Re:Vacations in Italy - west coast, advice needed For a resort-type place on the western coast, check out Cinque Terre. It may be a bit farther north from Rome than you're looking for, but it's an awesome spot - five small coastal towns you can hike between on cliffs overlooking the sea. It's pretty close to Florence too to take a side trip, or to stop along the way from Rome. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Seattle, what to do, what to eat? I've lived in Seattle for about 5 months now. Going to Pike Place market is definitely a fun thing to do. They have some good restaurants too besides selling fish and flowers - I think Matt's in the Market is one of the best, but pricier, and Lowell's is pretty decent for cheaper fare. The place that makes its own cheese across the street is cool too. For other restaurants, I'd suggest any of Tom Douglas' restaurants, which are all clustered together downtown and well-known (too lazy to find a link, but just google him). If you want Thai food, walk a couple blocks in any ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Stuff to do in Nashville? Opry Mills really shouldn't be on lists like this... For other things on here, seeing the Opryland Hotel with their Christmas decorations is worth the trip. The Bluebird Cafe is a unique place and definitely worth looking into. The best shows are Fri and Sat nights, and you should try to get tickets beforehand. I spent 10 years at Vanderbilt - nice campus and all, but I don't know if it should be high on your list. The rest of the list is full of things that are nice if that is what you're interested in. Did all of them at some point during my time in Nashville. What kind of ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:FFB- smart, collusion, just busch league, or a combination? Sounds pretty bush to me. On the other hand, I also have Ward and thought about getting Wallace once my claim for Meachem fell through, but check out the weather in Cleveland tonight - below zero windchill with 25-35mph winds and light snow. Maybe you're better off that happened... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Contact Lenses - What Kind and Sleeping in them? I also have what used to be called Focus Night and Day - now they're called Air Optix for some reason. They're quite a bit more expensive than some kinds, but they last for a while. I don't wear them at night all that often (last even longer that way), but when I do, a drop of re-wetting stuff in the morning makes them feel fine. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:HDTV Refresh Rates The 120 Hz refresh rate isn't really 120 Hz - it's still 60 Hz with another interpolated frame inserted between each one to help reduce motion blur. Depending on the brand, it may or may not truly do 5:5 pulldown too versus 2:3 for movies at 24 fps. High end plasmas can do 48 or 72 Hz, but whatever - most of us don't know the difference anyway for 30 vs. 24 fps unless you're told where to look for it in specific places. For watching sports, plasma is still better than 120 Hz LCDs since plasma pixels have a much smaller delay time. Gaming is a tossup between the two, depending ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Help Copying DVD for $5 I don't really care about $5, but you can do this with just 2 programs - DVD Shrink (like in the above post) and DVD Decrypter (free, easy to find download). Set DVD Shrink to make a .iso file and burn with DVD Decrypter, which can actually also rip the files if you ever want to go that way. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Forbes list of the 10 most likely franchises to relocate... The Predators were sold this past offseason. Until a local group came through, it looked like they would be moved to Kansas City. If attendance doesn't improve over the next few years, it's still a real possibility for them to relocate. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:HDTV question I'm guessing you mean . Without a doubt, that's the best place to buy cables. Don't be scared off by the low price - search around A/V forums if you don't believe they're actually just as good as Monster cables. Bluejeans isn't a bad choice either. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Smelling Sushi at Doyles 250k Yeah, it's now the designated starting time, and absolutely no word from DR to the players. A simple email would've been nice, even if it's to say that it's postponed, and further details are coming. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Smelling Sushi at Doyles 250k I'm as pissed off as everyone else here. I'm just saying that I have actually experienced trouble registering for a tournament on DR before. Either way, they should not have postponed it. If your software has a problem, that's your fault, and you should plan your biggest event ever better. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Smelling Sushi at Doyles 250k Counting the rake, they needed just over 1500 people entering to break even. Of the 500 or so people entered, presumably a number of them got in via sattys with overlays like I did (only 2 people entered at 17+1.50 each for a guaranteed seat), so who knows how much they would've lost. I doubt they'll give those of us who can't play next week and satt'ed in a $165 refund - maybe our original sat entry cost. The only thing I'll say in their defense is that I do remember one time trying to register for a tournament about 5 minutes before registration closed, and I had no ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Smelling Sushi at Doyles 250k I was about to post about this too. WTF' I satt'ed into this b/c today was fortunately the only Saturday I could actually play this. If they really moved it back a week w/out sending out an email, that's terrible. They actually sent an email at like 2pm EST (2 hours before it is supposed to start) as a reminder and encouraging people to enter. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Casinos near Nashville Harrah's Metropolis is actually the closest - 2.5 hours up I24 from Nashville, just across the Illinois border. It's not that great a place, though, so I'd say just go to Tunica unless that 1-1.5 hour difference means a lot. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Doyle's Room 250k gurantee.. anyone else get this? I think they just really want people in this tournament. I got in a few weeks ago by playing a $17 1 seat guaranteed satellite against one other guy. Hopefully it turns out to be a good value for me. The field should be quite soft given the average DR player and how much effort they're putting in to get people in it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:booking an international flight One of the trips I just posted about was to Milan. It's pretty cheap to get from London to Milan (flew into Linate airport, which is actually closer than the bigger Malpensa one and has a bus that takes you right to the train station), and then train from Milan to Venice would be like 2.5 hours and fairly cheap too. Not sure about London to Venice airports though. I think at least one of the cheap euro airlines goes to some outlying Venice airport. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:booking an international flight One of the best sites for international tickets is The last two times I've flown to Europe, though, each of the past two summers, I actually booked RT tickets to London (Gatwick), since those fares will almost always be significantly cheaper than places on the main continent, or are at least subject to much better sale fares. I then bought tickets on discount European airlines (easyJet and RyanAir are the main ones, but there are tons of them) from London to where I was headed since those are super cheap. This method saved me like $500 both times, but you have to make sure to leave ... Posted in: Off Topic |

poker rooms in reno I'm headed out to Reno in a couple weeks for a conference, and was curious what people think of the various poker rooms there. I'm staying at the Grand Sierra, and I'm likely to play both limit (from 4/8 to 6/12 probably) and no limit (either 1/2 or 2/5 depending on how the tables look). Seems like not many places spread omaha, but that would be nice too. Any thoughts are appreciated. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:TV question(s) - LCD stuff Since I posted this link before, CPS or Mack warranties are the way to go - here is the link For cables, definitely use . Waaaaay cheaper than a big box store and just as good. They have mounts there too. I haven't bought one of those though, so I can't speak from experience, but they seem to get good reviews. The Samsung LCDs are quite reflective, much more so than other LCDs and even more so than some plasmas, but it just depends on how much light you'll have on it and where it is coming from. If there are lots of windows facing the tv, that's probably going to be a ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:When playing limit hold em...??? Well it depends how good you are... It's not like playing a higher level will ensure that you make a profit. That said, .25/.50 is likely too small to ever beat the rake long term. I used to play 1/2 a lot and made a modest profit from playing alone, but most winnings were from bonuses and such. I've now been able to make more playing 2/4 and 3/6 6 max, but table selection is huge - make sure you have people at the table willing to bet/call with most anything. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
