Official PokerStars Home Games Thread
I was wondering why my post was deleted..... I created a HomeGames Club. Currently there is a lack of limit 5 card draw MTT selections. The highest buy-in curently on Stars is only $5. So I created my Club with limit 5 card draw in mind. As of now I have 8 tournaments scheduled. The first starting on Wednesday the 19th. I have Euro-time MTTs as well. Currently, we are up to 16 members.....and would like more. The more the merrier. If you want more limit 5 card draw MTT options, by all means....join the club! Club number 8373, Passcode "5 Card Draw" (capitalize the C and D)

PokerStars Home Games
I just created a homegroup centered around adding more limit 5 card draw MTTs since there really aren't many available right now. Let me know if you are interested in joining. All tournaments are $20 buyins (which is the current max).

Best study material for playing online for a living?
I don't think the OP was looking for books on how to play poker profitably. If so, then he is definitely not ready, including in 3-6 months time. I think instead he was looking for books to help with the lifestyle of a poker player and what to maybe expect. If that is the case I would suggest 2 books: Ace on the River- Barry Greenstein. Its a decent book that will bring up topics that you would rarely think about unless playing professionally. and Zen and the Art of Poker- Larry Phillips. Good book to help with variance.

Full Tilt deals me only one hole card once in a while.
If Annette can win without seeing both cards, I don't see why you can't win when you can see one.

Re:FTP Pros to skip NAPT?
I completely understand where FTP is coming from, but I think they have it backwards. They should want FullTilt representation at these tournaments to get FullTilt some kind of advertising since PokerStars will be all over the place. Staying in the minds of the poker players should be more important than not participating at all. I really hope this trend does not continue across all tours. I think it is pretty ridiculous. For some reason this quote comes to mind, how relevant it is you can decide: "Sorry kid, I only sign Upperdeck baseball cards"

Re:Recommendations for new poker laptop
I too have been starting look into getting a new laptop. I currently own an older Dell 17" Inspiron that has really hit its limits. The 2 main laptops I am looking at right now are: Alieanware M17x HP dv8t Series I am looking to spend in the range of 2k-2.5k. So with both computers I can customize by adding some stuff. I was originally leaning towards the Alienware machine, but have since started to sway towards the HP machine. The HP has an 18.3 inch screen, and I can get 1TB Hard drive. Some other stuff seems to be better options with the HP, but really you can't go wrong with ...

Re:Positive side of variance
Sounds to me like you are always getting it in good, thus when you lose a hand it is always a "beat" To be a better player, you need to get it in bad too. Think about that statement.....there is reasoning behind it though it sounds contradicting.

Re:will u giveaway chips to gain info ? what percentage ?
You shouldn't need to spend money to get a read on your opponents. Let your opponents spend the money, and watch their hands play out as they play against each other. I can possibly see reasons to in a HU match but still 10% is way too much of my stack just to get a read.

Re:PokerStars Step 6: Cash Exit... Make it happen!!!
Valid point, but not everyone thinks like that. Especially not the players you want to be playing against in a step 5 or step 6. If you build it, they will come.

Re:PokerStars Step 6: Cash Exit... Make it happen!!!
TO JENNIFEAR: I like your ideas. Yes, I thought about these (similar) payout structures as well when formulating what I had in the original post. However.....and why I came to the conclusion that I did..... A top heavy payout would not attract players to continue on past step 4 if they started from say step 1. These are the players that more often than not just take the "easy" route and take their $215 and run. They want less of a risk of ruin. The top heavy payout is the same thing as what they already offer in the live tournament satellites. But if someone doesn't want to ...

Re:question about PCA
Tournament entries are not "cash value" they are tournament entries. You are not "unreg" if you don't use a step ticket, you are simply using it for another tournament. Hence you you can't get cash for that ticket, just tournament entry.

Re:question about PCA
Unregistering will just get you your step ticket back. There is no way to get any type of cash value unless you play on to step 6.

Re:PokerStars Step 6: Cash Exit... Make it happen!!!
Just to clarify Stevie, you are just disagreeing with the regulars being able to win multiple seats right' What do you think of this option of a cash exit step 6' I would think anything that gets more step 5s and 6s going, you would be in favor of. Stars would still be making money, actually more, since it will drive the participation up.

