Re:Blind vs Blind | Interesting hand/situation question!!??!
Definately makes sense...but this was not a 90 man sng. I failed to clairfy. This was a 6 handed guarentee MTT on ftp.

Blind vs Blind | Interesting hand/situation question!!??!
Ok, here's the senario. Blind vs blind in a 6 handed guarentee MTT on ftp. Late in a MTT blinds are 2000 and 1000. With antes the pot is 4500. Everyone folds to the small blind (Villian) who has 25k in chips and shoves all in. You, the big blind with 17k in chips are holding K6o. Read on the Villian. The villian has been very active shoving all in after losing an all in. The last two rotations from the button villian has been caught with j9o and q5o. Given villians range do you call or fold and why'

Re:Common 6 max sit n go spot - thinking beyond ICM ??
I think what was said was more important than who said it. That being said, didn't mean to tag the wrong person and I agree with you on the above point. Ultimately, I think the numbers game is fine. I think it has its place. But poker, to me, isn't about math. Maybe I'm just not that smart. To me it's about situations and just "feeling" it. In live situations, it's all about the people. Someone once told me that "As soon as you understand that poker is about everything but the cards, you'll be on your way to being a great player." To the OP...go ...

Re:Common 6 max sit n go spot - thinking beyond ICM ??
This is a really good question and a situation I find myself in regularly. It seems 3 handed the ace rag is almost always getting called by a dominated hand. Or maybe it just seems that way. For me, I adjusted and have no problem folding the Ace rag assuming the situation is as you describe it. I'd prefer to go in as even or even ahead in chips to the heads up but not cashing is way worse. If I know the short stack is weak I may even try a 2.5 times raise with the ace rag. I know that they are likely gonna fold unless they have something and/or the big stack is shoving with any two ...

Re:Playing against a Flush Draw
Early in an sng, if your opponent is on draw, this is a good thing. He'll only get there about 1 in 3 times so bet your hand. I usually just pot bet to the river, if he catches I prepare to check fold. If I know he'll call an all in on the turn on his draw..well..I'm all in! Later in the sng, depending on where I am in the sng, I may go all in on the turn just to take the pot down. It would depend on my stack, how many players left etc. but it ultimately depends on how valuable the current pot is to my stack. If taking the pot now is more valuable to me than risking him catching, ...

Re:my ability
I agree with the 100 to 1000 challenge. It's a good challenge for yourself and will teach you the discipline necessary to succeed. If you play at FTP hit the 6man turbo sngs. If you have 100 I'd grind to 120+ in the $2. You'll then have 20 buyins for the $6 and grind that to 240. This should take less than a week. Keep climbing....$11, $22, etc. I like to have 20 buyins for any sng level. Some will say more which never hurts but if you are a winning player, 20 is plenty. Stay disciplined and move down levels if you hit a bad patch. What I do to reward myself during the process, ...

Re:going pro
I would still keep firing off the resumes but don't let them tell you, you can't do it. If you're a winning player, with an even temperment, you can grind $2k up into a nice bankroll in no time. IMO BR management is overrated. Play hard, take shots and follow your dreams bro.

Re:THIS A BAD SHOVE?
I think this is an easy shove with his short stack...an ace and first in vig. Your shove is fine too in this spot. There's really no calling here as you're pretty short too. His range is so wide here, I think it's fine.

Re:Good laydown on River?
Because you didn't bet the turn when you hit your ace you really have to fold because you have no idea were you are in the hand. Unless you just enjoy making crying calls on the river. In the future, even if you choose not to C-Bet...PLEASE bet the turn when the ace hits.

Re:$24k guarantee - QQ on wet board
This is a good point too. I've done it both ways with both good and bad results. Not having any read on the villian is the key here to me. If I'm almost certain I'm ahead, the shove is the right call but if it's a coin flip, I'd like to get more info.

I agree...and folding on the flop is not an option. I just may choose to see the turn and proceed from there instead of insta-shoving.

Re:$24k guarantee - QQ on wet board
There's no way to know if you're beat without more information and there's no reason to put half your stack in this pot to get that info. Like I said, shoving isn't horrible here but the only hands that are calling you are beating you with the exception of 99, TT and JJ unless you're dealing with some real idiots. If I have position on you and I'm reraising you preflop on this board...you're crushed...guarenteed. You may end up folding the best hand "sometimes" but that's poker and the power of position. Either way it's just an alternate ...

Re:$24k guarantee - QQ on wet board
With the deep stacks, I don't believe it's necessary to go broke here. I'm not saying that shoving here is not a reasonable option but you're not only hoping your queens will hold, you are praying that you're even ahead. It's possible he's put you on overcards, it's possible he has something draw heavy. But it's also highly possible that he has top two pair or has a set in this spot and is looking to protect it in case you have a draw heavy hand or he knows you have a big pair and is itching to stack you. I can easily see myself calling 8s7s with position ...
