Baseball Discussion May 7 - May 13 Carpenter, Peavy, Santana, Lee (although nothing major), Pineda, Hanson, Josh Johnson, Oswalt, Ubaldo, Latos, Cueto, etc. And guys who hanve't missed significant time, but have turned to shit, like Ubaldo. The list of injured big bats I'm sure is pretty comparable, but pitchers tend to not last as long as most hitters. Not many Cliff Lee's of Halladay's who can pitch into their late 30's with no problems. Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 lol I'm on the Meadowbrook every weekday, but it's the Southern State that rapes on traffic. And yeah, was in a shitty mood last night, so was making it a bigger deal than it was. Although the "they're done without him" (or whatever it was) you said is still pretty off. It'll be weird as hell in October for sure, but they can get by. Bullpen is still the least of their needs. Guess that means he was probably planning on retiring before this. Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 Joba was just the first example that came to mind. Point being, Roberton's "pure stuff" (the definition that comes to mind when I think of "live arm") is not as amazing as you made it sound. It is not the same as guys like Kimbrel, Walden (last year), Joba (in 2007), Axford, and other elite relievers that his numbers put him in company of. With that said, that's obviously not what makes Robertson what he is, like I've been saying. It's his deception, longer stride and the "sneaky fast" effect that has, among other things. All I've been saying. Obviously Robertson shits on Joba, and the ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 Lol that was what I was saying. Obviously Joba's stuff was never the same after the first shoulder injury. And I didn't say his slider velocity was better. It was "nearly" there, aka the slider topped out close to where Robertson's fastball bottoms out. Since when does "nearly" mean "greater"' Idk how much he is being "groomed", or how much you can "groom" any pitcher to be Mariano's heir. But yeah, barring injuries, Robertson is the next closer. And it's not because Mariano taught him the cutter, like he has to many other Yankee pitchers. Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 Agreed. Kuroda's bottom line is near what I expected (maybe a little better), athough I expected him to be consistently average, not inconsistent like that. I'm losing confidence on Hughes now, had some high hopes for him to start the year. CC and Nova will obviously come around. Subjective opinion of "live arm" aside, which we obviously seem to be way different on. From a pure stuff standpoint, not taking into account control or deception. Do you honestly think Robertson now (or last year) had better pure stuff than Joba in 2007' Fastball 5+ mph difference on fastball (albeit ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 You do realize that simply saying something is making your point, when it is contradicting what you are saying, is not actually making your point, right' You've got one weird definition of "live arm" if you think that's making your point. Thank you. And so much for that stacked rotation. Although even I didn't expect them to be this bad. Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 Enlighten me. If his pure stuff is that amazing, why was he a 17th round draft pick, never much of a prospect, and have 3 years as "barely on their radar", as you put it' Surely, if his arm was so live, he would've made a name for himself by then. Compared to Joba, and others players who were high draft picks and big prospects, because of their "stuff". Like I said before, it's not the "live arm" that makes Robertson as effective as he is. Low 90's fastball with plus movement and a plus breaking ball in the pen is not as earth shattering as you make it sound. Compared to Joba's high ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 That was supposed to be past tense. Joba's pure stuff when he first came up>>>>Robertson. There's other things that make Robertson better than them, other than a "live arm". Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 Yup, a player screaming almost 400 feet away say's EVERYTHING. Why do the retards always seem to be Yankee fans' They're sooooooooo fucked with having only the 2nd or 3rd best (still arguably the best) bullpen in the American League, instead of having the best by far. Stop posting, please. Ugh seriously' Joba has better pure stuff than Robertson. You're talking like he has an arm like Aroldis Chapman or something. Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 Even without Mo, they still have the best bullpen in the division, and top 3 in the AL. They're fine without 60-70 innings from one player (if it was worst case and he's out for the year). Saying they're done without Rivera is fucking absurd. Only player on the Yankees you can say that about is CC. Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 30 - May 6 It's Robertson, without a doubt. Don't see how there's even a debate. One of the most dominant relievers in baseball (state-wise, more dominant than Mo for the past calendar year), compared to a good reliever with a bad attitude who is extremely overpaid. I don't think it's nearly as big a deal as people are making it. Robertson+Soriano is still a better combo than most teams, and they have depth to go along with it. And they can always drop Hughes back in there if Phelps can be passable as the #5 (not saying I want this to happen), where he's had success before. Posted in: Off Topic |

Official First Round of NHL Playoffs Thread This. I doubt Vancouver and Edmonton are making any trades anytime soon, and I don't really see Edmonton being all that interested anyway. Tampa at least has a decent team. They fell apart this year, but just one year ago were a very good team, with the same core. That's not something the Panthers could have said in the past like, 15 years (before this year). I guess I could see him waiving his NTC for Toronto, but Tampa is a better situation imo. Why would you post that' That's such an awkwardly creepy gay gif. Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 16-22 Lee could have a considerate drop off in performance, and still be a solid #2. Lee being a #1/2 is not what is going to make or break the Phillies season. Your argument still hardly makes any sense. Talk about the lineup, or their long term prospects if they lose Hamels, but you're talking down to them, and using the best #2 starter in baseball, and one of the most reliable pitchers in the game as your basis' Wtf. And Lawrie is a hell of a lot more than a "slightly above average position player". A very good fielder, with plus power, and can swipe bags at a decent clip, who already put ... Baseball Discussion April 16-22 What does Cliff Lee have to do with the Phils not having enough' If they don't make the playoffs (they probably will), it's because of a non-existent lineup. Lee is probably the #2 in baseball. Any failures the Phils have this year, injuries aside, can't be pinned on the top end of the rotation. Really don't know why you'd pick out him of all people to talk down on the Phils about. And the Jays made a great trade with Marcum. I'll take Lawrie over Marcum any day of the week. Baseball Discussion April 16-22 A chance to make the playoffs' Not likely, but I guess. Do they have a chance at winning the division, though' Not really. That is what I was getting at, made to sound more harsh because of the poster I was responding to. In all seriousness, though, I can't see them edging out LAA for the 2nd wildcard, and I'm still not writing off Boston, even with how bad things look now. I assume we can agree that the division and 1st wildcard will go the NYY and Tampa, in no particular order. And my money is on the runner up for the AL West for the 2nd wildcard, especially considering the ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 16-22 (From the last thread) If he stays where he was the past two years, then yes, I expect he'll break CC's record (although I'm not sold that the Yankees being a frontrunner is a given). I just don't see him staying where he is now. I think I'm just assuming the decline continues, and you're thinking he'll stay around where he is. If we continues his decline, and puts up a ~3.5 xFIP, and a high 3 next year, are we in agreement that he won't break CC's record' Not saying he won't get a massive contract or overpaid, but I just don't think CC money. In that scenario, I also don't think ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion - April 9-15 His elite years are already 2 years in the past. Unless he reverts back to that (or even just improves a little from where he was the past 2 years), he's not setting records with his elite years 4 years in the past. Baseball Discussion - April 9-15 Would you feel comfortable giving a mega contract to a guy who has had his K/9 drop by over half a point each of the past 3 years, and BB/9 raise by more than 1/3 of a point over the same span' Plus an XFIP raising by ~.25 a year.
