Sundays WORST BEAT! Are you kidding me? He has queens. I highly doubt he's going to assume that you're 3 betting with specifically only kings or aces. If that's the case, then you're playing too tight anyway. Bad beat yes, but his call is nowhere near as horrible as you're making it out to be. Posted in: Bad Beats |

Re:QQ in big blind I don't blame you for folding at all. Given the action that took place before you, you would expect for someone to have you beat. Just goes to show that you started at a table with a bunch of idiots. You'll certainly get more opportunities to pick up chips from players like these. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

was this a bad call? Realistically, I believed a race was my best case scenario. If I win the hand, I'm somewhere in the top 5 and if I lose, I still have the lead at the table by a slim margin. I am risking a quarter of my stack as well which I don't like. Sadly, my instincts were saying fold, but I made a stubborn call. I guess thinking "play to win" made me want to gamble, but I like to pick better spots to make big chip commitments. I usually feel conflicted about making these decisions. I play sngs a lot more than multis so I'm not as accustomed to playing with deeper stacks. Just so ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

So I'm a terrible player according to this guy This guy has been pretty reckless most of the time. A Couple suckouts got him the stack he has. After the hand, he proceeded to say that I was a terrible player when I asked what his thought process was. I'm working on building up a bankroll...just moved up to the $10s again. So far, I am baffled that the play I'm seeing has been far worse and more reckless than that in the $5 sngs. On the plus side, when I am cashing it has been 1st or 2nd...no 3rds yet. It's no surprise the numbers show he is a losing player. Good to know there's so many like this out there. PokerStars Game ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

Re:SB Pocket Fives Again. You misread this. He has 46 BB. I'd never fold 5s to a min raise with a stack that size. Easy call preflop and you can get away from the hand with a small loss if the flop is not favorable to you. Even with 23 BB, I'm still making that call but that's just me. Re:right call? I like all the insight so far...I think I would have felt conflicted regardless of my decision at the time. I realize that calling was risking a 3rd of my stack to try and get into the money, and there is a chance of one of the blinds waking up with a monster as well. This was certainly not an instacall at the time. I tried to rationalize making this call at the time...perhaps I was wrong. As I'm sure everyone else has, I've been in this scenario ahead and behind. Normally, I prefer to wait for better spots than this as well but I wanted to go for it this time. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

right call? Situations like this are frustrating to me. I don't expect to see someone overbet a hand such as JJ here. Also given that I have a decent chip lead, I know I can lose this hand and still have a slight lead. Nothing I'd seen would indicate this either. I don't see how I can fold this. heh...he thought I was bluffing Sure, I could have played this differently. I could have just raised on the flop and possibly ended the hand there. At the time, I believed he would bet the turn if I called on the flop. When he opened pots, he was c-betting nearly every time. I know this isn't too bad of a beat (I know I'm around a 2 to 1 favorite). After the hand, I said nice play to him (being sarcastic of course) and his response was "thx if you had made a smaller raise i would have folded i thought you were bluffing." Re:a donkey says I played this hand bad. What r your thoughts. A little bit of a large preflop raise...11x' On the flop, you're getting around 2 to 1 to make the call...I don't see that as being too bad...you can afford to be wrong. The other thing is you wouldn't expect him to have a made flush based on an open shove. I hope that "donk" you're referring to wasn't that redneck guy who called your raise with QJ...if so, he has no room to speak on the matter. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

What does he have? Villain has been mostly tight, but overbets preflop when playing hands. This seems to be the common theme (this is my first $5.40 double or nothing). Thought I'd give one a try. Moving along, I'm pretty sure this is the correct move here. Risking half my stack just calling preflop is completely out. Otherwise, I'd be playing for basically my entire stack in the 2nd level. Could be overbetting a higher pair, AK, AQ, maybe 1010 or 99 are my guesses. Re:Is this a bad call? I don't think so. You still have plenty of chips left even if you lose this hand so you can afford to make the call. If you win the hand, you're chip leader with 6 players left and low blinds. Fine as played and also fine if you had decided to lay it down and wait longer. If you're playing to win, you played it right IMO. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Blind Steal Called -- How to Play Flop? agreed...re-raise was too small for him to lay this down preflop. He mentioned the button has been playing fairly tight...plenty of times he could have won the blinds uncontested here. No harm in seeing the flop after a small re-raise which prices him in. Re:Blind Steal Called -- How to Play Flop? check-raise all in on the flop if you intend to go for this draw. As played, you committed about half your stack to the pot with 9 high after the flop. Moving in on the flop at least gives you a slight chance to take the pot down there if he has something such as AK with no hearts, etc. If the turn is a blank, you'd be left with moving in or folding as a choice. With all the money in the pot at that point, can't imagine you'd want to get away from the hand and leave yourself with about 12bbs. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:20 BB with 9's UTG well the advice u have gotten so far is so horrible imo... if you raise fold there that is just AWFUL... honestly I usually just shove preflop!!! but raise folding 99 with less than 20bbs is just terrible! IMO, this is the worst piece of advice you've been given so far. Who in their right mind would open shove 20bbs' That is just terrible. There's no harm in making a standard raise and folding to a re-raise if you choose to do that. You still have enough chips to work with. 17bbs instead of 20 is a small difference and fairly insignificant. If it was 10 or less, shoving sounds more ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How do avoid ReTard DONKS like this???? Standard move ~ I see not problem with this move. Aggression wins ~ Alot of people will go the distance with AK air balls. I'm always trying to make moves to get chips. Sometimes people just give up and get lucky. Standard move' You mean moving in for over 50x the blind is standard' That is laughable at best. Aggression wins' This move was not aggression, it was pure stupidity that paid off. There's no reason to avoid this.
