ACC Basketball Press Release NORTH CAROLINA (AP) -- Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced today that a foul is tentatively scheduled to be called against Duke sometime in the first half of their game with UNC in Chapel Hill, next Tuesday, February 7th. In a joint press conference with Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, and ACC Director of Officials John Clougherty, Swofford said an agreement had been reached for a touch foul to be whistled on as-yet-to-be-determined Blue Devil player around the 7:00 minute mark during the first half of the game at the Smith Center. "We are very excited to arrange ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Worst run of luck you've had in one tournament? I think I've got it topped.. for my playing history, anyway. I played tonight in the Riptide $5k on Paradise (I know, I know.. $2 rebuy.. that was my first mistake.. even playing it). Anyway.. 6 times I lost all my chips. Once with AA (beaten by 49), and 5 times with AK.. never beaten by a pocket pair.. each time bested by a truly crappy hand, 'cept for the one time it was KQ. I only lost $20 in the tournament.. but wow, man.. it was like as soon as I saw Big Slick I knew I was doomed. On three of the hands, I called the next card to come (the only one that would beat me). What's your ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

Re(15): Palmeiro says he cant explain steroid test I'm not aware that steroids are miracle drugs which replace talent. You still have to put an unGodly amount of work in to develop the muscles. They simply provide the ability to recharge quickly to work out even more. Furthermore, Canseco's book (and many doctors who were interviewed after said book) asserts that steroids when handled by a competent physician are perfectly safe. He's certainly suffered no deleterious health effects. It's amusing to me that the book he wrote is taken as canon by so many.. except on that point. The idea of perfectly, demonstrably safe steroids is not ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(2): Kyle Boller - Future MVP?? [pedant mode=on] proverbial [pedant mode=off] As for Lewis, I suspect that he'll play next year and the year after, then call it a career. What will be interesting to see is if the Ravens can put together another great defense before he's gone. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(13): Palmeiro says he cant explain steroid test There is a difference between comparing two things to illustrate a point and saying that those two things are the same. Further, who's business is it but the player/person using <whatever> what they put into their body' This parochial bullshit in our society needs to stop. It's fucking ridiculous. Re(11): Palmeiro says he cant explain steroid test The whole argument is ridiculous, though. Steroids are banned because they work.. because we live in a paternalistic society where vast groups think they have the right to dictate morality for all. The idea in this case is "You can't get something for nothing.. it's just not right/natural!" Our society tried something similar toward the start of the 20th century.. it was called Prohibition, and it didn't work. Whatever a player wants to put into their body, that's their business. If the risks associated with said enhancement chemicals are worth it to them, again.. that's their business and ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(3): Paris Hilton (NSFW) Ditto. I've dated hotter. Many, many guys have.. it's only insecure nitwits that bust out with "Oh SUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE you have.. uh huh, yeah right.", etc, etc. 9s and 10s really aren't that rare, fellas. Go try a couple.. they're NOT all that. She can look like a goddess all day long, but at some point, it gets boring if you can't talk to her in the morning 'cause she's either got nothing to say or she's too busy doing something to maintain that goddess body/face to worry about anything else. Re(6): 40 Yard Dash human bone structure and density are not evolving every day. Evolution takes millions of years. That's simply not the case. You can see changes merely by looking at 2005 vs. 1905 or 1805, etc. There are many documented changes. Evolution does not take place all at once after a given span of years, whether that span is a hundred or a million or twenty million. It's a gradual process. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(5): Farewell MNF "Dr. Z" put this nugget of wisdom in the aforementioned column: "Dan Fouts was a terrific analyst. All you have to do is tune into the college games to see how good he is. No one doing NFL games is in his class." ..which leads me to think that he was drunk when he wrote that bit for , as Fouts is easily one of the five worst announcers/analysts on the major networks. Re(10): Falcons, one of the most underacheving teams ever...... A few articles: / As for football-related bits off-field, we only got to see him for two years at Tech, but from what little I heard, I was impressed. I know that he's worked hard in the off-season in Atlanta while learning a new offensive system, something that always seem to slip the minds of those so eager to go after him. I think the main thing Michael Vick needs to improve, aside from his accuracy, is his ability to play his game without worrying about the daggers cast at him by the ignorant. He is not a drop-back passer and won't be until his legs will no longer carry him ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(18): I know it's early.. but where's CFH? Can you pick one point and stay on it' You brought up Skins fans and their supposed blustering.. ..when you bring it on yourself.. ..and then point to this thread as an example for your "point" about Skins fans.. ..to which I respond that you've got NO room to talk (you don't). There was nothing in this thread about anyone being an authority on anything. I didn't say your team sucks, nor will I say that your team sucks. If your QB had one more year (maybe two) under his belt, I'd say that the Giants would be the favorites coming out of the NFC to challenge the Colts. As things stand ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(1): Good Job Washington !!!!! I actually somewhat agree on Portis' dance.. it was.. odd. I think he's just trying a little too hard to be creative in a world of Owens/Johnson/etc. He should just hand the ball to the official and be done with it. As for seeing the Giants in January.. that would certainly be interesting. Posted in: Off Topic |
