Winning in SNG Tournaments and Losing in Cash Games Story of my life, I play SNGs for the money and cash for fun. They just aren't the same. Different strategies. If you've ever watched any videos from Sheets, he basically says SNGs aren't really even poker or something to that effect. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

A must read!!! DOJ suggests that unlike sports betting, poker is not a game of skill The DOJ does not make the laws, they enforce them. That is their only job. This has absolutely zero impact on the future of Poker in the US. This news is of very little consequence and really not worthy of even a headline. Posted in: Poker Community |

Best casino in Minnesota? Best Casino in Atlantic City? Canterbury is your best choice for poker, always a ton of tables up and running. Running Aces is #2 and really that is it unless you hit up the Diamond Jo's on the Iowa border or Turtle Lake in Wisconsin. Advantage of those two is they offer no limit. Posted in: Live Poker |

poker in Minnesota What is no so great and you fail to mention is the ridiculous rake on these things. $200 buyin, $30 "entry fee". Sure you can rebuy if you like, that's another $10 fee. I actually don't mind the $2-$60 spread games and if you play at Running Aces you get paid $5 an hour in comps/cash/whatever. I have no idea why we can't play NL, but MN is full of idiot legislators who love their outdated laws and any sort of change takes years and years of lobbying and this is so low on the radar I doubt it'll ever change in my lifetime. Govt Shutdown in MN will result in closure of cardrooms. Losing those two really sucks. There's also treasure Island which is okay, but not great. Or like northkato said, Diamond Joe's or Turtle Lake in Wisconsin. TI is tiny, 10 tables, but they'll probably be packing them in now. Posted in: Live Poker |

Pros and Cons of the remaining U.S. Sites Well I'm going to disagree. I'd like to think if they had a case against the other sites they'd have gone after them all at once. But they only went after the big 3. This isn't something the DOJ threw together over the weekend, it's probably taken a few good years to compile everything and get their ducks in a row. If they had something against other sites, they'd likely have shut them down too. Posted in: Poker Sites |

how do u play 1010 That early on I'm not probably not reraising here with tens (unless I have a read on the guy), QQ+, AQs+, yes. And I'm not 4x 3betting either with anything. I don't think the extra bet is getting you a fold, and what do you do if you get 4bet from someone else' Seems a little early to get that many chips in PF with Tens. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

SNG Study Methods I'm biased towarded 9man STT's (but prefer 6man MTTs and cash). For STT's, I agree with PhatStak as the extra 3 people really don't matter, especially at the lower limits because it's rather easy to get down to 6 people, sometimes rather quick. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

SNG Study Methods SNG Wiz is your best friend. Focus on mastering ICM and bubble play. Watch videos from Phil Shaw and read his books as well as anything by Collin Moshman. I'd say those two are the SNG masters. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Should the 17 year old who came 6th in sundays 5milly special keep the money? Someone should've just done a poll, should he get the money or not and this whole thread of uselessness could have been avoided. Posted in: Poker Community |

Should the 17 year old who came 6th in sundays 5milly special keep the money? This is the same guy who tried to hold out for an extra 150K when they were talking chop. If you are underage and you FT this thing, why the hell draw any sort of attention to yourself. I'm sitting down with pops and getting our stories straight not mouthing off in forums or twitter or whatever the fuck this dumbass did. And no he shouldn't get the cash, I don't care either way, it's not hating. Fact is he shouldn't have been allowed to play and put himself in that situation. Sorry tough shit pal. How bad do you run? It's unavoidable. There are also times where I run lightning hot and feel unstoppable, hitting sets, winning races, catching open enders. Then the opposite happens and you feel like you'll never win again and you see unbelievable suckouts. I still get pissed but I'm learning to deal with it and the more I play the less it effects me. We seem to forget the good times and only dwell on the bad stuff. Human nature I suppose. If you are cashing out, you're obviously winning in the long run. It's a marathon, not a sprint, enjoy the good runs and try your best to deal with the bad ones. Good luck! Posted in: Bad Beats |

.01 - .02 NLHE 9max grinding... question If you can afford it, I'd at least start at 2/5. 1/2 is just a disaster, raises, anything get zero respect b/c the stakes are so low. Can be good or bad I guess. But you'll see people calling all the way to the river with 2nd/3rd pair, gutters, etc. Not that this doesn't happen at other stakes, but here it's a common occurance. That's a huge time investment you are making to grind out a few bucks. But everyone has to start somewhere and if you feel like the time commitment is worth it, then go for it, but I'd move up ASAP. hsp season 7 (spoiler alert) Norm is so wrong, it feels like he's reading a script whereas Gabe sounded like he was coming up with it on the fly. Didn't Selbst play that hand horribad' I get she has a big overpair, but I don't see the amateur playing a (big) draw or just top pair that way (quickly raising ahead of Antonio). Screams set to me. Seems like she could get away from that. I don't care for her cockiness anyways, so I enjoyed seeing her get stacked too. Also, creator of Silly Bands' Really' Where do they find these people. An Airstream and a Dream! Making a living at live $1/$2? I say fuck yeah, do it. It's an experience, do it now before you settle down. If you go busto, so what. Go home. I didn't do quite the same thing, but a few years ago I worked out of my house, set my own hours, usually at night so my days were free. I spent many of those days at the casino about 30 minutes from home. Grinded limit of all things (no no-limit in MN). Built my roll, was playing 8-16 mostly. Hit BBJP for 60ishK. Moved up to 15-30 and 2-20 spread. Hit low end of BBJP for 15ishK later on that year. Also had a few table shares for maybe a few K total. Now I can't stand limit or ... Posted in: Live Poker |

Need help with three 180man hands. 1. Easy fold me thinks 2. Call, you're short enough as is. 3. He has 17K at 1k/2k and min raises from UTG. I've seen things similar to this so much, I automatically smell a rat. I can get away from TT here, I can't really think of any other two cards someone with that stack would play it the same way, even in these bizarre shovefests. He's prolly shoving AJs+, 88+ to KK. Just my thoughts. Sucks, been in these same situations and those 2/180's are all over the board. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
