It is used to imply that one is too emotional to make a rational/logical decision. Obviously it ignores the fact that an intellectual identification with ones thoughts, emotions, and circumstance is necessary for such a decision to be made.

Definitely disagree that people are born evil, but if u do something bad enough I don't think rehabilitation is the goal anymore. The goal is to be removed from society. That doesn't apply to most criminals and doesn't mean we have to treat people like they are subhuman

I've been discussing solutions on these boards for years. If you don't know what my positions are you haven't been paying attention. I agree that empathy in and of itself does nothing. A lack of empathy, however, is pathologic and makes any further discussion useless. Based on your recent posts, I am definitely holier than thou (despite being generally pretty unholy/worthless in general), and definitely have disdain for the way you think.

Reform isn't about prison lectures, "scared-straight" tactics, finding jesus, and telling people what they should be doing or how someone else got straight. Its about education, removing stigmas, opportunities for good-paying jobs, and a stable/supportive environment once they get out. Its about changing the social conditions that contributed to their incarceration in the first place.

ya, every once in a while I hit the jackpot and get a full tank without pulling the trigger 100 times. I try moving it all around, but that rarely works. pumping slower works about 1/4 of the time, so I'm guessing there is like turbulent flow or something that blocks the sensor. never bothered me enough to google it, so acp taught me something new today.

I've wondered this for years. somehow my car fucks up the sensor, and it will randomly stop likes its full after like half a gallon when I'm actually on empty, then I just have to keep pressing it over and over. It looks to others like I'm OCD as a motherfucker and trying to hit exactly 1.00, and then I miss it repeatedly until I put like 50.00 in my car. people just fucking stare at me when I fill up. I probably know less about cars than anyone besides sweeetness.

plz do. for LS: I mostly read nonfiction - Anything by Jared Diamond, anything by Paul Farmer (or Mountains beyond Mountains about him), The One-Dimensional man, and The New Jim Crow are all things that come to mind quickly. I would recommend checking out for people that read a lot. Good way to find books you might be interested in.
