100re 6max hand.
bet small, call shove. expect aa decent amt, but also stupid hands turned into bluffs... since u decided to 4 bet pre, and relatively ginned the flop you probably should go broke. idk player as well as others, but most solid/nit/tourney regs never really flat 4bets with these stack sizes, his range might be almost all AA/KK like pokerjamers suggested so then i could see a check fold

Poker and College.
if you're an econ major (i am also at nyu), its just a bunch of big lectures and standardized homeworks. then you'll have the answers and questions when you study, so you can just learn them both. i had a VERY good friend who paid for lecture notes/hw and just studied for tests a couple weeks a semester and got a 3.5.

hire someone to attend your lectures, take notes and do basic homework.. then grind for midterms/finals/papers and u only have to commit 2 weeks every 6 months to school.

Most basketball players aren't built to play football, just like most football players aren't built to play basketball, but the very best could do both.

Re:the backing in high stakes mtt is pathetic
I started a post on this a year or so ago and was always saying how much better cash players are, blah blah blah. I don't think I believe that anymore. I'm def a fish in an online 10k, but I have a really high winrate in my regular cash games (3-6 ante deep 6m on ftp and 5-10 6m on cake). Elite tournament players are WAY better at being patient, resilient (sometimes in cash it's almost good to tilt to a degree--vs regs at least), reading preflop ranges and knowing how to properly 3-bet/4-bet a variety of opponents. The skill sets are just different, while someone like me can 3 ...

Re:hand from 300r
3bet pre if that's your read.. pretty standard to play a lot of non combo fd's like this tho since checkraising fd's on broadway boards isn't that good since people don't fold too much to cr's. more of a cash game play because you use bluffs like this to balance your flushes vs regs and you only do this because you usually have it, anyways. don't like it that much in a tourney tho

Re:Am I making a mistake here or is this a cooler?
good post, also.. hand 1 think your sizing allows for too many light fourbets given stack sizes so unless youre playing super nitty on 3 bets vs him its bad.

Re:Turn spot in 150r...what's my best option?
uhh... belows checkraising air sometimes (prob too much) but, when he does, he'll barrel a lot of it or just check fold on the turn.. so by "playing at aq for value" on the turn you are just bluffing since he's either trapping you on two streets (which is possible since he's a monkey) and youre spewing or he's just check folding everytime.. if you bet worse hands can call and you can showdown a lot of rivers and you also make it cheaper if he has a better hand and wants to continue (which he will have enough to make the line optimal)

Re:Turn spot in 150r...what's my best option?
youre not winning money (and if u are its very little) longterm when this card hits vs anyone with a brain so just bet 2450 and fold to any raise or bet by them on the river...taking creative lines here just causes u to bleed money by overvaluing your hands or inducing bluffs in a spot thats bad to do that.. just be happy if they have like AQ AJ AT with a diamond and brick and check the river.. ull win... this is assuming theres no sick dynamic

Re: Quitting school in order to play poker
"why not just have your PA take your exams for you too' have him/her just write your name at the top of the paper. i mean, school seems to be a joke for u anyways right'' the things people do to get a degree astonish me." My PA doesn't take my exams for me because the risk/reward for me is bad. If I get caught, I'm fucked. As a successful poker player, you learn to intuitively value decisions by synthesizing them into the single, simple thought, "Is this good'" Using this logic, someone take notes for me and provides an essential service by saving me time, energy ...

Re: Quitting school in order to play poker
I'm in the same boat as the Universe and agree completely. If you are in a position with poker to quit school, don't. Figure out a way to make it work. I have one year left and have figured out a way to get both things done. I have hired a personal assistant to go to all of my lectures, take notes and then all I have to do is not play poker for 2 weeks a semester (midterm and finals week) where I just trade grinding poker with grinding school. Tailor your schedule for school around poker rather than the other way around. I'd recommend taking a major like econ or business because ...

Starting a blog to keep me from burning out..
Since schools over and I don't want to burn out by playing non-stop all day, I'm starting a blog which will mostly just be hands and analysis as well as brief updates on how I'm doing. If it helps anyone great, but it's mostly just for me. I'll be playing mostly 5-10 and 10-20nl on Cake. Hand histories are annoying so it might take some time to get used to.

I have a good backing deal for cash games where i provide none of the online roll, keep 92.5% of profits and pay 80% of losses. The stakes I can play are capped. I think it works well for both parties
