It's kicking off in Europe at the moment. I'm proud to say that the UK finally has a leader that is willing to stand up to the EU and not blindly give up more and more of our ability to govern ourselves.... However look at the reaction:- My favourite being - German Christian Democrat MEP Elmar Brok, foreign policy spokesman for the centre-right in the European parliament, echoed his sentiment: "If you're not ready to abide by the rules, you'd do better to keep your mouth shut." hmm a German talking like that, when did I last hear that' oh yeah about 65 years ago!

Solaris / For those that liked Stalker you should love this film by Tarkovskiy. If you've seen the Soderbergh version dont let that put you off, just make sure you've got 3 hours to spare! Elephant / Part of Gus Van Sant's 'Death' triology. Controversial when released for being based around the Columbine High School Massacre but was rightly lauded by critics. judgement at Nuremberg / Another long one at over 3 hours but it didn't drag or even seem that long when I watched it. Def not Indie but I suspect it's one that a lot of OT hasn't seen despite it being in the IMDB top 250. It asks ...

My god Mirror Mirror looked fucking AAAAAAAAAWFUL, julia roberts overacting made me cringe. The Raven looks good - love me some John Cussack John Carter - meh American Reunion - Is Tara Reid going to get her wonky tits out' catch 44 - already out on torrent sites contraband - looks promising but could also be awful. Love Giavanni Ribissi such a good actor.

ugh, how did I forget this. Also, anything else by Shane Meadows - This Is England, 24/7, Somers Town esp. Yeah I know but I think the thread has kinda turned into great unknown/non mainstream films What can I say, I'm a sucka for horror. If you watch 1 film on the horror list then make it 'The house of The Devil'. I'll post some more later if I get a chance.

Four Lions / The funniest film I've seen in the last 2 years. Der Untergan aka Downfall / If you've only ever seen part of Bruno Ganz as Hitler on the funny youtube vids then you are missing one of the best overall acting performances of the 00s Eastern Promises / Cronenberg comes to London and gives us a glimpse of life in the Russian Mafia. Mortensen is outstanding in the lead role. See this if you liked 'A History of violence' Cache aka Hidden / The first of three Michael Haneke films. Human Traffic / If you've ever taken drugs or gone to clubs then this film is a must watch. Dunno how it will translate to you Americans but this is a genuine classic with an amazing soundtrack (DONT GET THE 'REMIXED' version!) In Bruges / Colin Farrell in the lead but this is by far his best performance with pitch perfect supporting performances from Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Fiennes and everyones favourite Game of Thrones dwarf Peter Dinklage. Dark comedy with a heart, the screen play was nom'd for the best original screenplay Oscar in 2009 but was robbed IMO with the inferior Milk winning ...

Here's some off the top of my head Horror:- The House of the Devil / (2009 movie made to look and feel like an early 80s horror, really creeped me out and Im a huge horror fan so dont get creeped out easily) Bad Taste and Brain Dead / / Peter Jacksons first 2 films...admittedly dated now but at the time contained what were stunning practical effects which were done on a shoestring budget Inside aka A l'iinterieur / Part of the late 00s French gorefest horror movement, has one of the most shocking endings (although way OTT) endings to a film that ive ever seen. That film is a head fuck...but a very good one. You've got to stick through the first 10-15 minutes but then it gets going. Some of the attempts online to explain it are hilarious as its so damn complicated.
