Re(1): Question about omaha hi/lo card calculator The calculator assumes a low is possible. In this senario, it is impossible for that hand to lose a low. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): KK early in SNG The bottom line with this particular hand is that something fishy was going on. You thought you were good by putting a presumably weak player on a hand in a low limit game. You spent a lot of time evaluating want you could beat rather than the donkey hands that could beat you. Personally, the 5 would be a scare card for me because I wouldn't put it past too many people at this level to be holding a hand like A2 - A4. The fishy nature of the hand would have made me hesitant to putting all my chips in. This, to me, is the reality of being forced to play big pocket pairs weak before the flop. ... Re(1): Good play or bad play? plo8 ? It's been a long while since I've commented on this site, but I like to think I know a thing or two about omaha8b. I find it very difficult to discuss poker on forums like this because the hand history alone doesn't provide all of the information. Things I'm concerned with when I'm about to get into any hand are my table image, what is the image of the other players, and how our seating has impacted the game. So, instead of commenting on this hand directly, it's probably saver just to discuss the game more generally, and to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of hands like KKQJ in O8b. I ... Re(1): Playing Omaha High when you get two aces Seal gave a pretty sophisticated all encompassing correct answer. I’m going to go a different way. First,. Having two extra cards doesn’t mean you have an extra hand; it means in you have 5 extra hands for a total of six, 2 card combinations. This means relative hand strength goes down compared to Hold’Em. Aces are extremely UNLIKELY to hold up in a multi-way Omaha pot. The trick to Omaha starting hand selection is having as many good potential 2 card starters (Ax suited, connectors, 3 high ranking cards, 3 cards with few cavities (for potential BIG straight draws), extra), which makes ... Re(1): Anyone seen the movie "Munich"? The story is a little hard to follow, there is a lot of Arab name dropping, it's a long movie that moves rather slowly. Granted, it's well made, but the quality of the production doesn't make the story or the script any better. Posted in: Off Topic |

I'm sure there is a portion of the population who few each puzzle as an individual IQ test, but the observation you made is hardly a reflection of the population. Re(1): question about flopping a set Actually, this was a really smart question. For some reason, I got it in my head that hitting the set of the flop was 20% give or take 1% (probably based on, as much as I hate to admit it, on the statistics they flash on the WPT or WSOP). Re(2): Cheating? Automatic shufflers tend to only support bridge sized cards, and generally blow. Not to mention are time consuming to load and use and really kill the atmosphere of a game. Not good poker. The shoe doesn't solve any problems at all other keeping the cards out of people's hands. Mostly used to prevent flashing. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Cheating? If I remember correctly, Fox grew up in Blackstone's community where everyone runs around pulling rabbits out of each others asses and the homocide rate in artifically high due to botched attempts of people cutting each other in half. So I'm not about to contradict him on deck and card manipulation. I myself got my start playing cards having carried them all the time to perform magic (I was one of those guys who wanders around Fridays). There are simplier ways to PREVENT cheating. The only real way to catch a cheater is really knowing what to look for, and that comes with knowing the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Question for the regular players/pros They're everywhere! RUN! No seriously, they are at every level. The distribution of donkey's will always vary. There is simply no equation that can be given to estimate donk value of a table based on the stakes alone. A father explaination would be that bankroll management versus income and wealth is all relative, but that get's really boring in a hurry. Typically, $15/$30 and above (games outside my realistic bankroll) have a smaller donkey distribution, but mostly because losing players don't tend to repeat playing at those tables. Even if they can afford it, they can have just as much ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): How do you play AK off suit (pre-flop) Somehow, you've confused the value of AK with a Big Pair like AA and KK (this is common, especially online). AK is a draw type hand, and could be considered a better hand then AA and KK. " An A-K is a 'better' hand than two Aces or two Kings for two very important reasons: 1. You'll win more money if you hit a hand with it; and 2. You'll lose less money when you miss a hand with it (Super/System, 472)." So basically you've completely elimated it's second element of being a good hand (that being, it's completely foldable at anytime). I hate the idea of calling all-in's pre-flop with AK. ...
