I have held off on posting on this forum, aside from the legislative section. I have put a lot of time researching the UB scandal. I posted a lot on 2+2 about it. Skall, yes he did well on TV. TE thanks for the letter, I have also emailed President Obama and Ms. Kaptur of Ohio, even though Ohio is not much help. I even had time to write a letter and send it snail mail. What does this mean about the Briefing Book, where online poker was the top technological issue' Was that just a farce' In any event, good luck in the fight! I will do anything I can to help.

Donkey, From what I understand the funds frozen, although yours, have been refunded to you poker account, and the sites themselves are eating the loss more the moment, hoping to get this money back through litigation. Soon, your funds on which ever site, can be withdrawn again and cashed. There are other methods in place and the sites are the ones taking the loss for the time being. Be patient and you should be able to get you money in some way soon enough.

Great Podcast TE! Thank you for making it so easy to write letters to Congress and President Obama. It is a shame that those in NY feel the need to seize players money. I have found out how hard it is to get people motivated, close friends even. This gives myself, and the poker community as well I am sure, much admiration for all the hard work you have done to get such a following. The Diggs and twitter alerts are easy and help out alot. Keep fighting the good fight and good luck.

In short, very very short, if The PPA and sites have a court battle vs NY or DOJ, or whomever and A FEW outcomes could arise. From what I understand, the worst case scenario is that the case goes in Favor to the DOJ, thus poker would then be covered under the Wire Act and be deemed illegal. From what I understand this seaizure has nothing to do with UIGEA. However, I am not a legal expert and may be wrong on my analysis. Skallagrim is the man that knows most, he is the lawyer guy. The Engineer is also Informed on this issue. I am not sure what this would mean for legilation like Frank's ...

What are the chances of getting the AGA on our side' Would some more of the B&M Casino's be in favor of online poker, especially during this economic downturn' The initial startup of an online poker room may cost some money, but over time it would cost less than a normal card room. No dealers to pay, no free drinks given away, etc. Off the top of my head I forget which Casino's Harrahs owns. I do not think they own The Wynn, The Venetain, The Bellagio, or Caesars. Do groups like MLB, NBA, and NCAA in hold the same position as the NFL' Do they contribute money to the opposition' Am I wrong to assume that Soccer, and to some extent Tennis, in Europe, actually embrace things like Betfair' It would appear it brings more fans aside from those who play or used to play those sports. The NFL situation seems so hypocritical, even now since they are endorsing lottery tickets. I am also confused about the American Gaming Association, are they neutral in the matter'

Wow, I had no idea that the Wire Act was amended to include interent poker b/c of this, a shame really. As for the UB scandal, an not to get off topic, but the scandal was even going on while UB was a publicly traded company, the cheating started in 2004. I wish it could have been exposed while UB was public, then more could have been done. I am going have to read up on H.R. 4411 as I somehow missed this and just assumed UIGEA was all there was to hurt interent poker. I am also behind on Frank's new bill. Another good reason, aside from Harrah's monetary contributions, would be U.S. regulation once the bill passes. This would mean there is no longer a need for the Kahnawake Gaming Commission or MIT. The regulation and monitoring would actually mean something, and not just a rubber stamp. Also The opportunity for news business in hosting severs and development would bring money and jobs to the U.S. I would also think there would be great Tax benefits.
