Re:Spot with KK in Foswoods 2k Lots of terrible posts here. Its a deep live tournament against an old guy, obviously you can go with a read and fold KK. The real problem is that your 4bet size sucks. You're just trying to make sure the other two people fold or makea bad move, why not make it 7k-8k and then make a decision later if you get shoved on. by doing that you both give the guy more rope to hang himself and let yourself get away if your read is that he has AA most of the time. Also, he'll make some terrible calls with hands you have dead if you give him that good of a price and you balance with any later 4 ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:?s about backing Why would your choice of backer mean you can't find mentors/peers to discuss hands with somewhere else' Obviously it helps to have someone with a vested interest in your progression who can actually help with that progression, but is just ridiculous to think of that as a prerequisite. But I agree, your backer needs to understand the variance involved with MTT poker and as long as he does there is no reason you can't be friends with him before, during and after. Re:what's my play? can i set mine bc of multiple players? you're also going to lose some portion of the time you hit your set, probably more than you think playing multiway like this. be a better call with a medium pocket pair. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:WOULD YOU RISK YOUR ENTIRE BANKROLL....... everyone who says call, please go read fortune's formula. I believe it is called the Kelly System which was developed for BJ and is applicable here. You will always go broke playing with your whole bankroll on the table for more than a short time period. Also having herpes is much less of a big deal than losing an entire, significant bankroll Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Icky spot pre-flop early in super tuesday... quick question - if I am a high stakes MTTer and AJK (or someone of his caliber) 4 bet overshoves on my 3 bet during the first half hour, is it correct to only call AA+' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:oh how the game has changed "But I wouldn't call ridic wide, because a common trend I'm seeing is ppl raising huge or shoving big hands like KK/AA. " What level do you have to be on to shove aa/kk on the button with 20+ BBs' I don't see that ever being the optimal way to play aa/kk there. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:weird hand with the dean, don't understand, any thoughts welcome.... Did I miss someone's reply that said it was an obvious EP steal with the bb away and the sb having a 35+BB stack' raise big becasue all he wants to do is steal. I don't think this is really a mistake by Dean, especially when you consider the fact that the 4PM sunday on tilt is semi-runoverable. Then obv he gets priced on by what IMO is a decent raise size given the extra level of what is going on with the missing BB. although i like check calling the flop with the diamond protection. Re:Thoughts on my play and his call..... ^^^This is the real issue here, not his pot odds. while he is signalling he is weak, I don't think he is folding to any shove here and that is probably his intention when raising 4.5x (he is telling the whole table he is going with his hand but doesn't really feel like racing). Why can't OP have QQ+ here' Why is 88+ your shoving range' Seems like 99-jj all make more sense here than 55-77 Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:to any +ev online player Lots of long posts on here so I apologize if I am repeating anything, BUT one thing that I am certain of that the OP is missing is that almost all young, corporate lawyers in Manhattan hate their jobs and are worked as hard as any other group in the world. Obviously a personal decision, but I have a great job in Manhattan (brag'), but if I knew I was a +ev online player and could make 1/10 of what I currently make I would quit my job tomorrow. Instead I have to settle for staking my ridiculously talented +ev friends and live vicariously through them (BRAG). Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Quesition about the $300 75k Guarantee at Borgota First post on here - all the weekly tournaments at Borgata are fairly easy with a good setup for a weekly live event ($10k starting stack and 30 minute levels in this one). I played 2 weeks ago - and there were 451 people (i think a little bigger than usual because of Good Friday holiday). I had all the chips with 11 people to go (a little over 1.5M in my stack out of the 4.5M total) and got robbed when people renegged on our chop agreement and I got screwed out of ~$7k. Other than that it is an awesome tourney and takes probably 11hours. top prize was $38k in the one 2 weeks ago. Don't ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
