The perfect player for the Phoenix Suns... Yeah man I miss Kurt Thomas so bad. Such a solid player. Edit: Plus, you have to remember come playoff time the lakers will be pushing out a frontline of Odom, Gasol, and Bynum. My point was that Shaq frees a lot of the defensive burden off Stoudemire and allows him to stay out of foul trouble and subsequently shit on any 4 that tries to guard him. Goodhit- Your points concerning the contract aspect of the Marion/Shaq deal are pretty accurate, but to be anything other than short-sighted in the western conference right now is suicide. Marion had to be moved; the team energy was stagnant, the fans restless, and there were many reports that Marion and Stoudemire had horrible chemistry in the locker room. More to the point, the fact is that the suns would never beat the Spurs or the new gasol-Lakers in a seven game series with the Marion lineup. NBA Mid Season Picks..... With the resurgence of Stoudemire and Barbosa's massive improvement, Phoenix is twice the team they were last year, not to mention they have made huge improvements on the defensive end as well. The Lakers gave it a valiant effort last year but they will go down in 5 no problem this year.The entire western conference playoffs is just a minor formality until the Conference showdown between Mavs and Suns. Edit: Oh and shiphappens...ill bet u any amount up to 2k on the Lakers Suns series if it ever happens and pending this little shoulder thing with Nash is nothing serious. NBA Mid Season Picks..... The Lakers seemingly made huge improvements from last year, but the last 25 games have proved otherwise and they are a sub .500 team on the road. As for your argument on Nash getting tired in the 2nd half of his seasons: check out his playoffs stats from the past 2 years and youll see that your getting fooled like the rest of the league. The past 2 playoffs it has been the disapperance of Marion and other role players and their size that have stopped them, not running out of gas. NBA Mid Season Picks..... Didn't mean to say you were a Lakers fan just a mistake in typing. But I would love to hear your evidence for how the Lakers have an edge against Phoenix. You say hypothetical things like Kobe will step his game up come playoff time(when in actuality in last years series he deferred to the rest of the team almost every game), but the fact is that Phoenix has an edge across the board in this matchup, and have soooo much more firepower than they did in last years series. phoenix suns discussion Theres no doubt if he was playing 35-40 minutes a game somewhere else he would be averaging near 25 a game, but he isnt a point guard and thats what your overlooking here. I know he technically plays backup point guard to nash, but he really doesnt understand how to make his teammates better yet, which Nash is the best at in the NBA. He has a one track mind, but its a really really good one track. Hopefully he can develop point guard mentality to accompany his offensive skills in a few years, but until then you cant even begin to compare his importance to Nash.
