Re(2): last concert you've been to? Last one was The Police at Wrigley Field. This Saturday is Rock the Bells in NYC, then Sunday is Bustle in Your Hedgerow. Next weekend is Lollapalooza, then the following weekend I'll see 311. All in all a bad summer... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(2): I guess Lou Piniella's tirade yesterday worked Actually, it didn't work. They're facing an SP w/ a 5.72 career ERA and 1.74 WHIP. They'll go right back to sucking terribly as soon as they face a real big league pitcher again. I can't believe everyone (myself included) thought this was going to be such a "stacked" lineup when really they only have 3 good hitters.. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(3): To all guys in relationships.... Preston I hope you do the right thing and seek relationship counseling. In the meantime, just try to put things in perspective when you fight w/ your wife or feel like you're less than thrilled to come home. My gf is rad and we really enjoy each others company but every relationship has unpleasant confrontations from time to time. If you can't put things in perspective (why you're together, what it would be like if you weren't together, how you make each other feel when things are good) then it's easy to let things tailspin when tempers flare. GL man... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(3): Question for PrestonLuv and other Righties So your answer is that we shouldn't ever initiate any offensive measure and just continually wait for terrorists to strike' Because that's not exactly what Bill said. Guess he just didn't get around to 'convincing' the Republicans in Congress to do it during his administration' "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998. "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed ... Re(10): Question for PrestonLuv and other Righties I'm a little confused about one point though still. Jeri mentioned how the GW administration was reactive and not proactive on terrorism. I won't possibly refute that, bc I'd lose that argument. But, my question to you guys then is if you think the best policy towards a growing threat throughout the 90's is merely a strong defense' Is your argument that we shouldn't ever go to war or try to bring down evil tyrants who want to kill us all, or is it your argument that we just went about it in the wrong way or at the wrong time' This is something that is not really at all agreed upon among ... Re(8): Question for PrestonLuv and other Righties Underdog, I agree w/ most everything you wrote except the third paragraph. Maybe you and Jeri are right, the GW admin may have largely ignored terrorism prior to 9/11. But, that doesn't change the fact that the threat of terror was growing. There would have been a huge threat in store for the 2000-'04 admin no matter who was in office. That point is clearly shown in that Youtube video that Artie loves to post showing all the Dems from '98 to '01 explaining how grave a situation it was in Iraq for Saddam to be proliferating WMD, etc. Biases aside about any credit given for when attacks ... Re(6): Question for PrestonLuv and other Righties This is a good point made by Shaaarrrp.. Also, I think the 'there hasn't been an attack in the last 6 years' Bush argument is just as weak as the 'Clinton kept us safe' argument. Come on now, talk about bias (both ways). Pretty sure George and William aren't out patrolling the streets themselves but the police, CIA, and other law enforcement agencies are largely responsible for whether these attacks are impeded or not. If you want to make the argument that Billy's policies regarding federal law enforcement were stronger than GW's go ahead and make it, but otherwise, what is the point of ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(8): Sex, What is the big deal? "I really don't care enough/find girls particularly annoying." I don't think you're ever going to have a relationship w/ a member of the opposite sex until you can free yourself of the brainwashing that ALL girls are annoying and not worth the effort and time. Just bc most are annoying and not worth the effort and time doesn't mean every last one of them is. There are a lot of fish in the sea, and you already closed your mind off to the possibility of a female ever being cool. Think about it. GL Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(1): Another record close for the DOW!! Right, EMH is bullshit and you need to look no further than Warren Buffett, Bill Miller, and Peter Lynch to recognize this. This is not to say, though, that it is easy to beat the market and outperform the indexes, bc many money managers do not. But the market sure as shit is not always efficient, as the EMH claims. Re(10): Another record close for the DOW!! Rp, are you aware that the market capitalization of the stocks that make up the Dow Industrial Avg. account for about one quarter of the U.S. market' Sounds like it has some indication to me. Or are you talking about the efficient market hypothesis or what' For someone who is rusty in econ you seem to know a lot about how the Dow doesn't reflect anything that's going on in the economy.
