Going to Foxwoods from Boston
Driving down to Foxwoods Wednesday morning for the 10AM NLHE tourney, and I have a question about getting there. Is the 95S route best or is it better to take the Pike at that hour' I think 95 is quicker normally, but I'm worried about traffic around Providence at that hour. I also don't want to leave at like 6 and fly down and be there mad early with nothing to do but blow money playing table games. Anyone have any input' thx a lot.

Re(1): Michelle Wie watch continues...
Jealousy. Let me ask anyone here this question - if somehow you became a marketable person in some form, and Pokerstars offered to Freeroll you into all of the Big Events, and not only that, but they paid you for the privelage. Then lets say you busted out of ten straight way before the money. Would you then turn them down for the next Big one' Or the one after that' Heck no, you wouldn't, b/c anyone who plays poker dreams of playing with/against the best and trying to hold their own. Same goes for golfers, women and men. I'm sure she dreamed of playing against Tiger and Lefty and those guys ...

Re(2): POKERSTARS only good for entertainment?
I'm not trying to defend the poster, but I think people are missing the point of the post. I don't think he's saying poker is rigged on certain sites for certain players, I think he's saying, since Pokerstars has so many talented players, why do so many people play there instead of other sites with weaker players where they could make more money (presumably). So, dhubermex, if you can make 24 an hour on Stars, you could presumably make 36 an hour at a site with weaker players. I'm not saying it's possible or agreeing with him, I'm just saying, that's his point, and his question is, if this is ...

Re(4): The $500 Taco Bell Challenge
Dude, if you're such a chick about eating a lot of food and food that's bad for you, why did you agree to do a food challenge' You should've done something you don't mind doing. You're boy chose his own, and he apparently loves shooting hoops, so why are you doing something you hate' I mean, you're belly-aching like a b!tch about calories and stuff, but you accepted the challenge. And stop telling people they are underestimating it - this is not hard for any man who doesn't mind powering down food that is unhealthy.

Re(1): Limit Hold Em Tourney Question
Hey dude, I played in my first limit MTT on Friday at Foxwoods. There were 394 entries or so, and I finished somewhere in the low to mid 40's (bubble as only top 30 were getting paid). Obviously I'm no expert at all, but as someone who was thinking the same thing as you last week, I can tell you my experiences. Also if you search my posts someone gave some good advice to a similar question I asked last week. Basically what I found, though, is to just play your game. First level definitely pay attention to the players at your table. People will say to play Tight Aggro at early levels, but if ...

Re(1): ActionJeff and the rankings method facts......
Why do people care so much about the rankings' It's a joke. This isn't a pro sport. It's dudes playing poker on line. The only thing they should care about is how much money they are winning. No offense meant to the people that run this site, but this is a web site run by a few guys who love poker. It isn't the NCAA top 25 football poll. Nothing is gained by being ranked #1 except more railbirds. I honestly don't get what the fascination with it is. Sure, it's cool that you are #1 on P5's, but no one is saying P5's is the authority on on line player rankings. Anyone can start a site and rank ...

Re(1): Stars Micro Tourneys and Sit&Go's
I play the 3 rebuy and limit myself to a 9 dollar investment. The prize pool is WAY better than any other micro limit MTT out there, and I've had decent success in it. I don't play very regularly but I've played it maybe a dozen times and cash fairly regularly. You can't play the "all in all the time" rebuy strategy a lot of people use, but if you play patiently, you get paid off on your big hands. The one down side is that it's a big tourney so it goes LATE into the night on East Coast time.

Re(1): I'm going to do something stupid.....
Hey, dude, if you work at Putnam in Boston, this is what you should do (it's what I did). Use your lunch hours (if you get them) to go to the two Jewler's buildings on Washinton St in Downtown Xing. There are TONS of stores in both buildings. Go in with an idea of what you want (if you want a round stone, square, oval, whatever), how much you want to spend, what you care about most (size vs quality b/c unless you're a very rich guy, you will have to sacrifice in one of these areas), and then just ask to see what they have in that range. I did a lot of research on line and decided I wanted a ...

