quitting poker -> micro frustration
Many guys have already given you good advice, but I'll throw in my two cents as well. I have been where you are today. Micro 3K+ runner MTTs are indeed minefields that are extremely frustrating to navigate through. It doesn't mean you shouldn't play them at all, but it does mean that you shouldn't only play them. Look for smaller fields. Mix MTTs with SnGs. For buy-ins $5 and under don't do anything fancy, just play your cards and standard ABC poker. Unless you have very specific reads on your opponents, never assume you can bluff someone off as little as a middle pair. They say for a ...

Hand from final table of Pokerstars 4max... advice on all streets!
I'm certainly not folding the river as played. This is a $4 tournament, for God's sake. Your hand is slightly underrepresented here. You checked top pair on the flop, bet turn and checked river with top two. Obviously, monsters like AA and QQ are indeed in his range (would be incredibly unlucky on your part to get a board like that vs one of those). But more likely is that he has AK, AQ, or even AJ there, to none of which you lose. Again, you haven't quite represented your top-two to the extent of its strength, so it's difficult for him to put you on something so big. A made flush also ...

Making a Deal...plus a sick brag.
In my opinion, whenever you are a significant chip leader and there's a deal discussion, you should always insist on doing the chip chop, or at least something close to it. That way, you only need come off the 1st place money by a little bit. Doing an even money chop with 12M, 9M & 6M stacks is just not right.

Live mtt tipping at casinos that already hold back % for staff
Same story in pretty much every poker room in Las Vegas, unfortunately. Everyone withholds 3% on top of the rake (which for most daily tourneys is no less than 17-20%). Hell knows where those 3% go, but it's certainly not the dealers or the cocktail waitresses. Damn crooks.

***Immigration Policies Thread***
I just got home from Las Vegas yesterday, and easily changed my country of residence to Russia on Full Tilt. Didn't even have to contact support to make that change, just did it myself. It won't be so easy with Stars. On their address change form the "Country" field is disabled. I'll try contacting their support today and just hope for the best.

Yes, that certainly compensates very nicely for me being locked out of my entire bankroll and banned from tournaments despite me being a foreign resident.

What happens to live tournaments now? WSOPC Caesars Palace, Venetian DS II??
Maybe at some point soon, but they certainly haven't yet. Yesterday's $350 Deepstack at the Venetian had less than 150 players in it.

***Immigration Policies Thread***
As someone who has been to Thailand twice in 2010, I can say that it is indeed a very nice option. The one downside is that you can't stay there for more than 3 months at a time, and will have to make frequent visa runs into neighboring countries (Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Singapore, Indonesia). Other than that and the fact that it is still a third world country, life is an absolute blast there, especially for a single guy.

Black Sunday! What did you do on the first sunday with no grind?
Spent my last day in Las Vegas worrying. Somehow I will have to convince Pokerstars and FTP to change my address, because I used my US bank account to make that very first deposits to both rooms a long time ago. Ever since then I have been listed as a player from the United States, although I have never actually played online in this country. God, this sucks to bad! Also went to play a nightly $125 tournament in Aria, got no hands, busted within two hours. Have an early morning flight outta here back to Moscow.

Best Live Vegas Tournies to Play for Mid Stakes?
Venetian nightly $120 is definitely the best structure-wise, but also attracts a relatively competent field. Tourneys at MGM Grand and Excalibur are smaller, cheaper and much faster, but there you run into players so indescribably awful that you won't even see in $.10 turbos on Stars.

Sick brag about having a dog, a pregnant wife and FT-ing MTTs all at the same time. My worst was the power outage for 25 minutes while at the FT of a PS $8.80 12.5K Gtd.

What do you do in this situation ? I will post the rest of the hand, after.
Normally, flatting here is not optimal, and if we 4-bet, we're almost forced to call a shove, given your opponent's stack. Folding a premium hand to a tiny 3-bet just doesn't feel right, so lets not do that either. We're definitely deep enough to setmine, especially if we think there's a high probability he has an overpair and will give you his stack when you hit. Implied odds are not the greatest, but pretty good nonetheless. At the same time, you won't lose much by just flatting and check/folding on any flop that doesn't contain a ten or some type of an open-ended straight draw. All imo, ...

Looking to step up
Playing MTTs, unless you luckbox your way to a nice final table within your first few days, you will almost certainly have to reload that $100. Variance in those large field micro MTTs is enormous.

What is your longest stretch without a top-3 MTT finish?
I guess, the number of days or months you've been on a dry spell does not say as much as the number of MTTs you had to play between your two nice scores. Average field size is also a huge factor, of course. So please mention those numbers as well when telling your story.

Oops... my worst accidental register - Not 2$ NLHE!
Wait a minute, the Stars menu has a "Tourneys" tab. Under that there are buy-in levels tabs (high, medium, low, micro). Just don't ever select your games from the "All" tab, and you'll be fine.

What is your longest stretch without a top-3 MTT finish?
I was thinking about making this thread for a while, way before finally binking a decent score. Up until today, this entire year had been about as miserable as they come. So I wanted to find out, how often good players go thru horrible stretches like this. Obviously, I understand that being a micro and low buy-in MTT player with the majority of my volume played on Pokerstars, I have to navigate through enormous crowds of morons, maniacs and regulars (average field size of MTTs I play is over 3,500) and run incredibly well in a given tourney to finish in the top three (let alone actually ...

Awful wtf spot in $4.40 cubed
But how often does a SB just flat with AJ, JJ or even 77 after the button raise' I'd say 95% 3-bet that spot. Wouldn't you say there's a reasonable chance that he's just a donk, shoving something like J7 or Ax' This is $4.40 cubed we're talking about, not the $100R.

Awful wtf spot in $4.40 cubed
We are approaching the bubble, about 130 people left out of 350. My stack is right around the average. Everyone at the table is pretty much a random, as I spent the previous couple of minutes disconnected and came back to a new table. The button has opened once this orbit and took the pot down pre-flop. No reads on the SB whatsoever, other than his big stack. Best places to play lowstakes nl holdem in Las vegas?
I was in Vegas a week and a half ago. Mostly concentrated on playing tourneys. Shipped a small one at Excalibur for $350 and FT'ed a nightly $120 MTT at the Venetian (7th for $450). Also, while waiting for one tourney to start, I played a little $1/$2 at Excalibur. Some of the play I saw there left me speechless. Even in $.10 turbos at Pokerstars you won't see as many idiots and as many idiotic plays as I saw in one hour at that table. There's absolutely no reason that a decent player, who is capable of playing a patient ABC game, not to double up every hour.
