military Alright I was exactly in your boat a little over a year ago. I was 29 when I signed up for the Army, and have been in for 13 months now. I was an ex-mortgage broker that could not find any kind of decent job without a bachelors degree. I spent 2 years toiling online playing poker before I decided to join the Army. I am by far not your typical Army personality. I'm fairly educated, with an associates degree, as well as most of my credits towards my bachelors degree. I am not any of the stereotypes associated with Army or military personal. So take my advice knowing where I have been and come ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:My Schedule for Friday Everytime I play a holdem tourney I end up saying its the stupidest game out there after I bust. Ha. I definitely notice a difference in the skill set between nl holdem players and pl omaha 8 players, and I don't know what else to say other than I have the tools for omaha, but am lacking at holdem. Re:My Schedule for Friday Prize pools vary from $2k to $5k. 1st in most of them is around 900ish. And Yes I would be happy winning 1/15...That would be great, but last Friday I played 5 and won 3, and netted $3.8k. My lifetime ROI in 08 tournies is 140%. I'm probably going to be spending between $400-$500 after the rebuys. So in a perfect world I'd make 140% of my buyins. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Leaderboards for other games. Any chance we will ever see leaderboards for other games' I would love to see a leaderboard that tracked only omaha hi tournies, omaha h/l tournies, etc. I'm biased since I play 08, but even if I didn't I think I would like to see it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Omaha hi/lo experts Alright, I may be wrong, but being 7 bb's deep in Omaha h/l is a tad bit different then being 7 bb's deep in nl holdem. I almost view 7 bbs in )8 as 14 bbs in holdem.....It's just easier to negotiate with less bb's in 08 than holdem, so I still say I either fold this hand pre, or llimp and fold to a raise. Re:Omaha hi/lo experts I do pretty well at 08.....To be honest I dont like your raise pre. I prefer raising with an ace and some other broadway card, preferably the king, and some kind of low such as a3, a4, etc. The problem with committing all ur chips with bad a2 hands is you have to hit a low unless you pair up your other two cards. Ur opponent and you can whiff the whole board and AK will scoop a big pot.....Happens more often then you think. I may be in the minority, but I think you can limp and evaluate on the flop. Once he raises pre I probably just dump it.....I hate calling my stack off with bad A2 hands. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Sick Heater for me!!!!!! Cashed in 12/17, final tabled 8/17, and outright won 6 mtts! I've been self taught at this game. I've read holdem books, but never read any books for omaha h/l.....I started playing it in home live games when I was 18, so about 10 years ago. And that is how I cut my teeth. I was the young guy at the game, everyone else was in there 30's, and we played dealers choice, pot limit games. We would play 7 stud h/l, omaha 8, 5 stud, some holdem, maybe a couple others, but primarily 7 stud h/l and 08. To be honest, i've always just felt like I had a better feel for the game then my opponents. What I notice as the biggest difference between ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Sick Heater for me!!!!!! Cashed in 12/17, final tabled 8/17, and outright won 6 mtts! So I've kind of had good results this week.....I play almost exclusively Omaha H/L mtt's....My last 17 Omaha H/L Mtts, dating back to January 25th, I've managed to cash in 12 of 17, final tabled 8 of 17, and outright took first place in 6 of them. The other final table appearances were a 2nd place finish and a 7th. I'm still amazed and can't really believe it myself. If this is not impressive because of it not being massive nl holdem tournies, then I'll go crawl back in my cave, and keep booking my mediocre size wins. This was all on Pokerstars by the way.
