Is this how Phil Ivey won at the UK casino - hope not!
Saw this today also. Think they key points though are- 1) Lady friend is banned from other casinos, and money withheld Stateside for similar. 2) They asked for the cards to be dealt 180 degrees 'superstition'. 3) Phil asked for the shoe to be held. If all three are legit claims then it does look super suspect. Also would a casino in operation for over 180 years create a fuss over losing 7m to such a high profile figure if it didn't think there was something underhand or could prove something underhand occurred' Surely if everything was above board they'd take it on the nose and make sure ...

aggression and control
[/B] Not necessarily, all the SN, SNE's or even gold & platinum tell you is player X is putting in X amount of volume. This could be from a mixture of avenues cash, SNG's, hyper-satties etc so you shouldn't automatically assume you're up against a super-competent MTT player. Check out the names regged in the tournies you play (if you play regularly you'll soon start spotting regs) and names of the guys/gals always on the leaderboards on sites like this. But make your own mind up about how players you meet regulary play/react to/in different situations and make a little note of anything out of ...

The guys playing 3502 dollar hyper turbo's non stop, are they mad?
Yes swings would be brutal playing large volumes of these, I've played a few up to maybe $700 buy-in trying to get into larger MTT's and they def appeal to the degen in me but I dont think I could play them full-time I'd got nuts QQ+ regularly destroyed by 73s and the like. Best of luck to him tho.

Jorg has been doing it for at least the last couple of years iirc, he's perma-regged for all the 181 and above hyper-turbo sats especially around SCOOP, WCOOP etc

Did not realize there were so many metalheads on P5's. 80's and early 90's were by far the best years no matter what genre you were into, crazy how time flies.

:-) wish I paid attention to math back in the day in school no one mentioned it would be handy for poker. What I was trying to get at is there are surely times when the same hand has different equity based on the total contribution to the pot, likelihood of improving, number of players in, further streets etc much in the way pot odds are controlled to force mistakes. I was trying to explain that this could be one of those times and that unless you have a solid read or history on villian that says he's making this 3-bet here with the nutted end of the range then its a mistake on his part by ...

Yes I lost 2k and had 31570 (on the forum late so missed it out from earlier total). What I'm trying to say is the action already made hero's raise, villians re-raise is all dead money if you fold you are left with the 13785 stack move on next hand. If villian 3-bets all in you are now calling 13785 effective to win the 33570 leaving you with the 41% equity needed. As played if you 4-bet shove over his 4800 3-bet, you lose the 2800 to match the 3-bet as this is essentially dead money and your effective carry over is 10985 to win a pot of 33570 leaving you with 32% equity needed. This is ...

This is what I was asking, because of the dynamic that he re-raised to 4800 and the money in the middle is dead. If you then re-shove you are effectively dropping the equity needed to be profitable to 32% if he calls your shove. As you've mentioned we wont assign a % to him folding we'll assume he never folds. Now if hes calling with anything other than JJ-AA you've forced a mistake (JJ vs AKs has 54% equity). So as played it would be more profitable to re-shove there than it would be to have called a shove had he shoved instead of 3-bet to 4800. 32% would be the equity needed for a 4-bet ...

Aah, so it would be 4000+13785 = 17785 13785/13785+17785 13785/31570=.43 (43%) I got you. But with the dynamic of the villian re-raising to 4800, you shoving over the top has effectively dropped the equity needed by 11% as the money in the middle is dead already' Or dont you factor that in because the calling is now in the villians hands'

I got to the math like this and said at top this is assuming hero shoves over the rr and villian calls- Blinds + antes 2000, heros raise 2000 (hero left 13785) villians raise 4800 (2800) (hero left with 10985 after matching the 2800) 2000 2000 4800 2800 10985 (villians contribution to heros effective stack) =22585+10985(heros effective stack) = 33570 total pot, 10985/33570 = 32% is heros contribution to total pot. I believe that is the correct way to work out the equity needed.

I'll have a crack at the math on this as if shoved and villian calls (open to critisism) so after matching his bet your effective stack for him to call is 10985 10985/10985+22585 = 10985/33570= .32 (32%) So your JJ needs to have better than 32% equity against his percieved range. Against AKo+, AKs+, JJ+ you have 36.7% equity. Against AQo+, AQs+, TT+ you have 47% equity. Agreed its not a jumping for joy situation as flops love A's against smaller stacks, but I see so many players at the lower levels on Stars with no respect for 2-2.5 x raises from early position that unless you know this ...

is my math correct on this call?
Yes I shoulda maybe added a couple of 89s type hands esp as its cash. But def agree fold, dont see you being in front of much even some high-card bluffs leave you needing to hit a card.

is my math correct on this call?
Math is there I believe Shaktar, top calculation is the percentage of the pot hero has put in, all money already in the pot is dead and villian has him covered so the effective call is 2811 into a pot of 6211 when dividing for total percentage you add the amount you're calling first then use that total to divide the call amount.

is my math correct on this call?
So pot is 1700 on the flop and everyone checks a wet board, no flush or straight completes on the turn you bet 1/2 pot and villian jams. What reads do you have on him' reads does he have on you (would he stone cold bluff/believe his overs are good thinking you just bet the turn cos you picked up a FD). Only made hand that slow plays the flop is a set and that could still back fire, dont think an overpair would. So if hes decided to jam a nut heart draw you've lost the 9h as an out, or if he too picked up a better club FD than you you're now drawing to 8 outs. 2811 to win 2811+2811+3400= ...
