there is a difference between drinking wine every night, and drinking all day every day. if you don't wake up with shakes in the morning and start drinking asap, you aren't gonna die from withdrawals. drinking every night = abuse. drinking all day every day and getting the shakes when you don't = dependence.

So do I. I am terrified at the acceptance of everything told to them that I see from a lot of my fellow medical students (and doctors for that matter). however, I will take what is in the latest journals over anything else. I think you are mixing up a couple ideas here. Evidence-based medicine = a good thing. there are fairly good systems of meta-analysis to validate data and whatnot. this makes it much easier to accept the science of what you read. accepting the dogma of the profession is quite different, and this seems to be where your (and my) criticisms are properly place. ...

**NBA Playoffs Conference semifinals**
I would seriously be terrified at having to play against Ron Artest. There were at least 5 different plays in the first half where an OKC player could have been injured as a result of Artest being straight up violent in the middle of the play. Like its cool to go hard and foul people hard and shit, but he is pretty much just violent, flinging arms and elbows harder than he should in traffic and fouling people after the whistle, etc.

I don't know that I agree with this. Humans have a way of thinking the way things are is the way the can/should/would be under different circumstances. A system that begins with absolutely equal freedom for all is much less likely to end up in the island of private property and distrust of fellow humans that 4000 years of politicoeconomic oppression has worked to create. AS I mentioned earlier, I think our conception of private property and privacy in general would be vastly different, and the conditions would allow human's fundamental social and empathic nature to develop a society that ...
