Do you think i could play this differently ? its possible, i mean it happened in this hand, but my point was if he is flatting preflop for 2k with effective 5k behind with hands like K8, hes probably flatting with alot of rly bad hands and hes probably willing to go broke with alot of bad hands. he seems like the type of player would stack of with 9X and TJ JQ most PPs etc etc the fact that an 8 could be in his range just means that his range is so wide that we still should probably be calling id find it hard to believe that someone flatting K8o preflop for 30% of effective stacks is folding all the hands we are beating besides trips Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Mini ftops event29 weird spot ill run the EV calculation for you, ill start with these assumptions as ranges SB - 55+, A9+, KJs+, KQ BB - 88+ AQ+ so heres how it goes 450 in the pot from antes our 1050 in the pot already 2845 from the SB 2845 from the BB pot total = 7190 we have to call 1795 to win 7190. the equity needed is 19.97% vs those ranges we get equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 21.919% 20.28% 01.64% 1810998169 146808726.67 { AsJd } Hand 1: 30.668% 28.47% 02.20% 2542970152 196288142.17 { 55+, A9s+, KJs+, A9o+, KQo } Hand 2: 47.412% 45.93% 01.48% ... Checking for Pot Control? in general i like the check, id say most of the time im checking the turn as well the problem is we almost never get 3 streets of value from hands that arent ahead of top pair crap kicker. but vs this villian, if u think hes going to call down with almost any pair or you think you might induce a raise from alot of crap, then obviously betting away is fine when you find these loose cannons who are drinking, alot of times playing a hand the conventional way will lose you value. its hard for me to tell you if you should have bet, i would base it on the types of hands hes been taking to ... Do you think i could play this differently ? the smooth call means nothing he has one guy who shoved for 5,328 and another guy who is sitting on 5,500. if we also had 18k id say flatting might indicate more streingth than iso shoving. but for an extra 170 chips flatting and shoving are exactly the same honestly, i dont think MP3 is folding any of the PPs thats in his range. and either id say he has no 8s in his range or id say he has the potential of showing up with a bunch of crap here, an 8 shouldnt be in his range like ever except for 88 so knowing he could have an 8, i expect him to stack off with alot of hands we beat as ... made correct hero call, but need more indepth opinions of how it was played out agree with the bet sizing coments that have been made so far, when you overbet the pot on the flop you are really only asking for hands that beat you to come along. gutsy river call, for the most part when someone overshoves a river they have the goods, but i like the call here #1 when we check the river it looks like weakness, we would NEVER check a full house and probably rarely check a good flush, so checking usually means we are giving up or bluff catching. and often even the hands we want to bluff catch with we would fold to an overshove. so there is a good chance he puts us on a hand ... AK on the first hand you can obviously raise AK preflop, but in general i dont hate flatting in situations like this. the real problem is that we are out of position. the flop is good for us but not great. there really arent that many hands that we can be shoving here besides AK or a set. there are no draws and shoving worse kings doesnt make sense. its not even a spot to really bluff. so against decent players we probably get them to fold out hands we are ahead of often but flatting with 2 ppl already in the hand and being OOP isnt so fun either. with a FD on the flop id shove in a second, with this flop id ... Early Stage 18k PS id probably call, a FD is the most likely of his holdings, we will never be in great shape since most likely he will have a FD plus an over card but theres alot of money in the middle already and we are ahead way more than we are behind Posted in: Poker Discussion |

As a general rule... there are alot of factors that come into play that you arent including if i raise AQ from UTG im folding more often then when i raise on the button are there antes in play have we or the villian been tight or active Posted in: Poker Discussion |

what would U do calm down a bit pete, it seems that your only intention in posting the hand was to be able to boast to people, this should be a place to be able to have good discussion and i happen to think this hand could be really well discussed. but once you start attacking people and playing the "i'm clearly right your clearly wrong" card it ruins discussion now about the hand i think its pretty obvious that the call preflop is pretty bad, even you admit to the fact we need much higher pot odds than what we are getting, its impossible to actually know that we will get paid off any time we hit our 2 and ... Bad Call?? Too Spewy?? if your gona play the hand raise it pre, as was mentioned if thats the range you put him on its a call ranging these shoves though is almost imposible as some ppl will only do it with monsters and some will shove pretty wide. there isnt really a wrong answer and ill usually make my decision based on my mood Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Good bluff or 2 risky? when you call that turn you basicly have to shove the river at least im hoping you only called the turn with the intention of bluffing bluff cards in which case the river was an excellent bluff card is it risky' ya, i probably would have just folded earlier in the hand, idk if we are getting the right odds to call in order to bluff good bluff cards, i dont think our bluff would work too often if the river was a blank. plus this is a freeroll, so banking on someone making a big laydown isn't going to work too often Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Major flaw in Ante Up tournament structure this reminds me of a hand i experianced on i think FTP a while ago one of the players had a rly messed up connection that would come and go. this one hand his bar to act got about 2/3 empty when he disconnected, but he only disconnected for like a second, not long enough for his disconnect time bank to actually tick, but enough for it to detect he got disconnected. when he reconnected his bar at the bottom of his name to signify time to act reset, and again b4 it reached the end he disconnected and recconected resetting the bar. this went on for about 3 mins without any disconnect time ...