Re:PokerStars Step 6: Cash Exit... Make it happen!!!
You can change the payouts slightly. Like make more step 4s and step 5s, instead of step 6s. Then add money to the top 2 places or add 3rd place as cash. But yes, the general idea is to get the players back into the step 4s and 5s. This would increase the number of games going in those steps. By paying all 9, it guarantees this to happen. While at the same time allowing people to "exit" with a cash win.

Re:PokerStars Step 6: Cash Exit... Make it happen!!!
I thought about that too. But honestly, if someone wants a bigger payday, they have the current options. This is more geared to the risk-conscious and also people that might have started from step 1-3. Turning $7 into $5500 isn't too bad imo. This will also guarantee people will stay in the step system should they lose. Maybe you could make one of the step 6s tickets a step 5, an add the money to the first two spots.

PokerStars Step 6: Cash Exit... Make it happen!!!
This is a petition to PokerStars to add a cash step 6. Example and reasons below: Step 6: 2100 Buyin 18k prize pool 1st- $5,500 2nd- $3,670 3rd- Step 6 ($2100) 4th- Step 6 ($2100) 5th- Step 6 ($2100) 6th- Step 5 ($700) 7th- Step 5 ($700) 8th- Step 4 ($215) 9th- Step 4 ($215) Why the numbers above' This will likely be more sought after by the players that start at steps 1-3. It will entice players to enter the step system that otherwise don't mess with it. Just having more steps running on a continual basis will be good for all levels, including the current step 6s offered. Why is ...

Re:$1,000,000 step ladder on Everleaf
They probably have this set up to try and attract players. As you said no one is ever on there. I wouldn't be surprised that when and if they ever get enough players on this site, they just change the terms of this step system. Ah yes, the good ole bait and switch. I doubt they would make enough to really pay for the final if it is really 1mil guaranteed. Then again, might be wrong on this one. Tell me how it works out for ya.

I see 2 options, call and play for set value and use your position. Thats ok. I would rather push or raise it to 2.5k. This reraise would give you the same info as a 3.5k raise would in my opinion.

Re:have u ever played drunk and WON?
This is not 100% percent true. Some people loosen up with just the right amount of drinks allowing for a much more fluid stroke on the cue ball. If you play too stiff either because you are nervous or don't have a very good stroke, alcohol CAN help in this instance. But if you surpass your limit and the coordination truly does go out the window, then so does your pool game. I play a decent pool game sober, feel I play better in the 2-8 beer range, and suck after about 10. But then again, if I am drinking and playing....this usually means I am playing someone else who is drinking, so ...

Re:If we legalize online poker ....
They will probably tax the players and the sites. My guess is that they will tax based on cashouts when taxing the players. That would be the easiest way for the players and the sites. Somewhere in the range of 20-25 percent. Then at the end of the year, they will tax the amount withstanding in your account. I can see it now....instead of "bonuses" you will have sites paying a percentage of your taxes based on your VIP level. This is all speculation though, it would be great if they just taxed the sites and left everything else as is.

Looking more into it, I guess it is legal at the moment. Its still very iffy though as they have taken an extremely liberal approach to the law. I am surprised more places in VA, like in Richmond or by DC haven't opened up. Hmmm....maybe I need to talk to Spacygravy and get some funding for opening up Richmond's first poker hall.

That article is from 2007, so I don't know how relevant it is. But honestly, I am pretty sure poker is ILLEGAL no matter if the house takes a cut or not (in a public venue). In a private venue (home game) then it becomes illegal if the house takes a cut. If your above statement were 100% true don't you think bars and restaurants would offer blackjack, poker, roulette etc to entice visitors and make money in alcohol sales'''' The only poker I have seen in the Richmond area in a public setting is that of a free, no buy-in, league where you normally play for a tiny prize that the ...

I seriously doubt the results would show anything like this for your standard long-term investor. Unless it has been a really bad 5-10 year period. Your numbers might be more on par as it is related to all the people that try to day trade. But again, I have no idea.