WSOP question
Hey, I have a question. Feel free to rip me, if it turns out I'm an idiot. So I was just looking at the WSOP main event payouts, and is it me, or is the percentage payout low for a first' It seems like a huge payday (and it is) b/c it's 12mill, but when you calc the percentage based on what cardplayer has listed as the prize pool, it's only 14.5%. I thought that seemed really low compared to on line payouts, so I just checked the payouts for the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods, and if they get over 1K people in the Main Event, they are going to pay 27% to first. Is there a reason that the WSOP ...

Re(4): Norman Chad's Lederer comment
Now you're talking about risk vs. reward, though. I'd rather have a lot of money at almost no risk as opposed to having a chance at a REAL lot of money at a high risk. Maybe Howard is a practical guy, and sees that he can make GREAT money risk free by doing what he's doing and not risking what he's got in the bank.

Re(2): A strategy post: The standard nasty situation
Tom, shouldn't you be at the FT of the WSOP right now' I hate dismissive posts like this. They aren't helpful. Poker isn't that easy. None of us would be reading this post right now if it was - we'd be at our vacation houses wiping our azzes with hundred dollar bills. I don't mean to be a DB, but there are honest questions out here from people who I guess are inferior players to you, and you can either be helpful, or you can say nothing at all. Your post is not helpful. Not everyone has a ton of friends or other people readily available to discuss poker strategy and hands with, so they come ...

Re(4): A strategy post: The standard nasty situation
Yeah, but what about when you continuation bet the flop, and your opponent raises you, with either a mini raise or three times your bet' He didn't show any strength before the flop, so do you fold, call, or reraise' Folding doesn't lose you much, but there is a very good chance he's stealing, and if you allow your opponent to raise you off your continuation bet every time you're going to be easy pickings (plus it will be easy to spot when you DO have a hand b/c you'll call or reraise there). Calling creates a pretty big pot, and if he's an aggressive player, he's probably going to make a nice ...

Re(2): A strategy post: The standard nasty situation
I stopped reading this site many months ago b/c there was never any good real poker strategy discussion, just a lot of BS. Came back recently to read any updates on how players from here were doing in the WSOP and figured I'd check out some of the boards also. When I saw Bfactor's post I was like, wow, finally, these guys are actually having discussions about stuff that matters, now - about situations that come up all of the time and aren't so cut and dried, and can play very differently depending on what you're opponent does (especially in 6 max tables where you are playing much lower ...

Re(1): Sheets SNG Win Animation -- 37 Hands
I think Sheets's original post was kind of in jest - how to win a sng in 37 hands, check me out I'm sweet. So to those people criticising the choice of SNG, I don't think he intended it to be a training tool. . . with that said, how about a full HH of an MTT win using Mindwise's software'

I have a buddy on Tour, and I asked him if he thought it was ridiculous that she gets to play in these events. He said, "I think it's awesome. She's incredible. She deserves to be out there b/c she has the talent to play out there." People who want her to dominate women's golf first are missing the point. There isn't another woman golfer on the planet who could do what she did Friday at the Sony. She can play with the men. Period. She has the talent to do so. I don't think it should be a big deal for her to play a few events per year. One day, she could be out there competing in all of the ...

Re(1): nananana nananana hey hey hey goodbye,,,,,,,pats
There's no doubt they shot themselves in the foot. Turnovers and penalties killed them. They played sloppy the entire first half. What's funny is they got the FG, then started driving on their next possession and looked like they had the momentum, and were going to open it up and take it to them. Then, came the two fumbles and the bad PI call to give away 10 points to end the half. Then they come out and look dominant in the 3rd quarter, but just can't stop giving the ball away. They had the gameplan to win tonight, but couldn't execute. Just played too sloppy. With all of that said, the ...
