Advice...call or fold? someone who knows what theyre doing please help me here
You are right, i meant flop and turn. I was in the process of editing as you posted :). I have fixed it now. His river play is kinda weird but i figure he figured "I have the nuts but the board is scary, he wont call as its SO obvious so I need to do something zany if i want to win a big pot".

Advice...call or fold? someone who knows what theyre doing please help me here
Hand rankings change with only 2 players in, as do the pot odds of calling from the blinds. It is possible he has A-4 and that it is the best hand pre-flop. There are 2 folds to you, so it's you v him heads up, and you can legimately raise with almost anything HU from the small blind. (If I was playing tight I would raise A-x, K-9, 8-9 etc). A-4 has a lot of those raising hands crushed since HU is mostly decided by pairs and kickers, and a '4' also explains his play on the flop and turn. IMO your decision to call or fold comes down to your read of the player. Would he make a ...

Shoul I raise more on the flop? Or am I likely to get the same result?
IMO correct play for cash game. As long as you get someone to put all the money in when you are >50% to win, you made a "correct" play and in this case, you probably did just that. It's more likely his flop bet is to prevent anyone else from drawing to a flush. You might not have made the "best" play but that's a different topic and one that I can't explain :-) However if as you say, you figured him for a flush draw, just call his first bet and fold if more clubs come. I would have re-raised preflop and with his J-J we'd probably be all in and people ...

Was I ahead?
Fold here was acceptable but the turn bet is weak so it's arguable either way to fold or re-raise his a$$. 100 into 550 or so (not counted exactly) is sufficient odds for a draw, and there is a draw on the board. HOWEVER I would have either raised or folded preflop. 6,7 suited can raise in late position if you're feeling loose. if he's seen you do it before and thinks you've flopped the straight with 7-8 or somesuch, he has real problems. In all honesty, I think he has air, or the nuts, and more likely air. If he has an overpair or a 9, he's allowing a straight draw to ...

I think this was a TERRIBLE LAYDOWN by me!!!!!!!!
The fact that you hit a straight on the board doesn't make a difference since you can't know that before. Options are 1) fold - best play IMO 2) flat call and play the flop - not possible as the call is like most of your chips. 3) don't reraise Why' 1) Losman12 could have almost anything, however it might be a legit hand if he is tight. 2) emcert the chip leader didn't raise. He wanted action. (And Joe has just 2 blinds; he's getting desperate). There is a 13K and a 78K stack left vs his 190K and it's 65K to play. The 13K will shove all in with anything decent ...

What to do with AA here? a lot of action
Massive number of limpers. Someone almost certainly has a diamond draw or low straight draw (or even 6, 5 for a made). I would assume I am either drawing dead or it's some kind of flip vs his draw. With 3 guys all in there, none of which are in desperation-shove mode due to the blinds vs their stack size, this is a fold. I noticed clemsonrick flat called like 2000 from his 3500+ stack, that's also kinda suspicious to me. If I was making a move in his positiion I would consider raising all-in to force you to drop it (but it's doubtful I can get 4my2girls to fold and it depends on ...

HA Featured post - Complete HH from 100r win
Log-in to view is contrary to what the internet is about. Is this some scheme to mine email addresses' How much are they paying you to advertise for them' If you want me to discuss it in Pocket Fives, then please post it somewhere where I can view it without having to give details to access a site I simply don't want to give details to access. [edit] OPh I looked. They sell training videos. Typical. :-) No way I'm signing up. I hate "log in to view" for stuff that doesn't need login to protect it from being copied. It's very unfriendly.

Got flamed for this...$25NL
In my opinion: 1) His (the SB) flame was 100% successful in that it made you question your play. Did it put you on tilt' If so, he gets a gold star and +1 to his pyschological weaponry index. 2) When the SB called all in on the turn, he knew his hand was beat. He had K-high with a 20% spade draw (4-1 if you're American and thus not decimalised/metric yet <grin>). So 20% to double up and 80% to go home ... Basically he tried to bluff on the hope that you'd be weak or mis-read his hole cards. [Yea he could river a K or something but he has no guarantee top pair is even good ...

playing 88 in mid position
Everyone limped and you threw away 8-8' At the very least in a loose game like this, limp/call a raiser and see the flop. If you hit, you're going to bust someone. If you don't, you have the option to walk away. What's wrong with 8-8 all in here' If they're all raising like loons, 8-8 is going to be a favourite. Unless I am misunderstanding your description of the game as loose.

Questionalble play on the Turn?
This was the first hand of a low stakes SNG. I'm undecided as to the legitimacy of the play on the turn and was wondering what people thought. A full hand history follows but in summary: UTG has A-A and raises 4x BB. SB calls with 8-7 unsuited. 2 players to the flop, 8-6-6 rainbow. SB bets pot size. UTG calls. Turn comes 2h. SB all in. UTG calls. If anyone has any comments I would be grateful. In the end the river was Qh and UTG won it but I don't see how that's relevant, it's the play on the turn that interests me. Thanks all, (full history begins) Table #9201796 - STT ...

anyone actually like AK?
There is no fool-proof method. If someone says there is then either a) they broke the game, or b) they don't understand it, or c) they are trying to convince you to buy something. The best you can really hope for is a consistent profit, over the long term, and there is no magic formula for that. If there was, everyone would be doing it, and no-one would make any money as they would all be equal. For beginners with A-K i would recommend: 1) Your objective is to make the right call/fold for the odds and the player and NOT to fluke out and win loads of cash. 2) Remember A-K loses to any ...

Hand Advice: 7-8 on 8-8-2-4-5 ... all in with trip 8s, lose to A-3
Hello. I'm new on here. I was wondering if anyone could advise me if I played this hand correctly' In summary: 7-8 with 8-8-2-4-5 ... all in with trip 8s, lose to A-3. The full history as follows: SNG event, blinds are 10/20. It's early so no reads on players yet. All stacks are 1400+. I have 7-8 and limp. Flop is 8-8-2 rainbow, 4 player, pot 80. Normally I check to slow play or bet pot-size to take the flop here. This time I make a probe bet of 20 to mix things up a bit and add some value. 1 Guy drops. Turn is 4. River is 5. Pot is 140. I make a pot-sized bet (140 + 140 ...
