Need help and adivce on how to approach a particular tourney My boss invites me tourney in his area, which im having a hard time going deep in. I consider myself a failry decent tourney player, but this structure is really getting the best of me. 7500 in chips blinds start at 100/200 next level 200/400 within 30 mins. it just seems to me there is little to no room for error and if you dont improve early your making decisions for all your chips at a very early stage of the tournament. What do you guys think about this tourney' Any advice on how to address this tournament' Any advice would be appreciated. Mr_BB Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(6): Are Showboat and Taj Mahal right next to each other? The showboat is directly connected to the Taj, like attached to it. Tropicana is on the absolute opposite end of the boardwalk. Im thinking a good mile away. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Scouting Reports for Sit and Go Players? I play the 33's and 55's on stars regularly and can attest to the game being soft. I enjoy regular success at this level and won't be jumping up until the bankroll is ready to accommodate higher stakes. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

MTT cash percentage..... 15% seem decent' I can only imagine its more attibutable to how deep you go in tournies rather than the amount of times you actually get any type of return. Just wondering how that stacks up. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Pop or not to Pop, that is the question Well for what its worth, I had that same rationale as you and I wound u folding, wound up final tabling, but wrapped it up in 8th. I look back at that point as potentially a turning point, considering the fact that about 15 mins I realized he was opening up for 3-4 bb raises at least 2x per orbit. That being said, regardless of the future info, with that information I had at the time - calling may have been a better option and playing the situations post flop. Gotta consider this a bit more the next time this situation arises. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Pop or not to Pop, that is the question ITM final 15 in a $22 180 man on stars, big chip leader (im new to the table without much information on him yet), blinds at 300/600 comes out for a 2400 chip raise. I am on the button with about 22k in chips with a/q os. Do I pop him' If so what to pop....I cant justify flat calling 10% of my chips here with a/q, so it was either go for the gusto or let him walk with it. Maybe my rationale is wrong, but hey thats what I am here for, to gain insight on what the best move in this spot. Any advice would be appreciated. Mr_BB Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): How to handle the dreaded A on the flop with a mid to high pocket pair? Cool, thanks Lenny, I have made it a personal goal for myself to try to improve on the areas of my game I feel are most problematic. And for the most part this community has provided some great feedback (the occassional douche is expected of course). Hopefully I can use all this great input to do some good and advance my game. Thanks again, Mr_BB Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): How to handle the dreaded A on the flop with a mid to high pocket pair? Hey shane, feel free to jump off a bridge....life is too long to deal with those kind of issues. As for the pocket 7's with the AA8 board, I personally feel its a much bigger difference with that board texture than a single A. It is reasonable to think that didnt hit him, and can still be reasonably aggressive playing that board. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): What percentage of AP and UB players..... Well for the most part it would be safe to say that the bulk of the site's money is generated on the lower end of the stakes. And typically only degenerates (myself proudly included) actually takes the time to explore forums to discuss content. So I am thinking it would be safe to say there would be marginal impact initially unless something really hit the headlines and went public. The question would be at what point is AP/UB going to forced to go public in order to save its dwindlings interests in the poker community (if ever). Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): How to handle the dreaded A on the flop with a mid to high pocket pair? Some really great insight so far, I really appreciate taking the time to shed light on this obviously tricky subject. In thinking more about it, I really have to start trusting in my read on the opponent and the situation more than fearing a particular card has me beat. Easier said than done, as I am prone to having the most ridiculous shit beat me sometimes. But I guess if I don't I will always be held to a player beating me rather than the hand itself. Re(6): How to handle the dreaded A on the flop with a mid to high pocket pair Thanks for the update. Now, the question is doesnt that lower bet attract looser calls' I undersand the saving of chips but in those situations dont u have the potential to attract more callers and lose more chips in that instance' Just a thought. Re(4): How to handle the dreaded A on the flop with a mid to high pocket pair 4x bb not standard' Care to elaborate a bit buddy' Please enlighten me as to your standard raises. Maybe I am just playing this wrong and would benefit by understanding how a different raise may assist in thinning out the potential risk. Or were just chiming in without much substance behind it.
