Need suggestions for good low stakes tournaments during the day Hey all, i finally decided that although i find cash games more appealing, i am not that good with then. However, i have had a real lot of success in MTTs and so i am gonna exlusively stick to those for a while. As of now i only do the $5 R&A 7.5k Guarenteed on Cake which starts at midnight because i spend most of my poker time during the day struglging in cash games. Can you all suggest some similar Low Stakes ($10 Buy in or less) MTTs on Tilt/Stars that i can grind during the day' Thanks! Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:QQ in $320.....call all in? Ill be honest, i don't play that high of stakes but my 2 cents is that if Trigga 3bets all in when he has a 25BB stack, then Jmaster 4bets all in with a 30BB stack, i'd say queens aren't gonna do the trick. + u only raised 2.5x the BB so you can get away from this one. 10k to 40mil in 2 months My friend was telling me a story about some guy who supposedly went to vegas with 10k on a loan and got it up to 40 mil in just a few months, then lost it all... or something along those lines. He said there was an article on him here at P5's. anyone else hear about this or can post the link' Sounds like clear cut bs to me but i am still interested in the read Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Question regarding the BB/100 standard I keep hearing people say that winning 4Big Blinds per 100 hands is considered a successful session. When i play, it's usualy for only 100 hands so as not to get fatigued and off my game. I play .25/.50nl and i would consider winning $10 in an hour (100 hands) pretty successful, not very successful. That means i am making 20BB/100, which according to the 4bb/100 standard is SUPER successful. Now i know i am not an amazing player yet, but it still does not seem like an accomplishment winning $10/hour... about what i would make working at a pizza shop like most of my friends do. For ... Gus Hansen: Every Hand Revealed I came across this book and it seemed like it provided some really good insight to professional poker thought. While i personally play much lower limits which don't really require the same type of play as in the aussie millions, this book seemed like it does a good job of showing you the type of thought processes that should be used in every decision, regardless of the limit. Had to see what the P5's counsel thought before buying it. Good purchase' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Live Mental Notes Some people can be very good at poker but not have the money (for a variety of reasons) to play higher stakes. And there are aggressive donks, loose donks, tight donks, etc... which leads be back to my original post. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Live Mental Notes I like the idea of generalizing them as all donks until proven otherwise. Helps you play aggressive/fearless poker (without overdoing it of course) However what i ment by "generalizing" is categorizing someone based on a general style of play. Like "this guy is calling station, that guy is a rock, this guy is tight-agressive". However i don't think those are specific enough to really benefit from. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Live Mental Notes I am interested to see how each of you go about taking notes on players at a live cash game. It seems way to hard to remember exactly what one guy did, exactly what the board was and who he was up against 10 hands ago when there are 7 other people at the table when u are up against him in a current hand. So instead do you just generalize whether he is tight or loose and what his limping/raising range is' In the live games i play at i can usually figure out 3 or 4 people but once i start taking mental notes on another person i sometimes mix up the info i had on others. Curious side note: What ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bad Shove? Early stage of Sit&Go blinds at 15/30. I check in the BB with A6 with two limpers after me. Flop comes A 6 8 rainbow. I Check, Next guy bets 75, next guy raises to 225, i Shove. Bad PLay' I could have bet right off the bat but i imagine the same guy would have raised me and i would have shoved all in again... He ended up having a set of eights, should i have assumed this after his aggressive re-raise' Or was this a good spot to push' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:winning someones roll If anything, you did him a favor. He was playing out of his league and you showed it to him. Maybe now he will exercise solid Bankroll management and. On top of that im sure you reminded him about why it's important to STOP when you're on tilt. You taught him two very important lessons in poker. He should ship you an extra $20. Re:SNGs I play in donkaments and $5 sit n go's where there is a lot of awkward raises and plays that really dont make any sense. Not to mention a couple people have posted in this thread that they share the same problem i do. I dont see whats not to understand. I have been studying books as well as my own play. There are a lot of good players on here who im sure have a lot to offer which is why i came here looking for any advice i can get. A few of you have offered very helpful advice to which i say thank you. Any further advice is also appreciated. I have little patience for people who make ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:SNGs Ugh, this isn't a bad beat!! AK getting beat by two pair isn't a bad beat, in fact AKo vs 86s rates to win only 58% of the time... I was illustrating how a large portion of my competition consists of awkward preflop raises and just as awkward post flop play. I was looking for advice on how best to capitalize. So far i have been playing super-tight, which works but is hard to maintain because it requires a lot of patience... And no its not a tilt-thread either. Like i said, i am 19 and looking to capitiaize at the stakes i play at... I don't have years and years of experience ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:SNGs EDIT: Gonna make a new thread on this topic, would really appreciate your input threeven Hmmm, i can't say i agree with you. When someone raises UTG 4x the BB you would assume the have a pretty good hand right' Well in the last tourney i played in i had AK on the cutoff, called a 4.5xBB raise when there were no other callers, the button and blinds folded as well. Flop comes As 8c 6h. He checks, i bet about 1/2 pot, he calls. Turn:4d. He checks, i bet 2/3 pot, he calls. River: 2c he checks, at this point i think he must have trip 8's so i check as well and he turns over 8d6d for a two ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:SNGs Thanks everyone who provided me with advice. I suppose i should just take advantage of what i have until the time comes to move up stakes where competition will naturally be more challenging. While yes, it is very frustrating being outdrawn by clowns and never being able to put your opponents on a hand, i also play to win money and i suppose cake is not a bad place to do it for now. I will take a look at that book by Shaw since a few of you recommended it. P.S. In response to one of you (i forget who said it) I actually highly regard the posters on this forum, if i didn't, why would i be ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:SNGs Ok look me up on (No Scope) i am up over $800 which is more than most of you can say... My "playing smart poker is a disadvantage" statement was sarcasm because playing smart poker means capitalizing on other's flaws which can always be done successfully. Apparently it's too difficult for a lot of people to read between the lines so let me rephrase this. I am looking for a site where people know when to fold and you can actually OUTPLAY PEOPLE, NOT OUTDRAW THEM. I have gone very deep in tournaments there only because i would sit around folding hand after hand after hand ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

SNGs 2 questions for y'all 1: I play on cake poker and there are so many donks on there that playing smart poker is actually a disadvantage. Literally impossible to put someone on a hand or know where ur at in a hand. people will raise preflop with any cards that are the same color, they will call your bluffs with any kind of hand, and the standard preflop raise is generally around 8x the BB. This may sound like playing super-tight will make u a millionaire, but i would much prefer playing smart poker and outplaying opponents. This way, when (hopefully) i move up stakes i wont have to ... Re:Is this a donk play...or good poker? I think you played it well. Based on his weak bet on the flop i put him on a hand like AQ (since he raised preflop), and def not a king. and when he called your raise it reinforced me putting him on AQ because a 10 or an Ace would put him in the lead, making the call worthwhile. When the 8 came, it def didn't improve his hand so a strong bet would win you the pot. And even if he did call, you had a shot at hittin your flush. He should have folded your raise on the flop. Just my opinion, interested to hear others. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Multi-Table low stakes or Single Table high stakes? I am getting a bankroll going now and am looking to step my game up. It seems like i have two options and i can't decide which is more profitable, looking for some advice. I can either A) start multi-tabling .25/.50 nl or B) single table .50/$1 nl If i multi-table ill be seeing more hands which (hopefully) means more profit by the end of the night. However i am sacrificing catching table patterns and picking up on who is tight and whatnot. If i single table higher stakes ill be seeing less hands but ill be able to give that table my full attention, catching onto people's tendencies ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
