thing that counts in poker is the $$$" etc. Is it really desirable to have a hobby or job that is based on such statements' .mbardsen
